Nice video, what is the closest entrance to get to the f86 crash site? I have a pilot visiting that want to see it if possible. I remember it is below skyline and old shack but can't remember the shortest entrance point fron north shore. From grouse or Seymour?
You can access from above (e.g. go down the "Cut" at Grouse Mtn resort and take the old skyline chair trail down) or from below (take old skyline chair trail up from top of Skyline Drive.) Can't remember at which altitude it is, but I recall about 850m. There's a big silver turbine left in the middle of the trail
Thanks, I thought that the lower Skyline trail from Grouse base led there, is it marked with trail sign at Grouse base still? Play safe you folks are like deer hopping around in the woods! LOL! More the turtle type hiker with my base camp stuff.
There's a Canadian trainer in pieces on Strachan Mtn (Cypress), as well. GPS coords at: clubfatass website /events/flash-dash-crash I also have a bunch of photos on flickr in ClubFatAss stream
I see on the trail TOPO the end of Skyline road to avoid hike up from Grouse, I hiked in 10+ years back through Malispina I think. I have GPS, Topo and coms so won't take any chances. Like motorcycling the accidents usually happen closet to home when you relaxed etc.
@441rider be sure to check out the YouTube page as I gave a couple of good URLs for you with info about the crash you are referring to as well as one on Cypress. Happy to chat on the phone if you want more info. 604-904-6554
I forgot to mention that the XTC, and all Club Fat Ass events, are free. Also should mention that "Piggie" completed the 25K "Up" course to celebrate his first birthday

This should answer a few questions for you and your friend. On Grouse Mtn
Seems YouTube won't let me post a URL, so I'll try this in 2 parts:
search for Club Fat Ass on Google. Then, from that base url, add:
blog/ean-jackson/grouse-plane-crash
