Kias suck and their parts are high. They hold no value. I had a 07 Spectra with 46,000 miles on it and only got between 4 to 5 grand on trade in. The car was in good condition also. Glad I finally got rid of it.

My aunt drives a Kia Amanti.....it is a year old and its already broken down 6 times. Kia sucks, and as far as the interior, it's not blah! It's sweet! @TheDamatypool Actually you should consider a mazda 3. The mazda 3 isw a fun car, with lots of charisma. The 3 has great handling, fuel economy, value, and resale value. You may pay more for the mazda than the kia or chevy, but as the old saying goes " You get what you pay for". The choice is up to you though I'm just making a suggestion.
i totaly agree with BurningUp99. the Civic is ok but price and what ur getting for it. not even close to the awsome forte not saying it because i now own the one lol but because with the sx i got it totally loaded and still saved a ton compared to the Civic so yep, anyone who thinks Civic is the way to go thats up to u but if u want it all then u need to go with the Forte its also better car all round :)
NO! Kia Forte is not a better car all around than Honda Civic. With Civic you get years of Honda's reliablibility, whereas Kia has been making cars in the U.S. for only 10-15 years.

@hawianiceman420 Kia has improved incredibly, and is producing exciting products, while Honda barely redesigns the Civic and calls it a new model. And as for reliability, you get a 10/100000 warranty with the Kia. Honda has fallen behind.
@3obadon 2010 GTI, but the Forte looks pretty decent for the price and the warranty that comes with. Not a big fun of Mazda, but Kia made really good improvements.
This car is way better than a Civic for the price. Who gives a shit about the Civic Si look how much a Civic Si costs compared to one of these loaded. I'm going to go test drive one of these this week I'm not even considering a Civic at this point. I hate the design of the newer 2 door Civics this car reminds me of a Scion Tc but with better gas mileage.

boy quite a heated debate here. In terms of quality and performance for past couple of years, my vote also goes to Kia/Hyundai than Nissan and Honda. They've not done well lately. The resale value on Nissan and Honda is higher yes, but that's not because of quality. That's because Kia and Hyundai still largely deals with Car renter companies in some of their key models. In order to boost branding further and resale value, they should stop doing that.

Hondas are definitely not built better than Hyundai/Kia cars. Hyundai/Kia cars perform much better than Hondas, and have a better warranty. Does Honda have anything like Hyundai Assurance? I don't think so.

i don't normally hate on cars, but Kia's 2 liter "power plant" is lacking about 50 horses compaired to honda's k20. Even kia's 2.4 still falls short by 30. Plus no 8,000 RPM redline? no i-vtec crossover? F that.

and the Civic Si starts at about $6,000 more. The cars are in different classes. That's like saying your Civic sucks because a WRX has 65 more HP and 115 more ft/lbs, and AWD. But then again a WRX is only about 4-5k more than an Si. The Forte Koup is a nice economy coupe at a bargain, competing with the 1.8l Civic, Corolla, Sentra, Elantra, etc.
My message wasn't really towards anyone in here, but it kinda made me laugh when i went to Kia's website and they called their 150 HP 2 liter a "power plant."
@MossyStatues Kias are not generally priced below. Possibly at your dealer, but trust me they are not. Every vehicle usually works out to more than MSRP; ie. destination charges, block heater and PDI charges, special order charges, There are tons that dealers will add on. The Kia dealer I work at goes above MSRP for a few reasons.
civic si cost 22,000 with sunroof included, kia forte koup sx wit the 2.4 and the 700 dollar sunroof cost 19395, so thats only a 2605 dollar difference, where u get 6000 from

The Forte's base engine makes 156 hp and 144 lb. ft. The Civic's makes 140hp and 128 lb. ft. Some people just want to drive something a bit more unique. You can't drive 2 miles without seeing a civic, but a Forte is much more rare. Have you driven the two and compared their driving dynamics? 80% of people- even those who THINK they know a lot about driving- won't notice any significant difference between the two.
they think they're the winner by paying 400 bucks less and owning a car. simply because they dont know brands and they dont appreciate it...all they think of cars is a seat with a beak and a gas pedal and 4 wheels..i mean common for kia forte to effectively compete with the civic it should be at least $6K cheaper.. even then i'd buy a 10 year old civic just so i have avoided a fucking kia badge
Civic Si uses a 2.0 turbo? Other than the MDX, I think the Honda City was the only turbo Honda.
Stock, my B16b make 185bhp, and that was 10 years ago out of a 1.6 liter...but then again, Honda is known for squeezing hp out of small displacement engines
you are a typical honda guy-no V-tec power, no go. This car has way more torque, horsepower has nothing to do with going fast. Honda 4 cylinders do not have any torque, therefore in order to generate power, they need an 8000 rpm redline. Civics only have 140 hp, Kia has 156hp. (Ex vs EX)
To be honest, this is the 1st korean car that i like..
Test drive it last few weeks ago here. it quite a good car in terms of spacious, build quality.. for a 1.6L, it pack quite a few premium cars equipments..
but, the big let down here, it the 4-speed automatic gearbox and the drives... 0-100 is really a disappointment.. but, it fuel economy is not bad.. cause, in my country, that is singapore.. what matter most is the fuel economy...
well i been a honda guy my entire life. but if i were to buy a new car, this is at the top of my list. yes the civic si is better, but the si base model is 17,500 and this one is 13,900 i know resale suck, but i buy what i like, not to resale it.
The koup is too new, of course the Si will have a better reputation. But still, don't let your honda biased opinion disrupt the finer qualities of the koup.
the Kia Koup has unique looks(and good ones at that) unlike the ugly civic. Kias waranty kills Honda, it has way more features then the Civic (most standard) and some are not even available for Honda and of course all for less money. And who cares if it's Korean? Are you saying Japanese are superior to them?
I agree with most of what you have said, but I do believe that Japanese engineering is a couple steps ahead. But there weaknesses are almost always electrical.
on a honda u dont need a warrnty, they dont break down!!! (check consumer reports) With that kia get ready for 10 years and 100,000 miles of breakdowns!!

You can talk a dealer down several thousand dollars anyways, but cant if you have a trade in. a dealer is stealing your car on a trade in. The way to get real value if you decide to waste money on a new car is to drive it until it dies and the maintenance is more than the cost of a car payment. I bought a Koup, the Honda SUCKS. My FIRST IMPORT CAR and this was the car to convince me!

This car sucks compared to the 2011 Scion Tc. For the price, the Tc blows it away.. its more powerful, handles better, and even has Eco mode.

The resale value on Nissan and Honda is higher yes, but that's not because of quality. That's because Kia and Hyundai still largely deals with Car renter companies in some of their key models. In order to boost branding further and resale value, they should stop doing that.

you can not buy a F150 for $15gs and it has been a proven truck that has been around and proven after years on the road. More then half the reason Hondas have been rated so well by the consumer is because of religious service intervals. I do not give a shit what kind of car you drive, if you take care of it, it will take care of you. I have found that the common Kia owner does not take care of things as simple as an oil change and then bitch when they break down. What do you expect?

There is 0 resemblance of the Civic in the Koup and anyone on this page would back that statement up. Also the Kia 2.0 engine was designed for fuel efficiency not performance-that is why it gets 10mpg more then the 200hp Civic Si.

Why don't you park a new Koup next to a new Civic side by side and then make a decision-I have done that and there is no comparison. The new Civic is so round especially the back end with a sloped front end to the point you can not see the end of the hood. Look at the rear quarter of the Koupe how they squared it off resemblng the Challenger NOT the Civic!

i don't normally hate on cars, but Kia's 2 liter "power plant" is lacking about 50 horses compaired to honda's k20. Even kia's 2.4 still falls short by 30. Plus no 8,000 RPM redline? no i-vtec crossover? F that.

and the Civic Si starts at about $6,000 more. The cars are in different classes. That's like saying your Civic sucks because a WRX has 65 more HP and 115 more ft/lbs, and AWD. But then again a WRX is only about 4-5k more than an Si. The Forte Koup is a nice economy coupe at a bargain, competing with the 1.8l Civic, Corolla, Sentra, Elantra, etc.

Every vehicle usually works out to more than MSRP; ie. destination charges, block heater and PDI charges, special order charges, There are tons that dealers will add on. The Kia dealer I work at goes above MSRP for a few reasons.

The Forte's base engine makes 156 hp and 144 lb. ft. The Civic's makes 140hp and 128 lb. ft. Some people just want to drive something a bit more unique. You can't drive 2 miles without seeing a civic, but a Forte is much more rare. Have you driven the two and compared their driving dynamics? 80% of people- even those who THINK they know a lot about driving- won't notice any significant difference between the two.

Civic Si uses a 2.0 turbo? Other than the MDX, I think the Honda City was the only turbo Honda.
Stock, my B16b make 185bhp, and that was 10 years ago out of a 1.6 liter...but then again, Honda is known for squeezing hp out of small displacement engines

you are a typical honda guy-no V-tec power, no go. This car has way more torque, horsepower has nothing to do with going fast. Honda 4 cylinders do not have any torque, therefore in order to generate power, they need an 8000 rpm redline. Civics only have 140 hp, Kia has 156hp. (Ex vs EX)

To be honest, this is the 1st korean car that i like..
Test drive it last few weeks ago here. it quite a good car in terms of spacious, build quality.. for a 1.6L, it pack quite a few premium cars equipments..
but, the big let down here, it the 4-speed automatic gearbox and the drives... 0-100 is really a disappointment.. but, it fuel economy is not bad.. cause, in my country, that is singapore.. what matter most is the fuel economy...

the Kia Koup has unique looks(and good ones at that) unlike the ugly civic. Kias waranty kills Honda, it has way more features then the Civic (most standard) and some are not even available for Honda and of course all for less money. And who cares if it's Korean? You can talk a dealer down several thousand dollars anyways, but cant if you have a trade in. a dealer is stealing your car on a trade in. The way to get real value if you decide to waste money on a new car is to drive it until it dies and the maintenance is more than the cost of a car payment. I bought a Koup, the Honda SUCKS. My FIRST IMPORT CAR and this was the car to convince me!
