  • I seen them on this tour and Gary fit just fine!

  • gary has a good voice but it just doesn't fit somehow

  • Very interesting comment about Anthony's vocals, if you listen to the old demos with Gene Simmons, his voice was great, hit all the highs, and rock solid on back up vocals. Eddie could hold a note too, but Michael gave a ton of support to Dave's weaknesses.

  • IN @1:11 THEY LOOK LIKE GHOST BUSTERS! HAHAHAHA

  • ED LOST ALL CREDABILITY W WOLFIE ON BASS..BIG FAT MONEY WILL FUCK UP YOUR HEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ed turned into a waste when Sammy finally balls'd up and left the band, and after that they haven't been the same. None of the singers can sing any of the others' music at all, the chemistry was by far the best with Hagar, you can NOT deny that or you're an idiot, the music was good with all of them except Cherone (in my OPINION) but you guys can like whatever Van Halen you want, I'm just saying it's not the same anymore and it never will be.

  • What the hell is Michael doing in Chicken Foot? Just listen to the backing vocals on the old VH albums for Gods sake!

  • I love VH III, myself.

  • Sure Gary Cherone was not a good fit for the band but I do not think he did a bad job. There is just too much history on those songs with Dave or Sammy that you just cannot imagine anyone else doing a better job. I do not think David Lee Roth could sing Humans Being because this too high for him and his voice will not be able to handle it. They will always be a great band no matter who is fronting them. Bring back Michael Anthony! It is just not the same without him.

  • @Guitarist1972 I agree on most of what you say but I think Humans being is the only Hagar song what Roth could actually pull off. Personally I would like to see Mike Anthony ,Sammy Hagar, David Lee Roth , Eddie & Alex tour as Van Halen. I

  • MIke should be the next lead singer for VH

  • 02.49 omfg!

    Perfect tapping with slide!

  • holy shit mike did a kick ass job

  • Van Halen sucked Gary Cherone was with them. Gary Cherone never sang Humans Being. This was a thing Eddie AND sAMMY CAME UP WITH.

  • Ed announces Mike at the end. Just how bad was their animosity? It seems like Ed needed someone to blame for his personal life issues and he couldn't do without both Sam and Dave so he kicked the dog instead? yeah yeah... I know he wanted to replace Mike since 81, but I see no real reason to boot him at this stage.

  • Who is barking all the time? :S

  • Gary didnt write Humans Being Sammy did. I wouldnt Gary Cherone that much credit.

  • therefore i like the pictures at teh start more, should better chosen one or another not both, but however thnx for posting

  • happens when u mix a clip with live music ;-)

  • video and audio are out of sync, unfortunately

  • I hate the Gary era. I don't hate Gary. I just hated the fact that VH3 was a cobbled together wothless turd of an album. Balance was a great Album. I was hoping for a follow up even better. I bought VH3. Put it in my cars cd player. I was so disappointed. I throw it out the window.

  • nice drum mix, unfortunately the rest is crap..

  • Mike was just as important to VH than Eddie and Roth. There is no reformation without Mike.

  • Sorry, but it sounds like Gary was always trying to sound like Sammy.

  • @flamingcurent - He really did though, I thought.

  • Gary doesn't butcher Humans Being for one, and second this is ironically the best live version of the song I've found on YouTube. Eddie certainly is "on fire" as well!

  • sounds good to me

  • great humans being redid, what is gary up to now?

  • @PETALFLOWERPOWER

He's back with Extreme. From what I hear, they're plotting a 20th anniversary tour for Pornograffiti.

  • @PatVanHalen5150 who gary or eddie?

  • @PETALFLOWERPOWER

    Gary......

  • Am I the only one who thinks that Gary is not bad? Not bad at all. He's got a good energy and a good voice. His only problem is he hasn't a very particulary timbre, unlike Roth or Hagar, who had that unique timbre. And without a very personal and recognizable timbre it must be very difficult to fit in a band like VH, because with a guitarist like Eddie you have to have a very, very personal timbre if you don't want to be covered by his guitar.

I hope my english isn't to bad ^^

  • @jazztom86 That might be why Gary could only sound like Sammy Hagar with them.

  • Cool music video for this song :)

  • 1:08

trying to look like the matrix - and fail.

    lol

  • ha, especially Alex

  • The only problem with that theory is, that pic was taken before the matrix even came out!

  • nice

  • Personally, I think they should have promoted Mike to singer and that would be that. The best voice they ever had is now in Chickenfoot.... and I'm not talking about Hagar.

  • Hey DickKuzi!!! youve finally said something halfway intelligent!! I said halfway, dont get excited!! Sorry i keep fucking your name up!! It just fits!!!!!!!!! DarthKuzi......

  • Comment removed

  • Just messing with you DarthKazi!!!! You seem like a pretty cool dude!! Well thats obvious, your watching EVH!!!!!

  • @DarthKazi I couldn't agree with you more. Mike was a great singer and usually wound up carrying both Dave & Sammy at a lot of shows. Why record something so high and know there's no way you going to hit thoses notes night after night . Everyone still cheats the one that should matter most. The fans! Right or wrong?

  • @DarthKazi Never thought of that, but a great idea!

  • @DarthKazi

Mike is a good singer, the only song I can find with him singing any part is in Why Can't this be love with Gary...

  • @FarmGuy4020 Search for "Somebody get me a Doctor" during their 1998 tour and there's at least 1 video of Michael singing the whole thing on lead vocals.

  • With me, I just pay attention to the 3 musicians in the band.

I tune out the singer schmoes....

  • aaaugh Gary Cherone ?!?! what happened ?!? Do you guys remember that they offered the job to Patty Smyth ? And she turned them down !!! I think she woulda been great , . . .

  • Liked Cherone's voice in Extreme BUT what I never liked where his frontman antics. He just comes across really fruity in whatever he tried. This was amplified when he tried to front VH.

There's one particular moment where he bends over, doubling over, reaches his hand between his legs and grabs/slaps his own ass. WTF?!?!

  • gary remind me of brian johnson from acdc because they are both good at singing in their own way if they have the right band and vh wasn't garys

  • True. also the songs where not very good. you can shoot Gary but you gota sink one into Eddie to, the van halen fans find it easier to simply blame gary .

  • i think cherore it's a good singer and did a good job in VH.... but i reaaly prefer dave's / hagar's era!

  • cherone sounded good with extreme but his singing sucks with van halen hagar shouldve stayed

  • I dunno...I kinda wish they were still with Hagar. Love all VH stuff but i prefer Hagar. The album after Balance with Sammy would've probably been another #1...

  • They should have tried it as a trio for awhile.

  • i agree but dave and sammy added so much to the band(s)

  • "somebody get me a shot" Mikey does a killer job

    great video

  • Yeah, he's way underrated! Great vocals and punch!

  • no, humans being is a Hagar song, right, I was wrong

  • this is the only good song from VH 3, rest is shit, and so is Gary with VH, ROTH RULEZ

  • i agree..VH 3 wasn't a very good album

  • Ed wrecked this song in 2004.

  • This was great, but would have been fucking AMAZING had Hagar been there to do the vocals and second guitar.

  • Van Halen 3 was a really good album released at the the wrong time with not enough support from Warner Bros. Just from a personal stand point, the album was to raw, angry and emotional for FM radio success in the late 90's. Had it come out anywhere between 86 to 93 it would have done well. I actually think its logical counterpart in the VH cannon would be Fair Warning.

  • Finally someone agrees with me.

  • I never knew Mike did this! It's great!

  • wow mikey is the man!

  • Eddie is the best!!!!.

    Omar from Lima, Peru.

    Van Halen: come here, please!!!!

  • I think that Gary Cherone is awesome in Extreme but I don't think he fit in with Van Halen.

  • @denton908 Nope. Too Flamboyant (gay)

  • your retarded Gary sucks VH III was a failure Dave and Sammy are way better

  • EDDIE IS INSANE!!!Doctors wont do a thing!!

  • MA is the best singer in this line-up. Bring him back.

  • not after what he did to eddie.

  • what did he do to Ed? Side with Sam?

  • he didn't show up to ed's mother's funeral, after everyone, even dlr showed up.

  • where'd ya hear this?

  • an interview. i don't remember even the name of the interview or anything.

  • When was the funeral......how did you hear this?........

  • i honestly don't remember. i just remember hearing it and thinking to myself that he was an asshole for doing that.

  • Eddie needs meds. He's tossed a lot of good people.

  • ed needs someone to get him a doctor.

  • thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • SAMMY works better washing cars,

    DAVES the man.

  • el rey, el maestro ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • is this motherfucker fast fowarding the song wtf man????????????

  • " Gary doesnt really hurt or help Humans Beings."

    Haaa! I hear ya...

  • u dumbass u cant mess up a damn classc like that man u guys suck balls and dick

  • see if eddie was playing this good during the sammy reunion of 2004, they might be making new records with Sammy again., but eddie had to go and get fucked up shit faced drunk and that totally screwed over any chance of Van Halen reuniting for good, and this most recent tour is not a reunion with DLR. it was eddies only option because he didnt want to try again with Sammy and a DLR tour would be the best way to make a quick buck. As far as Im concerned, Van Halen is dead. Gone but not forgotten.

  • Dead On, Brother.

  • Well said.

  • 1000% correct. No chance of ever playing with Sammy or Mike ever again. To top it off, I am sure Eddie is irritable with Sammy's success with the Cabo Wabo brand and the profits he's now realized with it all. Sammy is just as smart business-wise as he is with music.

  • Gary is fine with singin just he can NOT sing Van Halen's songs

  • Uhhhhhh dude you can tell that Ed has been messed up ever since 1986.

  • This might very well be the dumbest statement of the year. Ed was the greatest guitar player going from the mid 70s to late 90s. He had a battle with the bottle for a few years and he's back to his old self as of early 2008, the greatest.

  • lol check out "van halen - horrible" on here hes off the rails again dude, shame really...........he cant even walk on stage

  • yeah that was an off night big time. however, when they resumed the tour in april 2008 until they stopped in june, he was amazing every night.

  • man, I bet Gary wished he were making music with Extreme and Nuno back then instead of these guys

  • who cares who is singing did you hear that guitar? this might be eddies best.

  • it wasnt that Gary was a bad singer...in fact...extremes album Pornographiti is pretty damn good...he just got fucked over because he was the 3rd man in and VH fans were gettin tired of the routine.

  • I fully agree!!

Gary could have been great with VHs

  • Killer clip. I also saw them on this tour. Man did Eddie play well!

  • Cherone is a good singer, but Sammy and David are the best!!!! W VH

  • I gotta be honest, I absolutely LOVE the Van Halen III album. This stuff is just amazing. Thanks for posting it 5150EVH5150.

  • this isnt from van halen 3

  • Yeah, I know the music isn't from VHIII, but I was talking about the line-up of the band.

  • I liked Gary. I thought he fit the band pretty well. VH was great when I saw them in '98. It's too bad Eddie went on his little ego trip and basically ruined what was once the greatest rock band in America.

  • Ed looks like Wolfgang here.

  • I think Gary tried too hard to be Sammy Hagar. If he had added a new element, a unique sound or anything maybe Van Halen 3 would have been a better album. As for my point of view any album that brings EVH to play the Sitar as a lead instrument is definetly flawed. However it does give us a chance to hear Eddie sing lead for once, Mike's turn anyone?

  • I gotta be honest, I quite like the Van Halen III album.

  • This tour was awesome, God bless Gary for having big effing balls for singing Sam and Dave tunes. Good times, if you dont like it, go eff yourself.

  • wow gary really butchered humans being lol eddie sounds good though

  • well that was michael anthony singing somebody get me a doctor..

  • and it sounded really sweet! Mike has some awesome lead vocals! wow. Im impressed. :D

  • If you like this you should check out the Michael Anthony Naam jam where he performs with nuno from Extreme this very song. It rocks, check it out right here on youtube.

  • wow gary does SUCK!!!!

  • SAMMY ROCKS! FUCK YOU assholea.I still love dave. Sammy is BETTER!!!

  • makes me wanna go chase some tornadoes

  • Well, go do it.

  • haha, i know what you mean

  • Gary is a good singer but doesnt belong in Van Halen, hes got totaly difernt style

  • jvais vous dire que gary etais tres bien dans vh...gary is good

  • so do you.....

  • garys good on this version at least

  • nice song im mean songs

  • Looks to me as Mike was a VERY capable vocalist in his own right.......maybe he should have been the one to replace DLR in the 1st place?

  • Mike is an excellent vocalist, but I'm sure part of the reason he didn't assume the lead vocalist role was because he's never distinguished himself writing songs or lyrics like Dave or Sammy.

  • Tight harmony on the chorus....Agreed....I was a Cheronne hater (DLR purist at heart). He rocks this tune. Ed is off the hook

  • Im impressed at how well Gary did on this song.

  • I liked VH3 a lot. Wish they would've made another one.

  • Me too man!

  • Gary maybe wasn't the best VH singer but hid did a great job on the most of Humans Being durning the 98-99 III tour, and he's a great entertainer.

  • Where is this from?

  • Man..gary did an excellent job on this..

  • Gary's shouting actually works for Humans Being.

  • Not a big fan of the cherone era, but he is better than most people give him credit for. The music was different with him. I thought it in no way compared in the slightest to anything with dave or sammy, but it wasnt complete garbage. But that is over and done. Look out for a new album with Dave, if they release one, it WILL kickass.

  • DAMN!!!! Never heard mike do lead vocals bfore!!! it really works! me likey

  • This was a badass tour, Gary was cool. Too bad nobody gave hime a fair shot, one of THE best VH shows Ive ever seen.

  • Even though im not a fan of the cherone album, they actually really ripped it up on that tour with him

  • Still think Sammy is better.

  • esse video e incrivel

  • this sounds better here live than it did on the 2004 tour.

  • gary sounds good in this.

  • I've been watching VH concert videos for the last 3 hours, spanning '78-'07 and I gotta say that, on this track anyway, Mike sings better/more consistently than either Dave or Sam live. What I wanna know is, why didn't they just go 3-piece/power trio when they "parted ways" with Dave and make Mike the main singer? That could have saved us all from the mediocre singing and sappy/crappy songwriting of Sam.

  • I think it's because Mikes voice is so perfect for the top notes of the two and three part harmonies. He can hit the high notes full-voice while most people have to go falsetto for them. Without a lead singer, Eddie and Mike could do the two part harmonies, but there wouldn't be any more three part harmonies. But I agree with you 100%. Mike has one of the best voices in rock.

  • Right on shodhead. Mike got the hugh voice. As Sammy said, Mike is the background vocal sound of van halen.

  • Gary is alright, but Sammy can beat him any day.

  • And David can beat Sammy any day.

  • lol absolutly.

  • Lol, VHBand, you're funny.

  • In a good way or a bad way.

  • This is awful, gary cherone obviously doesnt suit VH Eddies solos are also out of tune :(

    This is sad.......

  • woops did i say dave and eddie? i meant alex and eddie.

  • gary sucked he made van halen sound like extreme.eddie kicked mike out just like he fired sammy and dave before.

  • I agree with ya man:)

  • oh so that's the name you give to the VH family, Fag Van Suckin??? no. Wolfie is a great bass player, and so is MA. I'm not saying one is better than the other, just that you shouldn't dis Wolfie just bcaus hes a kid and Mike was the original. At least give Wolf some time to do the job!!!

  • dont worry man this guys only 22 he doesnt know about the original van halen like we do he wasnt even born yet.hes still sucking his mommys tits.hahahahahahaha!!!bring back mikie on bass wolfie is just a fat punk kid..

  • Relax, chief...I was only letting out some steam. I didn't mean a word of it, honest.

  • I didn't know Mike could sing.

  • Slippery timing in the solos. Not many guitarists could play around the beat like that without sounding like a mistake.

  • aaah come on people, the band is called Van Halen.... You must admit that even if it is just Van Halen with random people playing bass and drums you would still go to a concert to see him play. Van Halen is Van Halen and thats it, He is Unique and The best Guitar player ever period. Vocalist and bass you find everywhere.

  • this was NOT Van Halen! Ill agree with the bass, maybe even the drums.. But Van Halen was/IS Dave and Ed

  • Interesting version... specially that this is one of my overall fav VH songs.

As a Hagar era fan I can say Gary did a decent version himself, not bad!

Didn't like Eddy's version of the song though, felt like he was showboating too much

  • CHERONE SUCKS!

  • Gary's the best...not a lot of lead singer/frontmen would surrender the lead vocal to another bandmate for an entire song...and I love how he runs back on stage to the "woo-woo"

This was one of the best concerts I've ever been to.

  • see they really didnt need gary there, micheal sang it perfectly, they could do with just 3 memebers and people would still go watch them.

  • You honestly think Michael Anthony passed up an opportunity to reunite with the original line-up to play on a tour with Sammy? What are you kidding? He can play with Sammy at ANY time. Eddie kicked him out, the paranoid SOB

  • Right on!!! Michael Anthony took a lot of shit from the VH bros which he shouldn't have. But in the end his backing vocals are an essential part of VH and they should never have kicked him out - they should have just added Wolfie on 2nd guitar.

  • MA = Heart & Soul of VH. Suck without him, no matter what lineup. Damn Eddie...let the guy back in.

  • its not eddies fault...michael anthony wanted to go on tour w/ sammy hagar
