What part of Texas? I'm curious because I spent a chunk of my life (6+ years) in Austin. I'd never imagined myself living there, but my job eventually (and unexpectedly) took me there. What surprised me was the fact that there's a pretty sizeable Japanese population in the Capitol City. Both working professionals and students (attending UT/Austin.) You would actually hear some Japanese conversation in the bookstore or at Whole Foods quite often. : D
Used to drive 3 hours on I-35N to Dallas from Austin so many times I lost count!
Living in the concrete jungle of NYC now, sometimes I really miss the beautiful Hill Country of Austin and central Texas. To be quite honest, I often miss Texas more than I do Japan. Don't know why. Maybe it's those breathtaking Texas sunsets...
If there is any movie that your viewers should watch in your recommendations Pulp Fiction should be the number 1 film watched. It is soo quotable. Amazing dialogue. Greats from Reservoir Dogs + Uma Thermon, Bruce Willis, Travolta and fucken Mace Windu. I knew of it for a long time, but it was actually strongly recommended by a friend. I saw it some years ago and it changed my life. "Say what one more time! I dare you! I double dare motherfucker!"
1) I don't think it would be a bad idea after you finish your broad list of DVDs you like to go ahead and do 1 or 2 full 10 minute vlogs on ones that you feel really strongly about.
I think you really found another thing that a lot of your viewers enjoy, and I mean come on, who doesn't like movies.
2) I know that all of these are in a binder, so I am wondering if you have any of these boxes like in storage somewhere, I doubt it just because there are so many.
yep - I have a storage unit in San Diego that I've been paying for each month for the past 5 years. It houses my comics and laserdiscs, and one of the boxes is all the keepcases for the DVDs that came with me in the binder. :)
The Planet of the apes film is an interersting one: While is is a classic ( I full heartedly agree with you, amazing) the front cover of the poster/DVD is the biggest spoiler in movie history!!!!!!!
haha - yeah, it must be tough for them to market some films - do they include the iconic image the film is known for and possibly spoil it for the unitiated? Or go with something else...
You should check out a movie called Network; very good movie and quite interesting. I think it came out in the 70s, but it pretty much just predicted how news shows would become sellouts.
I'm glad you included Pulp Fiction! It really showcases Tarantino's writing abilities. Jackie Brown is another good one by him. I think you should devote a half/whole segment to discussing Star Wars also. ^_^
inglorious bastards is amazing!

Thanks for the suggestion.

I second that remark on Heston. Meeting him in an NRA context President Clinton said to him: "I liked you better as Moses."
And Sam Jackson.... gosh... two awefully bad words in one video. How controversial will you get? :-)

So make sure to check it out! Take care.

Yeah - Network is both very 70s and also very timeless since the themes it dissects seem to persist until this day in American media. Great film.

only one segment for Star Wars? I don't think I could contain myself within 10 minutes for the Holy Trilogy! :D

My "passion" comment might sound a bit wierd, the point I was trying to make was I know you like your films, like me
