for amakdissi79 - i think it is pretty much Mary Magdeline wanting Jesus to relax, be happy, sleep and worry about nothing, she will sooth him etc. Judas then comes in and goes off saying pretty much that she has to think of others besides herself. Then Jesus comes in to defend her and says Judas pretty much better appreciate him because one day he will be gone. That's my interpretation anyway of a brilliant song!!
irememeber seeing this live in sydney i was given2 tickets by a mate it was the best concert of my life! all that aussie talent in one place not all auss but the best by far
You'll find that almost 100% of performances done from studios on live TV are prerecorded and lip synced, its just how its done. I've studied the music industry and am involved in it by the way.
100% lip sync..it's from their recording tho but not a live version..to many variables to sing this song live without the full band there..plus live tv is always hard to get good recordings..but not taking away from the fact this was an amazing cast and nice they sang 'Amazing Grace' at the end..cheers for posting the video ;-)
WOW! I always wondered how their costumes would look after spending most of my childhood days listening to this cast. I must say, its certainly a different arrangment of costumes! I love it!
Hi everyone. I am so pleased this has been posted. I was on stage as a cast member, the chorus master and , later, the Conductor of the theatre version.
It was, and remains, the most incredible theatrical experience of my 40+ year career.
We're doing this in my singing class atm and man, for someone who can't sing (my opinion at least) the male bits are hard. Let alone having the talent here to live up to. :S
@Metalhead1979 Yeah it was a great cast, I remember going when I was 8 and had John Waters' fill in for Pontius Pilate, because he was doing Looking Through a Glass Onion. Shame they never released it on video :(
@Metalhead1979 Yeah. We all have these things called ears. They're DEFINITELY lip syncing. Compare the two audios side-by-side. Now, on Gethsemane, Farnham isn't lip syncing. It doesn't make him any less of a performer... he's still a fucking God of vocals. One of the best there is.
Wow, I have all versions of the sound track of this production. In many cases (this is one) the Aussie version is far far better than all others. Kate, Jon and John are masters of their trade...... absolutely brilliant.... I (obviosuly) love it.... great to see iton youtube.... about time...
I was a kiwi living in Australia at the time and I had seen both NZ and OZ versions of Jesus Christ Superstar and Australia was by far the superior! Kate Cebrano is the best Mary Magdeline yet!
Definitely the best Mary .... and lip synced. Still awesome though.
BTW. Biblical Mary Mag would have been an old wormen not a sexy young vixen.

Hands down the best version of this show ever. I remember paying a fortune for the cd because it was an import, but it was worth every single penny!!

It's such a shame that the live version of this production never got released due to contractual and payment issues.

Would have been better if they weren't lip-synching. But yes, best ever.

@Team180B I can't see why John Farnham would want to even lip-sync in the first place :-S

@Team180B Do you think that JF is Lip-Synching?
Sorry mate... But you have no idea!
There are these things you have called EARS!
I suggest that you use them.
Listen to the Studio version... then this. You'll see
