ok so im up to the restore part where you hold shift+click restore. when i click the firmware to make it 3.0 again it says 'extracting' then when it finishes, it says ipod can not be restored, error occurred (20). what did i do wrong

for those of you getting a never-ending "downloading" on ur ipod screen,

you have to make sure you are ALREADY downgraded to 3.0 before you start this process. just because you use the 3.0 file in this procedure doesn't change that.

try running redsnow again (this worked with a friend of mine when he got the neverending "downloading")

if that doesn't work restore with itunes, downgrade again, follow this video from beginning (that's what i did)

downgrade your ipod to 3.0, then do this video, then watch his other video on how to upgrade 3.0 jailbroken to 3.1.1 jailbroken

i have the same problem as jazizto. i browse through with redsnow and i go into the firmaware folder....and thers nothing there. theres other folders like dfu or something like that...but those folders are also empty. and i have version 3.1.2. will it work for me? thanks for ur help

First i download firmware (without running it)

Then, I jailbreak the firmware (that is on the computer)

When does it get "into" my iPod?

ok so im pretty sure mine worked it booted up and loaded and everything now its been like 2 minutes since i clicked finish and it says downloading jailbreak data still and its not frozen because it has a loading sign underneath it. Im just making sure it is suppose to do this and its not like messed up and not gonna download it

hey I just got my iPod less than a week ago and it's in 3.1 firmaware. Now on the site to download the firmware 3.1 isn't there but there is a 3.1.2 link, do I download that and it'll work anyways? all it says is downloading jailbreak datathen goes to show the usb to itunes. then i had to restore it to factory settings. i tried again and same thing.

well the problem could be that you did not download the right firmware for your device! or i t could be you have an ipod 3g (if you bought your ipod touch before sept 14ish its a 3g) and a jailbreak is not out for that yet! hope this helps!
