So owning a 26 year old synth that uses rare Curtis chips that are notorious for dieing seems like a safer bet than a synth still being made today? The only way to be truly safe is to get a discrete synth that you can get all the parts from a Radio Shack. Nice sounding Obie btw. ;)
No, not too complicated. I appreciate that it can do more for me then I would ever need it to do. My concern is regarding repairs should it break down. I've had it for 8 years and it's bound to happen, so I began researching replacements. It's good to have a back up synth, or two, or five. I came to realize over this past week of owning the OB8, that the A6 will probably never be replaced. I should probably just buy a second one.... and keep the OB8 as well.
Thanks! I'll be posting more videos once I have the right equipment to record them with. The OB8 sounds absolutely amazing with its voices panned (1. left 2. right 3. left 4. right etc,.) Come to think of it... so does the Andromeda. hmm maybe an A / B video is in the near future.
sounds like Utopia! excellent!

Wow!
Your OB 8 sounds great!
Was it played in normal(poly) or unison(mono) mode?

Thanks. That patch is unison with 3 of the 8 voices turned on. Sawtooth

I hear ya and agree. You can never have "too many" synthesizers. Your OB8 sounds fantastic!
