Only a retarded person cannot understand that he was a Cia operative or someone who was able to do that thanks to his relations with important persons... you can easily understand it... when you hear the first part of this interview. Best workers (pilots, economists, lawyers, engineers, doctors and so on) were always hired for these kind of skunk works.
It's usually some one other then the actual person incharge aka "mastermind" that screws everything up. Most these guys have come up with genius, new, sophisticated, and creative ways to do old crimes making themselves innovaters. Some of these masterminds have changed federal laws, changed the design of an enitre countrys currency, and defrauded the most skilled experts in there fields, all reasons these criminals are masterminds. Despite getiing caught they have done something amazing
I think they are Masterminds. It takes alot of smarts and balls to do what some of these guys do. When it takes hundreds of man hours to catch one man that says something about that one man.
I've been thinking about this alot lately. With the corruption that lives freely in NEPA,my how the wheels keep turning and the web keeps spinning.
With the current debacle in the tax office[over 12 MILLION in a secret bank account] and a banker who knew all about it and all of the pollitical cronies involved, not only in that but almost everything else mentioned on this site...
It reminds me of another story in NEPA past.
Does anyone remember The AIR AMERICA/RICKY LUYTJES STORY??
@sheemsheem The person who paid him in 3,000 pills was an agent for sure, see how that all played out? they gave it, caught him with it, recruited him with no charges.
i just saw an episode where a dude robbed banks for 25 years and netted over a couple mil. 25 years, thats more than 8 times longer than john dillengers or clyde barrows robbery spree, and he did it without killing anyone or without anyone even knowing his identity and in a world where cops have more technology/training than in dillengers day. i'd say that qualifies him as a "mastermind"
if you base if someone is a mastermind by if they get busted or not then really, noone is a criminal mastermind. the term "mastermind" i think refers to innovative methods some of the criminals came up with to commit crime that netted them more money more often.
They call it masterminds because of the methods that the criminals used to carry out they're plans. They put together they're plans using the equipment that they had, a keen since of knowledge, and the wisdom on how to execute their plans to near perfection. But it's always those simple human elements that brings them down. Things like addictions, greed, and pride. If they could say that enough is enough. But I bet that there's at least one mastermind who got away with it.
A real mastermind would steal millions and be able to come forward and then just as quickly disappear. Frank Abignale conned millions then switched sides and earned more millions. D.B. Cooper confessed on his deathbed after hijacking a plane. They are masterminds not four guys who robbed a library or a drug smuggler.
Why do they call this show masterminds if eventually they get caught in their criminal activity. I mean if they were true masterminds then there would not be a show on them. Masterminds are the ones who don't ever get caught and can resist their own true human nature of greed. lol
I believe they call it Masterminds because of the sophistication of the operations being done. Like honestly, would you have thought of the shit these people come up with?
That was a good thanx! Yeah I think he's still alive as well enjoying his millions in his faked death. If he is alive hes a true mastermind lol. But he had to to think long and hard to plan such a infamous scam. Investing in stock has always made me nervous don't think I would ever invest in anything.
@divonne1978 I wondered that too...its a catchy name as MstrMndsTV said, also, maybe its aimed at building cops a reputation of being so good that no one can get away with crime...which is bullshit obviously...
@divonne1978 They call them masterminds for the way they work, being a mastermind is like playing chess, sooner or later you are gonna lose,so here we see real smart people who got away in a very smart way and show to police that there is always new tricks to learn...remember nothing last forever and the word mastermind has nothing to do with eternity, you should put that in your mind..
Great show, but he wasnt the greatest smuggler in US history. Far from it. Watch Cocaine Cowboys. Its here on youtube. Youll see who were the greatest smugglers in history.
