• Way to turn a haunting piece of music into SHIT elevator musak.

  • @iandunipace

His name was George Ford.Great forgotten Canadian session bass player wich sadly died 2 years ago.

Played "in silence" for many famous groups/artists in the 70's and 80's but never got the big credits.

He definetely played this piece Cavatina in a great way...........

  • After all the search, I've found this piece... Beautiful.

  • i was raised on this music,i am 67 now ,when iwas akid i idolised the shadows .when i was learning to play guitar. the shadows brought a unique sound to the world this sound is still unique ,plenty have tried to emulate it but no one has managed this up to now . this music will go on forever not like the crap we have to put up with today

  • Wonderful !!

  • im here floating on this song

  • speechless.....

  • STUNNING!!!!!<3 <3 <3 <3

  • totally stunning.....one of my fave artistes along with John Williams

  • Oh boy what version this is, Bruce on an acoustic and Hank, not sure if its a Burns, or a Strat sounds as superb as ever.

  • Hi Świetna melodia, pozdrawiam kolega Roman (POLAND)

  • Stunning!! Cool post!

  • Wonderful. I got turned on this particular song by reading something about how the rock star Rick Springfield is a fan of the Shadow, and how he considers them a musical influence. So I just had to check it out...and now the shadows have yet another fan...me :)

  • Hank Marvin in my Opinion is one of Four Guitar Players That will never be Equaled. He Lit a fire that will never Die.

  • Awesome alternative to Myers' masterpiece. Love it!

  • fuck this is a nice take on Stanley Meyer's piece....veryy tight

  • Obra maestra. Master Piece.

  • I agree ! This piece by the Shadows takes me to a place when I write , that no one has ever been to before! I was driving through the Rockies in Canada, Cavatina came on the radio ! I stopped the car, turned up the volume and stepped out of the car, walked off the road quite aways, and walked on land that I knew no one else had stepped on, and did it to this music! Like the Rockies go up into the clouds until you no longer see them, I felt this piece of music did so to .

  • the sahadows é foda

  • One of my dad's all time favs... i love this too..grew up on it..

  • I accidentally disliked this. I must kill myself now.

  • @CatGoesBOOM you can also make more accounts and like it by them.

  • @CatGoesBOOM rofl

  • @Stefan1527 im dead

  • @CatGoesBOOM still alive ?

  • @CatGoesBOOM please don't : ) just like it again, one more time with your heart and one more time with your soul : )

  • Definitely the Seventies, check out the threads and the size of those specks LOL, good tune though, even better movie

  • there is a lot of guitarists showing there skills on u tube. Some of them can play really fast stuff which is impressive for a few seconds. But as a guitarist my self y o y do i love this man so much. His playing to me is almost Godly. Its smooth, sophisticated, and played with so much feeling its very hard to copy. hank is the man and always will be in my book.

  • Just beautiful. Hank inspired me to start playing in 1960 and if I live to be a thousand years old I will never be able to play like him. I reckon he is probably the most influential British guitar player ever and has been an inspiration to so many who came after him.

He was the first and the best........................!

  • ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

  • If it had not been for Hank I never would have started playing guitar 24 years ago.

  • wonderful ;)

  • Super super :):)

  • very nice

  • A truly great arrangement grew up with this still love it

  • Un morceau formidable anthologique, 10/10

  • Hey I love the man with the Glasses - I Love you BABE with the Glasses

  • Hey c'mon guys, peace the fuck out man. Both versions are beautiful. Truth be told ol' ' halfway ' does play both parts with great style and finesse while this kinda Jeff Beck style version does seem to capture that lovely haunting melancolia of ' Cause We've Ended As Lovers '. And Gilmour is a brilliant player but he can't twang my heartstrings like hank or Jeff (or John Williams) Peace

  • This is marvellous! I love the solo, classical versions of this tune but in this version, the chords are taken care of by the other guitar whilst Hank is free to emphasise the melody. I also love the electric approach to this timeless classic :)

    Ruiseart.

  • dreamy..*

  • God, give me a strat

  • THE SHADOWS (SON COMO DIAMANTES MUSICALES) YA NO EXISTEN MÚSICOS CON LA CATEGORIA DE THE SHADOWS

  • THE SHADOWS (SON COMO DIAMANTES MUSICALES) YA NO EXISTEN MÚSICOS CON LA CATEGORIA DE THE SHADOWS

  • Magic jn : -)

  • John Williams does play both parts. He plays one guitar with his fingers and one with his toes.

  • A masterpiece

  • Never seen Hank playing a black strat

  • So this would be George Ford on Bass and Francis Monkman n keyboards

  • john williams does play both parts at the same time i know this beucase i spent about 6 months trying to learn it on clasical guitar but found playing both parts simultaneously to be too difficult

  • absolutely brilliant

  • What a song!

  • Nice! I am going to order some music from y'all

  • Como pode haver quem não goste ???

  • Great, just great, very very nice souvenirs...How i miss those years!!! Thanks

  • Just brilliant and never surpassed. You can only understand how big an impact the Shadows made in the early 60s if you were around at the time. My God....a red Strat, glasses like Buddy Holly and a sound that NO-ONE had ever heard before coming out of the AC30 amps they used in those days. Their first single on their own was Apache by Jerry Lordan and it was electrifying. It took me until I was in my 50s to buy my first Strat....These guys influenced just about everyone back then. Brilliant.

  • @baxio3rod Ummm..'Jet black' and 'Drifting' came before 'Apache'., and so did 'Saturday dance', 'Feeling fine', 'don't be a fool with love'..'Chinchilla', and 'Bongo blues' did too!

  • strange as i went to a wedding as a a young teen shortly after this and met hank.

  • Excellent music

  • Brilliant!!! Hank is clearly a god! :)

    Ruiseart Alcorn.

  • hank influenced many of the greats :)

  • А для чего этот рычаг на гитаре, у Richie Blackmore его не было??

  • Damn i just bought a slide so i could learn how play this but it's all in the vibrato. Fooled me again! Gotta love Hank. Great feel, never overplays and makes every note count.

  • i,d like to see you play it LIVE, knob heads

  • Meget vakker låt!!!!!!!!!!

  • DEER HUNTER BY: the shadows instrumental..... love song

  • @Ida922 No.... The song is Cavatina by Stanley Myers... Most famously recorded by John Williams. The shadows did not write this song, it wasn't even originally written for guitar.

  • its nice but the whole point is taht you play rythm and accompaniement together on one guitar

  • close your eyes n feel it.....<3

  • Super:):)

  • great player shame he is a single string picker but he sounds great

  • Is Hank Marvin well known in the U.S.? I never heard of him until I saw this site. An outstanding guitarist! His rendition of "Cavatina" is classic!

  • @newalm

  • @newalm ...Hank was part of the band which supported Cliff Richard...do you know of him...he is still going...he is even older than Mick Jagger...

  • Hank Marvin on of the most influental guitar player of all time.

  • Jeff Beck must have been influenced by Hank Marvin. Listen to Jeff Beck play the Beatles' " A Day in Life" on youtube.

  • You're right it's brillant !

There are a lot of guitarists but Hank Marvin is exceptional. He is a guitar virtuoso and also a lyrical performer.

In Poland there are a lot of fans of Hank Marvin and The Shadows.

In my opinion, the music of The Shadows is timeless.

  • He makes the guitar talk.

    Brilliant

  • Hank Marvin GENIUS

  • what a beautiful song...

    genius work of art.

    :-)

  • carlos santana used to be nicknamed apache becuase he always played the shadows

  • In my opinion, Hank Marvin and Chet Atkins are the greatest guitarists.

  • Two of the best...and might I suggest a third? Check out Tommy Emannuel.tralian legend of the six-string.

  • It's true. He's the best. But my favourite is Marvin... He's GREAT!

  • AMO ESTA MUSICA

  • Hank's style is instantly recognisabe; Mark Knopfler listed him as his 'main inspiration'. His solo album 'The guitar player' is the height of musical elegance and commitment to his craft.

  • unspeakable music!

  • Let's face it; Hank B. Marvin fired up more young guys into grabbing a guitar and he did more for sales of red Fender Strat's than ANYONE..a true musician, a supreme talent and my inspiration since I heard 'Jet Black' in 1958.

  • Agreed!

  • @jimincairns I'm one of them :p

  • Good lad! I've now got forty guitars, and I blame each and every one of 'em on Hank!

  • Greta cover...kinda dreamy...

  • There is no muscial comparison between The Shadows And the Beatles! The Shadows have always been far better musicians than the Beatles , the beatles made some evergreens as songs ofcorse , but they never moved me the way the Shadows did.

  • its not one string stuff i started playin this kinda music and its harder han it sounds the notes arranged arranged in a typical fashion, its all in key but the notes aren next to eachother, plusthe amount of technique isalmost overwelming, even t somone with a bit of experience

  • Harrison was never in the same league as Marvin. he would readily admit it if he were alive.

  • @mayo4904 Sonny, I've been playing the guitar for fifty-two years so my opinion is more valid than yours; George Harrison had talent, but Hank B. Marvin is a legend to guitarists world-wide. Even Tommy Emannuel recognises his genius.

  • The Shadow fueron una de las mejores bandas instrumentales de Gran Bretaña, maravillosa interpretacion de la Cavatina de Stanley Myers.

    Roberto Torres Vazquez

  • This Clip is amazing!! I agree with tyzos , that The Shadows is the best band Britain ever produced!! The are completely Unique! No one sounds like that. Hank Marvin has a phenomenal control and sound on the Guitar. Great Band. Sad the lay off now in 2009. But what great testament we have on Record and Film over the years.

  • wooah

the best band britain has ever produced?

    are we forgetting the beatles?

  • PINK FLOYD

  • The Shadows, without a doubt the best band Britain has ever produced.

  • Wonderful listening, sonorous, relaxing!

  • Hank Marvin is truly a genius on the guitar and he is the best there was, the best there is and the best there ever will be.

I've heard this tune played by various other artists but only his version that I will care to have it replayed over and over again.

The best instrumental piece ever and it was performed by the best lead guitarist in the world.

Hank is my idol many many times over.

  • @Freddie9384 Try listenin to John Williams's version - He plays both leads at the same time ! ! ! !

  • @asterixthekerryman

I did Fred, as u asked , but it"s not quite the same , but I know wat u mean wen comparing, when Garry Moore finishinge's singing " Still Got The blues over You " OMG his instrumental at the end just blows you're mind . I was not expecting it !

  • @Freddie9384 each to their own freddie.. but john williams really is the master especially on this piece.

  • A beautiful melody, and only Hank Marvin can make it sound even more beautiful. I love this melody.

  • R.I.P GRANDAD RON aka Rocky!!

I love u and misss you and ill never forget this song :) rip sleep tight grandad and maybe one day we will see each over aguin and share memorys that will last for a life time

  • It would be great if Jason Becker did a cover of this.

  • Beautiful...go Yankees!!

  • So beautiful. Simply relax and dream.
