Ruki tells us how the name 'gazette' came to be:

They wanted a name with 'ga' 'gu' or 'gi' in it. (they are part of the phonetic alphabet).

For some reason they were interested in kayoukyoku (old Japanese folk songs) and they played on cassettes, so they stuck 'ga' with cassette: GA+CASSETTE=GAZETTE
