Both women are amazing in their own right. I don't see how anyone could diss either one. Cadillac Records was a good movie, and Beyonce was good in it. No one ever sings songs like the original, but her rendition was beautiful. Before seeing the movie, I never really thought about who sang "At Last", just thought it was beautiful. Seems like a win/win situation for everyone. I wish both stars the best.

Also, the one who really should have been portrayed in 'Cadillac Records' is Koko Taylor. She was the one out of the female singers on the Chess label that really represents that Chess sound. Don't know how many of you are aware of this or even care, but Etta James was appparently diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease right around the time of this incident last year, which I think goes far to explain the comments she made at that concert. This is all according to one of her sons who made an official statement to the press about it back in January of this year as his mother had been hospitalized for another really bad illness that nearly killed her.

Both women are amazing in their own right. I don't see how anyone could diss either one. Cadillac Records was a good movie, and Beyonce was good in it. No one ever sings songs like the original, but her rendition was beautiful. Before seeing the movie, I never really thought about who sang "At Last", just thought it was beautiful. Seems like a win/win situation for everyone. I wish both stars the best.

I think it had more to do with the fact that Beyonce KNEW this woman had to struggle to get her name recognized during her time, with songs being stolen and racism. The song was a major hit for Miller, reaching number 14 on the Billboard pop charts in 1942, and it soon became a standard. Nat King Cole recorded it in 1957 on his number one album Love Is the Thing. In 1960, it was covered by blues singer Etta James in a performance that improvised on Warren's melody. James' version was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999.

Back when Etta was in her prime, she was amazing, but her defense for this rant was that she was joking, and she just wanted to say that she would do it better. If this was 40 years ago, I would probably agree, but now, in my opinion, Beyonce and the other two girls, can do it way better.

I love Christina Aguilera's version, and I like Beyonce's; Etta's is the original and a classic though, so is the best in my opinion. But everyone's entitled to their opinion.

This song belongs to Glen Miller and vocally to Ray Eberly. They recorded it first. Altho to the proceeding generation it bacame an Etta James song, she can't go labelin it as "hers". That's a tad hypocritical considering she is NOT the original artist of the song. Beyonce has every right to it as Etta in fairness. Niether of them wrote nor first recorded it. Beyonce recorded it as a tribute and I think it's REALLY childish and disrespectfull that Etta James felt the need to say this.

There's 2 sides to Etta's singing: the pop style of songs like 'At Last' and then there's the low-down, gutbucket blues style. There's no way in hell that Beyonce could sing a blues better than Etta. Also, the one who really should have been portrayed in 'Cadillac Records' is Koko Taylor. She was the one out of the female singers on the Chess label that really represents that Chess sound. Only problem with that is Koko Taylor sings those harsh, low-down blues. All these pretty girl pop stars wouldn't have a chance in hell of being able to sing any of her songs the way she did. Check out "Wang Dang Doodle" by Koko and you'll see what I mean.

Ok this was really bad on Etta's part but with that being said I've heard many people sing At Last including Beyonce and no one sings it like Etta. Remember that part of Beyonce's job was to do her best at imitating Etta's voice and approach to a song without all those runs and loops. I love Beyonce as well and Etta clearly has her own personal issues to handle and she was out of line but let's not discredit one of the greatist and most influential female singers to ever grace a stage.
