  • True. A little less talking IMO and would be enjoyable ;P

  • SHUT THE FUCK UP!

  • so boring stop talking plz

  • Even in context, that didn't sound very good...

  • this video needs MORE COWBELL!!!!

  • shit john ritters still alive

  • WHY did it take the man two minutes to show how to play such a lame 'riff'

  • you boring!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Cliche cliche cliche cliche Cliche cliche cliche cliche Cliche cliche cliche cliche Cliche cliche cliche cliche Cliche cliche cliche cliche Cliche cliche cliche cliche Cliche cliche cliche cliche Cliche cliche cliche cliche Cliche cliche cliche cliche Cliche cliche cliche cliche Cliche cliche cliche cliche Cliche cliche cliche cliche Cliche cliche cliche cliche Cliche cliche cliche cliche Cliche cliche cliche cliche Cliche cliche cliche cliche Cliche cliche cliche cliche Cliche cliche cliche

  • The real name of this video: "How to lose "2.01" in a life"

  • more play'in....less talk'in.....but good tone...sounds good.

  • man, you talk too much!

  • Ever heard of a hair dressers, or a barbers, or a salon?

  • this is the first video i've disliked ever

  • It's also not a riff. It's a lick.

  • 1. This is not a rake.

    2. Not a chance this guy understands that the reason that particular tritone sounds good over the IV chord is because it is comprised of the color tones from the IV7 chord, i.e. the 3rd and b7th. or that he can simply move it up one fret to use it on the I chord.

  • action in 1:42

  • who the fuck says it works real cool

  • and agains it works real cool

  • Shut up and play your guitar !!!!!!

  • oh...so ugly american accent...can't listen it...

  • how gay

  • 0:44

    thats where it starts

  • So much fail

  • Wanker!

  • Yaaaaay I's the 80s again!

  • SHUT THE FUCK UP AND PLAY!

  • stop talking,MY GOD!

  • Was that a riff? lol

  • Awesome video! Thank you for taking the time to post this.

  • He faps to his own voice notes..

  • hardly a "riff"

  • this guy talks a little bit too much! just show us the riff straight up!

  • What happened ? I fell asleep!

  • This helped alot actually!.. What you mentioned is exactly my problem. I can solo on my root note all day long but the transition to another note is what is had troubles with. THIS WAS VERY HELPEFULL THANK YOU!

  • what was that? This was a shit video, imo. That wasn't a riff, that was just a 4th(?) on the 7/8th fret. :S

  • far too much talking

  • a tritone is not a riff....

  • i dont see the point in knowing this, its yeah it's commonly used, but it's not bare essential to lead guitar, a lead guitarist should know their scales and have developed their own riffs, sound and play style through "riff farming" using their scales including penetonics and apregios

  • too much bla bla for not so good advice....

  • God, how many guitars can you have?!?!?!?

  • This is not a rake. A rake is where you RAKE down, or up, a few muted strings to hit the one that you want. LIsten to/watch Stevie Ray Vaughan's version of Little Wing and you'll know what a rake is.

  • @verbw002 I agree. Dave Gilmour does it on the comfortably numb and another brickin the wall solos too

  • @aquariussouldier It's a good blues technique, sounds really cool if done right! Btw, LOVE David Gilmour!

  • @verbw002 exactly what I thought of when he first mentioned the word rake!

  • you talk too much - play !

  • @arontao holy shit!!! Excellent!!

  • john travolta + craig t nelson

  • This is why (and I'm not even joking) so many younger people give up on taking lessons.

  • Do you have to blab blab blab so much? STFU already!

  • 0:50 that's what she said

  • I don't have to know any of this!!!

  • i need help identifing my acoustic, come n see!

  • John Ritter and John Travolta from pulp fiction fused together = this guy.

  • 5 stars!!! Thank you...

  • stop talking please

  • vincent vega

  • talk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk, talk, talktalk

  • @MacReverb2 Naaa... i prefer VirginMedia over TalkTalk... but its up to you :) (joking around, don't hit me)

  • @MacReverb2

    LoooooooooooooooooL

  • @MacReverb2 This video could've been done in 20 seconds.

  • @MacReverb2 is a lesson about one riff.., not a collection

  • sounds so bad I want to hit myself with a rake

  • A little dissonant?......

  • vigo the carpathian?

  • Comment removed

  • This thing works in testicle reform! Transribe Audio!

  • man, you make guitar look/sound HARD. heres how to play. learn the major and minor pentatonic. memorize what it sounds like. listen hard to your favorite song, find the key its in

and fill in the blanks! Hendrix didn't have youtube, didn't need it

  • @Tastyspanishpaella LOL, hendrix didnt need it but the rest of us do.

  • sounds like u broke a string

  • Nice camera work!

  • hes kinda right tho, I have noticed some of Dwight Yoakms songs do do that. nice.

  • I always thought a rake was a fast slightly muted upstroke across a chord... a little like a sweep on the downstroke.

  • A two note bend is not a riff.....

  • Jesus GET TO THE FUCKING LESSON you talk too much

  • Comment removed

  • That was actually pretty straightforward.

  • I think my ears just popped.

  • When did John Ritter grow long hair?

  • STOP TALKING! Play it once regular speed, then slow it down and show it, then another time a little faster. DON'T TALK FOR 2:01 AND SHOW 2 NOTES!

  • @mikie6453mikie Dude, he tells you where you can use it and who actualy uses it. That's useful information.

  • I would rather chew on a mouth full of needles than listen to this guy for 4 fuckin hours. I would stop playing the guitar if I had to listen to this for 4 hours...

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzz wake me up when he goes over the top 25 riff part...

  • this guy used to be my guitar teacher, how did i come across this?

  • All you guys hating this video will be using that riff... no doubt. 2 minuets people. Take the info and go with it.

  • ok....thats certainly one way to learn some guitar 'tricks'.....me i like to jam with jazz guitar greats (Wes et al) and listen to the sounds and tempos they are doing and they get engrained in my music awareness that way....both work....though I dont name these techniques like arpeggio #47......if it feels right I just do it.

  • ...his hair is diminished!!

  • he owns almost every guitar ive ever wanted to know

  • @SpargoReesMusic Pretty bad video when people are looking at the background instead of listening to him... lol

  • What a horrible sound... Thank god it's only 2 minutes instead of 4 HOURS

  • when does he stop talking bollox?

  • I liked that bit of info, Thanks for the tip, I'll be incorporating that into my Pentatonic blues riffs.

  • In no way is, "how to play lead guitar" a riff,... unless there is a song with the name and has a riff in it.

  • why all the distortion when trying to teach, it's very annoying, i liked the beginning of your lesson but after hearing all that distortion, I keep looking for someone else that does not need effects to teach guitar...what a headache, cant you just teach us how to play clean.

  • this is actually a very informative lesson, STFU for people who can't read the title!

  • @ridahgadgetguy True. I went thru all 25 riffs and there are a few good ones I've been focusing on. Apparently not everyone either understands or appreciates what this guy is trying to teach. These aren't stand alone licks, you incorporate this stuff into your solos people.

  • I am naked.

  • @Alexander87oclock me too bro

  • I wonder what it would sound like without the noisy effects. This sound semi-awful

  • john travolta?

  • @rokamikas John Ritter i presume

  • @rokamikas Nah, John Ritter.

  • @rokamikas 77

  • @rokamikas DUUUH you made my day !! XD :D

  • @rokamikas c'mon guys thise is a cool vid, mess around with somwhere else. ;)

    p.s: definitely travolta. -0ha-h-aha-ha

  • @brilligate Actually I think I'm gonna buy his guitar course. I like how he teaches.

  • I like ti use my pinky too...but for other things 8)P

  • I think I'm dying.

  • I totally missed the chapter in the "Internet Guitar Lesson Manifesto" where it says you need to blab on for the first 45 seconds of every 1:30 Instructional video. I'll have to go back and re-read.

  • @daltiger this is a part of a 4 hour long tutorial and this guy aint the uploader.

  • @daltiger Totally. If they're gonna do that, at least put WHEN the actual guitar playing is in the description.

  • @daltiger its an instructional video...

  • tell ur story walking

  • love his flow

  • It appears this guy uses his pinky.

  • Guy from Slade needs to skip dessert.

  • THE MUSIC INDUSTRY EXPOSED - Destroying DMX

  • haha you're afucking idiot.

  • its john travolta!!!!!!

  • "Don't talk PLAY. Music is about playing, right. In fact music is the real way of talking. If there was a competition for non stop talking bull shit I guess you'd win right.

  • A rake is what your right "picking" hand does, in a technique called sweep-picking, when you "rake'" the pick up and down the strings. There's a lot more to sweeping, but this man is defintely not sure on the terminology. I would call this, a diminished/augmented half-bend.

  • An example of this riff in use is if you listen to the first riff in the solo to "hands to yourself" by the Georgia Satellites. Cheers

  • This man is an idiot.

  • It sounds nice if you use a clean tone. If it's a distorted tone you just sound like you're dropping your guitar..

  • That just sucked... ok? 2mins to explain that? : D

  • thanks, it is a great lick -- agree with other comments to make these short and to the point -- you have good stuff to offer

  • You look like Vincent Vega...

  • Thanks!--but please get some Noiseless pickups! :)

  • a bald long haired man right thurrr

  • This is not a rake..

  • I use my pinky

  • Is that bob rock?

  • @UnOwInGeD I think you mean Bob Cock xD. No he isn't Bob..

  • i didnt know john ritter played guitar!

  • That's not a rake.

  • @Axxorz That's right, it's a double stop.

  • watch?v=VHytQsXR2_I

  • How the hell do you figure that's called a 'rake'? You just make that up? Call it a bend. A rake is a muted sweep, dude. Check out The Allman Bros 'Gamblers Roll' for a good example by Dickie Betts. SRV used it alot too.

  • BRETT HART

  • It's pretty fucking annoying actually..

  • @yaznoor24 not really, check marty schwartz funk solo lesson, he uses this in his solo, and it sounds pretty goood there

  • @Phazur Okay, thank you, I'll look into it. In this video, it doesn't sound good & I didn't think a bend was supposed to sound that way at all. I'm a beginner, but I still trust the ol' ears on what sounds good or not!

  • Sorry, but too much talk - too less action. Wonder why, some og tou guys talks so much, that when it comes to teaching, most of it is common knowledge for juniors. My advise : Talk less - teach more!

  • and the 25 riffs????

  • your gay

  • @pors84 stfu noob.

  • Nice hair :)

  • This was very good. Thanks alot.

  • Yeh, screw your rake...

  • Is a very cool sound

  • This is a lick not a riff..

  • Well, let's start with that NOT being actually a riff...

  • i clicked here expecting to see 25 short riffs i must know, and what do i get? fucking idiot who posted this shit

  • @strahinje Did you really think you were going to see 25 riffs in two minutes? Get real.

  • @strahinje hahahahahhahaha. fucking idiot with a mullet. ugly as fuck

  • Holy crud, a 2 minute video about bending 2 strings?

  • 25 RIFFS ? WHERE ? SCREECHING GUITAR IS ALL I HEARD !

  • For some songs, you have to finger A minor! :OOO

  • That is not a rake. It may be called that but rake is a term already taken. It's when you "rake" a few strings before hitting a note.

  • I like this. Its just a simple blues bend. Most importantly, his intonation is correct. And it sounds good on nice fat speakers if you are using them. If you like it, come and see my vid, where I do the rake, mattock and shovel

  • i don't care what anyone says, i like it. and i like this guy too, reminds me of my neighbor...who coincidently does not rake. thanks for the vid, buddy

  • i can bend thanks

  • This is shit.

  • Co ja pacze?

  • 1:25 NO!...no.no..no..no.nonononono SSTTOOOPPP!!!! OH the HORROR!!!

  • some ppl understand this, some ppl dont. thats okay... everyone has different tastes... but in terms of blues that little tiny component of a lick can be effective as fuck

  • Is this even considered a riff...? It's like... a *component* of a riff at best.

  • Not a fan of "the rake"

  • Nice video! Easy to understand.

  • Awesome. I really appreciate it.

  • i have the same black lespaul up thair in the middle :)
