  • Anybody saying this is not better than a cover version is a complete c---:)

  • old school motherfuckin hip hop man

  • This is awesome! There will never ever be another 80's

  • @Saturn152 What about the 2080's? Just saying...

  • @TheCoops85 No it will just be a false imitation of the real 80's.

  • LoL, I didn't know this version was previous of RATM's one, this is fucking hilarious, good old rap, the true hip-hop.

  • saw his name as reference in a brazilian rap music, i checked it out and it's pretty good =)

  • true b-boy shit...Zulu Nation, summer of '83.....damn that was a good time to be a kid.....youngins today cant help that they were born after the fact....but ya'll fuckin missed it!!

  • 90% of rappers these days don't have the balls to go out and perform in costumes like that.

  • @Damienx247 thats because 90% of rappers these days come out the factory to the stores and on their little box in little letters, it says tallent not included

  • i honestly never knew that renegades of funk by ratm was covered. in fact, the whole album of theirs, "renegades" are covers. i think the point of that album is, is that they're covering all the some of the biggest renegades of music.

  • long live ZUZLU NATION!!! when thay shit hit that fan my nigga will now who goes! and who stays my nigga! BROWN and BLACK unite...........

  • luvin this......ahhhhh real hip hop

  • This generation cant create fuck all thats all not hard to understand.I wish they would.

  • Afrika Bambaataa+Kraftwerk+Detroit techno = Electro beginnings

  • @societyofsin Dont forget YMO,the first brothers to use the 808!!

  • @chrisrap4ever Agreed! How could I forget?

  • @societyofsin i dont judge you, just refer YMO cause a lot of brothers dont give em credit.its really good that you know and respect those things you ve already refered

  • да потому что клёво

  • ok this is a question I'd get answered easy on google, ut I'd love to have someone answere it personally, is there somewhere a song by africa bambaataa and Lord Quas???

  • the RATM cover of this was fuckin nice but nothing willever compare to the original

  • yeahh the year i was born!! 1983 ftw!! Bambaataa rules

  • This shit used to BLAST out of my Lasonic boombox in early 80s, nothing like it nowadays for kids. They got Lil Wayne's sorry ass, damn shame.

  • ..chevere..

  • thin about rap and hip-hop in the early days was, you just had to be there...it was special...in a way that cant be understood unless you were there...more so than any other style of music that hit it "big"...the 60's counter culture we get, jazz age we get, but this stuff is esoteric...

  • i was sad and this song made me happy.. such a lively music

  • Back when hip hop was about strong young people, makin art and livin unite, not about drugs and violence !!!

  • FRESH!!!!

  • rage against the machine

  • GTA vice city stories!!!

  • it is one of lifes great pleasures to find the original song from which a favorite of yours is sampled. especially when it is as fucking awesome as this. got to love them old school jams

  • after listening to ratm's version this becomes funny. Really nice version nevertheless.

  • @MSBasic really nice version???? This is the Original version and the best!!

  • @MSBasic And now i understand how genius Rocha was

  • TEM RAZAM MANO ESSES CARAS SÃO OS DEUSES DO MOVIMENTO!!!!

  • how the hell did i get from Metallica to here?

  • @lowbudgetmedia MC5?

  • esta bueno

  • This is a bad cover of RATM's song in my opinion :/

  • @TPom8458

its the Original , read some comments earlier next time

And RATM is NO Hip Hop , any Comparison is senseless

  • @zer0nable I doubt it mate, RATM are the most original band ever, how can you say they aren't hiphop compared to this crap?

  • @TPom8458 RATM is a great group w/ great music. but if it wasnt for Afrika Bambaataa & the Zulu Nation, they would have never been able to remake this. as a matter of fact, most of todays artists would have very little to work with had it not been for the originators of the funk & disco era. so, tell me why this is 'crap'.

  • @TPom8458 wtf? the Renegades album is a COVER ALBUM. wake up.*RATM just did a really good cover of this song.

  • @absourate [whispers] Psssst: Don't feed the trolls. :-D

  • @TPom8458 you too are on crack!! learn your music history before talking shit!

  • OLHAI NOVINHOS AI COMEÇOU BREAK DENCE!!!!

  • @SERGIO278165 Afrika Bambaataa, o pai do hip-hop, Zulu Nation, a família inteira!

  • fucking funky man

  • FACTS: There would be no rage version if it were not for these guys. The rage is absolute "Nonsense". Listen to the lyrics and you will understand that Bam in very well informed on the facts of our existence.

  • All these IDIOTS on here talking about they like the rage version better are clueless momos who no NOTHING about Hip Hop or the CULTURE. All Rage did was a COVER...They did it because the original is DOPE and they did justice to it buy COVERING it for simple minded people because of the pure ORIGINALITY of the art form. Just because they played it hard rock style doesn't make it BETTER than the ORIGINAL. Get the fuck outta here with that BULLSHIT. Pay attention to the MESSAGE and get a grip.

  • @dckirk100 chill.

  • Eu era criança!

  • excelente

  • this is awesome

  • Rage

  • For some reason youtube commenters can't get enough of the generational divide; it's a ridiculous way to appreciate musical genius in all eras, and speaks more to nostalgia for one's lost youth than anything else.

  • @travisnealtodd70 well shoot, I'm not nostalgic for this. I grew up more with Jay-Z, Eminem, and some of the more recent artists that have come up, and yet I can appreciate this. Can't hate what came before the artists I know now.

  • @travisnealtodd70 You mean that rather than appreciating it for it's shear musical and spiritual value, they say things like "I love oldschool" - is that what you mean?

  • @irongiant20012001 Yeah, something like that.

  • muy bueno EXCELENTE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • OLD SCHOOL MADAFAKAA (Y) !!

  • DAT FRAMELESS SHADES

  • "No matter how hard you try, you can stop me now".

Was trying to think where I know that from......and just remembered Temptations "Message From A Black Man"

  • i like both versions :)

  • What kind of retard thought that this is a cover? I hate society.

  • this is a nice cover.

  • @mistershake860 White oaf, this is the original

  • Elderly people remeber times of brotherhood. Now teens are spoiled by media whom bumbo klaats control. Seen? This is the reptilian brain era. Seen? Such negative people only produce wicked laughs. What happens inside is seen outside. And these poor people believe in propaganda. We're building democracy. Democracy in the hands of evil people is no better than dictatorship. It's sad that special services are in their hands too. Seen? See dem thru for their laughs and "happiness" is empty as vacuum

  • What a classic. Didn't know that RATM covered it. Jam suckaz. Every negativity is due to lack of positivity. Anti sociality stems from negativity. Such people are at top. That's why they are connected with occultism. Who has never had positive feelings for people, wasn't with people in positivity is negative. Hitler is such an example and their production. Seen? Simple but true. GOD wants us to be positive to help each other, cheer others. That's what normal people do.

  • Im 16 & I Love This Shit Cause Its Sick A'f & My Dad Used To Breakdance ^.^ & So Do I <3

  • @KinqqBizerkk54 nice...if it werent for my mother i dont know if id be as diverse in music as well. you should let your father know what you said here, i'm sure he would feel extra proud...

  • old school;) but RATM version is better:)...

  • were is the tool who always says " thumbs up if your listening to this in 2011" lol gee i wanna smash that dude haha

  • this is nice! i didnt know ratm did this as a cover.

  • Nobody brought me here.

I don't care about the dislikes.

    Thumbs up for who cares.

    Being top comment doesn't matter.

  • wtf nice costume

  • Rage Against the Machine brought me here

  • Comment removed

  • kings of music

  • @djcountry1985 Im 14, so I must be the 1% of teens these days who do know about this music and love it. It will always be better than the shit we have now.

  • i no this is the original. n meant to respect that. but this is queer as fuk

  • bambaataa coping kraftwark the germany

  • @educaralegal hater

  • I'm 17 and this is my FAVORITE kind of music. I hope nobody lets it die.

  • @s308904 i'm 16 and i've got same muthafuckin' opinion that you ;) thanks god that also todays teenagers listens this cool hip hop shit ;)

  • @s308904 Me too man, the thing you can do is bump this around all your friends.

  • this is classic but not really feelinit haha. i like the rage version better.

  • Gotta say I like RATM's version better because I grew up with Rage but definitely respect to the original.

  • @picassopainter2 definitely

  • @picassopainter2 I agree. RATM's cover IMO is vastly superior to the original, but the original does deserve credit. I can see how RATM were inspired by this.

  • Dang this whole night i've been just looking through all the old break beats, learning my roots. It feels good listening to all of them (I'm 14 and i bboy)

  • Planet Rock

Studio album by Afrika Bambaataa & Soulsonic Force

    Released December 1, 1986

  • Great!!! This is the funk's culture. I didn't know Afrika Babataa. My greetings for RATM. Thanks!

  • the outfits are like.. will i am meets villiage people

  • sborgo negro

  • AND THE FUNK NEVER DIES.

  • this is good aaas!!!! hahahah i like this one heaps. still love the ratm version, but its a sound quality thing

  • i use to be a breakdancer and this was the shit from the bronx with rocksteady crew i was mr twist

  • Ok. Well. People saying stuff about how teenagers don't like this. Well. I'm 13. And I love Grandmaster Flash, NOT Eminem and the Furious Five, Afrika Bambaataa NOT Wiz Khalifa, Rage Against the Machine NOT Bruno Mars, Public Enemy NOT Lil Wayne, Run DMC NOT Soulja Boy, Sugarhill Gang NOT Drake, and FunkMasterFlex, NOT Usher. I like REAL hip-hop.

  • @Ferrarimaster4 that's great to hear. i'm 17 and like that oldschool stuff too.

  • @Ferrarimaster4 i'm 39 and like old school hip hop but i do like Bruno Mars, he doesn't sound like the other pop and he doesn't use autotune either! seems like he was raised on good music, cuz he seems to have a different sound other than other pop stars

  • @Ferrarimaster4 Cool story bro

  • @Ferrarimaster4 it doesnt really matter who your listening to, its the enjoyment of music and the meanings of the lyrics and beats that should be appreciated. just because they are OG hip-hop artist doesnt mean up and coming artist should be dissed. sure there is a lot of crap out there, but its all preferential taste in what gets you excited on a dope track. The world of youtube comments really shows how many ignorant and unthoughtful beings are out there just to be haters. Music is music.....

  • @Ferrarimaster4 Congratulations. You must be a cool and superior human being.

  • @Ferrarimaster4 i also like hip hop, not that todays shit goes by the name of rap

  • @Ferrarimaster4 OMG im so impressed... its good to see that not all teenages think that way...

  • @Ferrarimaster4 u said that in the most confusing way possible

  • @Ferrarimaster4 - Usher is actually talented though.

  • @Ferrarimaster4 This track will grow on you as you get older , it may be nothing for you now but believe me when yous e people dieing from hunger when you see people robbed by corporations when you finally somewhere see a good man . You will understand then

  • @F1brawfa dude this track grew on me 25 years ago.now im 41.cheers for reminding me.lol.fucking nuts this

  • @TheOldschoolfool What ya dooing here gramps ;)

  • @F1brawfa haha,i write some crap when pissed up

  • ooooooooooooooold skooooooooooooooooooooooool

  • old school

  • afrika bambata is the king of hip hop...this is true hip hop!

  • I love both versions. I started listening to Afrika Bambaataa around the same time as RATM when I was about 13 or younger. But, I think Afrika Bambaataa is more culturally significant than RATM having based most of their career on Kraftwerk though. lol

  • Like this sound, he's very funny & he make me happy ! :)

    But i prefer the RATM's better :)

  • this version makes me laugh. :). I like RATM's better

  • One small step for the revolution, but a big step for musical evolution.

    Greetings from Spain

  • is it just or does the dude doing the mime routine look like a really young eddie griffin?

  • OMG! After listening to RATM's version & then listening to this one (the Original)...it sounds like as thou Afrika Bambaata is making a parody of RATM's version......LMFAO...!

  • a true classic,, damn those were some good times,,

  • of course people who like the cover of this song arent going to like the original... Afrika and Rage are about as far apart musically as the north and south pole are geographically

  • @guitarplayr0 Pardon me, not true. I first heard Rage's version about 4 years ago and loved it. When I later found out that it was a cover of Afrika Bambaataa's song I had to listen to it and I loved the original version just as much. Just because the music was told in a different medium (nu-metal instead of hip-hop) doesn't meant that someone can't love both versions. Open your mind and look at the similarities instead of the differences. Love both versions.

  • @DogmamgoD i enjoy both versions of the song. most people pick or choose though. planet rock is my favorite afrika bambaataa song and testify is my fav ratm song. rage didnt cover this song because they wanted to claim it as their own. they covered it because they love the music and the message, and recorded it in their medium out of respect, not disrespect.

  • @guitarplayr0 It's also a shame people don't realize RATM covered this because they love and respect the original's groove and political message.

  • wow I had no idea about this, i always thought the RATM was the first

  • This was my anti anything music. I was a kid that grew up learning precussion/drums. In high school there were so many kids that hated on me because I listened to this and all hip hop. I said why choose metal/rock that's what everyone else is listening to. So fuck all ya'll didn't have an open mind. Fuck all ya'll who hated on me and my few brave homeboys who weren't scared of you punk asses. You know you didn't want none of this or us. 1983 was the beginning of the rest of hip hop history

  • THIS is my definition of the future. Can't wait till 2015. That block party at Hill Valley is gonna be off the CHAIN!

  • Renegades of this atomic age..

  • Dont hurt me but Vice City Stories...

  • @GrisGrisOnUrDoorStep we love GTA's, so we'll don't hurt ya, man :) Vic Vance RULEZZZZ!!!! :)

  • @nattybeard This is the original version, it's a classic. Personally I like both versons.

  • @95TheDeftOne best version is got the lyrics my grandma and your grandma were sitting by the fire....

  • @xxdjcharlierockxx I don't even think my grandma knew this song, Italy was a poor place years ago :D

  • @95TheDeftOne the lyrics are from an old harry bellefonte song(not sure if his is the original) but she would recognize those particular lyrics if she listend to music...im sure... jus sayin...

  • Comment removed

  • @xxdjcharlierockxx What's the title of Harry's song?

  • @95TheDeftOne the title is iko iko but i was mistaken about the artist. i t was not harry bellefonte...i confused it with another song but the song title is iko iko. you can wiki it theres a lot of info on it. hope that helps..

  • @nattybeard

    newb

  • @nattybeard yOU moThERfUcKEr!!!

  • @nattybeard hiphopphobia and rapphobia is gay!

  • 6 people don't know, who are real renegates of funk

  • The foundation of hip-hop as we know, all new school should pay the dues and know this history.

  • Ok if you like the original song by Afrika then watch this if you like rock go listen to RATM's version of this.

  • Afrika Bam is a True True HIP HOP GOD,No need to explain he changed the world especially the Youth,HIP HOP FOREVER!

  • if you like music that makes you wanna rip your hair out, then i guess your version would be the RATM one

  • man i brush my teeth 2 this funk

  • Both versions are amazing... I do prefer rages but the beats here are so freaking badass.

  • I think RATM was wise to omit "NOW HAND CLAP!"

Or maybe they should have just left it in...

  • Wow! The original! Great lyrics. Music is cheesy. Too much 80's synth. Maybe that isn't such a bad thing.

  • @wackyruss baambaataa practically pioneered synth
