yeah boosters are intieresting, if you build multiple ones in a row you wont go faster but you will get more energy so you will go further. One is usually enough to get you from point A to point B as displayed in the video

@AustinSullivan13: nope that's the problem with stacking minecarts. there's a booster method, which uses another minecart running along side your minecart to give your cart a boost. make as many of those as you need to run as along as you need to. there are tutorials on youtube, just look it up
