I heard that Half-Life is known for using stock sounds from Movies, other Games and TV shows, but I hadn't noticed that the teleportation of the device sounds like the beginning of the TARDIS dematerialization.

I maybe would - but it does the sound only one time while being applied to a stider.

I don't think so, at least in the test range it keeps making the noise every few seconds. It's the coolest sound! I couldn't stop launching those at it just to hear the noise.

I think the handheld portal device and the gravity gun are far more innovative. But yeah - it was an interesting weapon.

Hmm.. I think this one has only military purposes, so it doesn't apply to any other areas... the other 2 weren't really made for that, but do good in all situations...
