Just watched the movie, and the action, special effects, & acting were good. BUT the story line was TERRIBLE. The person who wrote it must have really HATED Gene Roddenberry. It's basically telling you to essentially throw just about all of Mr. Roddenberry's work in the garbage and rewrite the entire 40 years of his work. The writer & producer couldn't have done much more to defile his grave.

did you pay attention to the storyline at all, nero comes back from the future and alters the past creating an alternate timeline (they even say this in the movie) the original timeline from the original series STILL EXISTS i think that this storyline was very well written because it is not what you said it is.

So, you simply CANNOT talk shit about the storyline, tard, because IT IS GREAT, and NO, the "prime" universe WAS NOT DESTROYED! The travel created a new, paralel alternate universe, so not only it is WAY COOL, it actually opens the possibilities for more stuff based on such alternate universe.

Let's compare some of Star Trek's greatest movies:

2-KHAAN hijacks the Reliant and steals Genesis, a device which can miraculosly re-arrange matter to quickly create a full ecosystem, complete with full-grown plants

4-An alien probe is "accidentaly" trashing everything and can only talk with whales

10-A gay clone of Picard wants revenge for something he hasn't done.

8-The Borg travel to the past few hours before the first contact, instead of invading Earth during the Middle Ages or something.

I almost hate(not really) star trek cos for me it completely stupid, and when i saw the trailer i laughed so hard at thinking how bad this movie will suck.

After i saw the movie i was blown away.Gonna see it again tomorrow ^^

Really people, Are a few special effects, some action, & the Star Trek name all it takes for you to think it's a great movie. I prefer to keep my standards a little higher. You could probably call this film Terminator-Star Trek: The quest for a new plot-line. The romulan Nero really has to be the bottom of the barrel of the "Gene" pool given how stupid he is. You go back in time 100+ years and rather than prevent the disaster, let's take revenge on the people who tried to save your homeworld
