06 World Salsa Championships: 2nd place on2 division

Unfortunately the tendency seems to be to make a maximum of rotations in a minimum of time... For me that's too much technique and not enough Salsa.

I love the style of Joseph + Corinne from Montreal: It is very rich, with many variations,

but most of all it is pure Salsa feeling !

There is one video "Salsa Extreme" and another one, more recently, from a Salsa World Championship in Montreux where they were placed 1st - both times in yellow costumes.

yo aqui veo mucha tecnica y poca cadencia, pero siempre digo lo mismo, una cosa es la competicion y otra el baile, las cosas cambian. If you're looking for simpler dancing go to a salsa club or salsa social, and if you would still like to talk about their dancing skills, then go dance with either of them socially. I have danced with Emily and she is an amazing follow and Junior a great lead for women.

I think this is very fun to watch and I cannot do it myself. But I also have to say it seems to me more like acrobatics than salsa. (This is my opinion!) So as a compromise for all the agruing on this site: This is a championship that has certain standards by which is said the dancing is good salsa or not. In other places these standards can be way different. So the different opinions are not wrong (note: an opinion can never be wrong).

I like to watch this video and dance 'real' salsa myself.

So for all of u people saying that this is not salsa.. i pose the questions: 1) How should salsa competitions be judged if salsa dancing is not about spins and moves? 2) Do you know the difference between social dancing and choreographed dance? ==> also, if u say that they are not feeling the music, ur probly wrong. in order to dance on2 u have to feel the tumbao rhythm (drum). when ppl first learn, they sometimes dont feel it but once they are comfortable with the rhythm.. it is all feeling.
