  • You got some grip on that pistol, the recoil didnt even move his hands

  • I love my RIA Tactical 1911. its a shame it shot 1 foot low and left at 12 yards :( some sight adjustment and she is drilling everything. I love it.

  • Wow. lol xDDD

  • @voogun

I have 686 smith & wesson magnum revolver and mossberg 500 shotgun but the rock island armory is my favorite gun because it didn't have much recoil than those gun that i have & also the rock island armory tactical is solid, way back home when in the Philippines. We rented an armscor 1911 gun, we fired the gun with 500 rounds FMJ ammo with none stop & the gun perform well without any FTF/FTE or any damages in the internal parts. Since then we bought two armscor 1911.

  • Can't go wrong with Rock Island Armory, ATI, or Metro Arms. The Filipinos know how to build a 1911. Good video.

  • hELLO. Good control & good way to test & aim. I just subed. I'm Thinking of RIA as a next purchase. could you pls answer my questions as to which model would be the best purchase? Thank You. Sincerely. JAMES.

  • @buzzclark

I would suggest finding one that has the features you want within your budget.

This is my personal recommendation though-

  • Did Colt Stop Making the gun models?

  • @Seniorap64 No you can still buy a Colt 1991 or Series 70 1911

  • thanks for a great video! Does the sharp edge on the back end bother you hand while shooting? I'm in the market for a Value .45 any other suggestions in a similar price range with 15 round capacity? Thanks

  • What is your "pointer knife?" What make and model?

  • I like how you ended the vid

  • I put more than 3,000 rounds in my rock island armory 1911 gun. It is solid gun & fun to shot in the target range. I would highly recommend to everyone to get this reliable solid piece of gun. I use it as my home defense gun :-)

  • @filipinofighter1 One of my co workers has way too many guns and the wife told him to start selling,so his selling my his 4 month old RIA 45 Tactical with 5 mags for just $350.00 i`m taking it...

  • @filipinofighter1 Glad to hear you're firearm is performing well!

  • Rock Islands are a fantastic value for those who want a low cost, good quality reliable shooter with good accuracy. They are the best value bar none in 1911's right now. They are rough and spartan, but they are up to the most demanding tasks. Would I rather have a Wilson, a Kimber, or an STI. Yes, and I own an STI. But if I was a young man with a new family on a budget and I wanted something for home protection, Armscor/RIA would be my purchase without a second thought.

  • @AlienZygote010 As a young man just now starting a family in a not so good part of town I find this comment to be:

    1. Creepily accurate

    2. Insightful

    3. Helpful

    Thanks a ton

  • @AceofCrazy89 My pleasure. If you might carry the weapon concealed with regularity, consider getting the medium sized officer's model. It would be a fair compromise with weight, portability, and accuracy. Also remember that nothing beats a shotgun for home defense, and even a kid can use one. A good shotgun would be less than an RIA 1911. I have an HK FP6, but a cheap and fantastic Remington 870 isvwhat all others are measured by. Best of luck to you and yours.

  • The Rock Island he's shooting is the tactical version. It's a step up from the GI due to 3 dot sights (instead of blade) and ambidextrous safety and also the skeletonized hammer. I have the same gun in blued finish and I really really like it!

  • @TheMetallicaMan1000 Then how come my tactical is parkerized and has blade sights? It's boring compared to his. I have the skeletonized trigger, hammer, and ambi safety.

  • @scandmx5atl - Hi there. There are different configurations of the same model. I don't own an RIA but I have handled and fired them. I know they have many different parts setups and their model names can be confusing. By blase sites, not sure if you know, but he is referring to the "hump and bump" site of the WW2 1911. If you do have a simple hump front site, a gunsmith can cut you a dovetail, or even just grind it down and silver solder you a nice high blade on the slide. Good luck.

  • Where's the scone? Great Firearm. Have you tried or heard of Rock Island M5 Shotguns?

  • aWSOME VID I SUBBED

  • Excellent shooting, great communication during the video, and a just plain positive host. I wish more gun reviews could be like this. Well done.

One last thing, damn good shooting for being new to the 1911.

  • did you customize this gun or buy it just liek that

  • Long live The Constitution of The United States Republic. Thank the Lord for the 2nd amendment.

  • i was thinking of purchasing this gun maybe as an xmas gift for myself (yea it's a long way from now, thanks to my stag arms, im broke). but i am in the market for a good and affordable 1911, how is this different from the GI?

  • nice vid! i have that same gun and id get rid of the stock grips asap cuz they are lame other that the whole gun is flawless

  • @rbsimba i have this same model this guy has, never ever had any problems. i carry it now that it has proven itself

  • great video steve, i have a RIA (MS) model. 4 inch barrel so it is a little bigger than a commander and it has the old mil sights that i am used to shooting with! love it!!!!

  • Thanks, Always wondered if the Rock Island was a decent 45.

  • Dang it I was rooting for the water jug :(

  • ★★★★★

  • ALELUIA SOME SHOOTING VIDEOS!!!

  • Nice shooting.... Thanks...

  • i personally love the springfield 1911 45 acp and use it as my carry. as with the rock island i have to aim high as the rear sights need adjusted from factory

  • Very nice shooting style. Not really a 1911 .45 fan but that is a nice piece and you're accurate with it.

  • i cant see any picture

  • Come on man....tell us about the knife please!

  • Thanks alot Steve. Great review. I actually went and looked at one of these today. It's a plan jane "GI issue" with wood grips. Not as nice looking as yours, but felt nice in my hand. The price was 429. I think I am going back to pick it up this week.

  • Nice! I've been checkin' those RIA .45's for a while. Thanks for posting. Keep up the good work and keep sharing the knowledge!!!

  • Can you please make a video on your knife.

  • Good video! Don't own a 1911....yet. :)

BTW....sure would like to know more about that knife of yours. Thanks!

  • Did you already add some mods to it cuz it looks good

  • The last gun show that I went to, these were going for $350

  • There's a good review of a 1911 I can afford. Thanks buddy

  • great video sir. you are one deadly shooter making a single hole out of 3 bullets.

  • nice knife

  • great video, great commentary

  • sweet review and thanks for including ammo as its often overlooked. I may be in the market for a 1911 but it seems the Rock Islands are not well stocked in my area. I must say, I really love Springfield Armory 1911s having handled them over the Kimbers, etc. as they are so smooth right out of the box.

  • Good groups!

  • The RIA 1911 is a solid 1911... Of course it is hard to screw up the 1911 design unless you really try. ; )

  • @SafeArmsReview I was wondering is that the two tone 5" Tactical Model? I've been thinking about getting this as my first 1911.

  • Thanks Steve. Always wondered about the RIA. I might just have to pick one up.

  • Wow now thats impressive.

  • Nice !

  • Great video steve.

  • What a great deal you got on that pistol. I sure am coveting that fancy knife.;-)

  • I am picking up the RIA Tactical 1911 tomorrow for $450. I am excited to get out and make some videos. Great video....

  • I am loving that wireless mic. i wish some of the "higher profile" reviewers would spend some friggin money on something like that instead of trying to talk over it and yelling out excuses for the wind. Not that your not one of the better channels., cause you definitely are.

  • Thanks for the review Steve! I've been on the fence about these for a while but with your input, I'm a believer now.

  • RIA also have a double stacked 1911 for around 475, will probably be my next purchase

  • great video and review :)

  • wow your vids are getting so much better, great shooting too. i have seen those rock island 1911s around, if i chose to buy a 1911 i think this one has my vote.

  • great video! ive been wanting to check these out they have good prices and your video just convinced me

  • looks like you are enjoying that 1911. The grin on your face was an obvious tip off. Great vid. Very nice grouping by the way.

  • Good vid steve. the ria is looking pretty damn nice!

  • What is the knife in the video?

  • 2nd grouping looks like a dick ahah

another great vid keep it up!

  • looking like I will have to pick up one of these pistols. Been thinking about it for the great price...was worried about dependability. Nice shooting Steve..looking forward to your next video.

  • Very nice!

  • HELP??and by the way i just got it in today

  • why cant i load my rock island 1911 with jhp? Every time i try to load in a round it doesn't even go into the chamber and instead it jams!!!O__0

  • Sir you are a friggin awesome shot. Thanks for the review. I have a RIA 1911A2FS and love it.

  • Nice review, great shooting even with cold hands!

  • nice

  • my RIA tactical shoots at the very top of the front sight post which is exactly where i like it.

  • excellent video again Steve

  • Awesome video Steve!!! I'm seeing these RIAs popping up all over Youtube these days. All these guys might be swaying my opinions of the 1911.

  • AHAHah Pete from the Armorychannel just got his RIA.

  • Nice shooting Steve. Great video too I really liked how you filmed and edited it. Big thumbs up!

  • Nice shooting Steve

  • thumbs up for the pointer/knife

  • I've never seen a silver framed RIA 1911. Is that a special model? because it looks really good.

  • @chanderson1 that's their matte nickel frame.

  • ive been hearing a lot about these RIA 1911's might have to check them out

  • Is a GI-true M1911 supposed to be set for holdover, normal sight picture, or 6 O'clock hold? I heard you say you were going to up the holdover a bit, if I heard correctly. I have a SW1911 and it's not exactly the same as the original Browning design so I am curious.

If you have larger to extra large hands you might want to try the hogue grip, unless you hate finger grooves. I love them though. Nice vid and good purchase! It's definitely a high value gun for the money!

  • @ssdwellah all of my GI's had a 6 o'colck sight hold.

  • @TacticalTuckFard Thanks for the info. Sounds like maybe Steve's pistol is shooting a bit low. Steve, is there a rear elevation adjustment on the RIA 1911, do you need to install a shorter front sight, or would you just put up with holding higher (which covers the view of your target a bit)?

  • really nice 1911. My friend had his rock island coated in Duracoat and it looks really nice. Excellent choice

  • That's some really nice shooting, gotta love the grouping. I gotta ask though what knife is that and where can I get one?

  • Great shooting review for the Rock Island Armory 1911 45 firearm. Love the HPR ammo as well. Thanks for sharing and posting.
