well lol if these people wanted to give those kids a real history lesson and example of how life was back then they could have some confederate solider actors bring out a bullwhip, and make the black kids walk around all day with cotton sacks, and when the kids got home at the end of the day and their parents ask " how was history class today? " they would have an interesting day at school to talk about.

Did "Abe" share with the students his position on the "superiority of the white race" as so spoken in the Lincoln-Douglas debates? Or his feelings that "Any people, anywhere" have the right to secede - but not the South on HIS watch?

Did he explain that the Emancipation proclamation was a political ploy that freed NO slaves?

Or that the South had a right to secede, but he resorted to invasion and terrorism to force them back into the Union?

As I watched this video and saw the teachers and students there, I wondered... as a confederate reenactor, how would I possibly be able to tell the true story to kids who had just had every Yankee propaganda lie told to them in a completely one-sided way. How do you tell kids that young that practically everyone they believe in and are taught to respect, was deserving of quite the opposite?
