NED! Along with Tinker Juarez, Ned Overend was always a hero of mine. Back when I was racing Julie Furtado was also a hero to me. Watching these folks race was such a huge source of motivation.
I ride an 2011 rockhopper 29er expert. Great bike. It handles great in all sorts of terrain including rocky technical terrain. The only exception is when the terrain gets super bouldery and loose where a full suspension would match the terrain better. The only thing I'm looking to really replace is the front fork. Other than that it's fun and not too hard on the wallet.
@colvet2334 Which color did you get? I got the matte Silver and Blk...I absolutely love the bike. Upgrades: XT cassette 11-34t; S-Works Fast Trak LK tires; Stan's NoTubes (cost for upgrade $300.00). Will probably upgrade the cranks to XT Hollowtech and will probably upgrade fork to either Rockshox Reba or a Fox 32 Float.
I'm starting downhill mountain biking with about if buddy's but I can't come close to the money to buy the kind of bikes they have there all specilized and there all over 10,000 dollars I want a bike that I can jump and go over rocks they told me to come to u guts for a bike but I can't afford some of the extreme models any good beginner downhill mountain bikes under a grand ? I'll get a much more expensive model later in time when I know I'll need one plz help me get a good bike under a grand
I`m struggling to see much difference between the Specialized Rockhopper, the Hardrock and the Crosstrail. They all look nearly identical and seem to cater for road and trail use. Any thoughts people? I have the 2011 Crosstrail.
hmm i still have my suspicions ... does this function better than a average hardtail...or is it only for trails...since thats what the specialized website says...or can i use it for medium bumpy mountain paths?????? cuz in video there aren't a lot of bumps lol
I love Specialized, but I had to go with the "other brand 6000" bc you guys don't have any Hardtail in the $1000s There is the RH comp but the top tube is short.
i got my rockhopper expert 29er a couple weeks ago and i love it!!!! rides so smooth and great for DH. i have taken it on down hill trails only and passed up people with stinkys and other down hill bikes. i absolutly love it!!!
i have the 2011 rockhopper pro, i love it so much more than my 07 hardrock pro... 29" is the way to go... i wish i couldve gotten the ltd but i couldnt justify the extra $200 for the paint and remote fork lock out... i ride with crank brothers candy 3, crank bros skewers and seat post clamp... im looking into the crank bros joplin post for the steep drops... check out my short drop video...

@offroadjunkie89 None of their downhill bikes are over 10K. But for a cheap, true downhill bike, look at their Status bikes. Great bikes for cheap.

Tried the 29er RH today at the bike shop. Very nice. $989.99 MSRP, should I get it? I had an '06 Hardrock and that was pretty sweet.
