Pat started taking off his clothes ... I guess they went in the back so Koloff could get a push. Vince McMahon was shocked, he didn't get to watch. Patterson is a Fag.
@MrJohnnyrace You idiot, I know that, and I know that what he did in the 90's, I understand you have some research to do. Did you really think I was talking about Pat's heel persona? Fuck you
Amazing how wrestlers like Ivan back then are 50x the actor that John Cena is in his little vanity movies. Ivan had EVERY fan sold that he was Russian for decades.
@h4l0nubster "Ivan Koloof"??? You need to learn to spell AND put an intelligent sentence together, you moron. Go the hell back to school! You have the IQ of a doormat.
I've watched countless hours of wrestling in my life, yet I never fully absorbed until now the lesson that: you have to remove your clothes before giving someone a beating. Had I realized this sooner, maybe I would have won more fights in school. :) Though I did learn to wear clip-on ties like Pat - through eighth grade, at least. :)
@facejobby What year was it that Vince Jr. took charge? Any idea? That had to be sometime in the early 80s. Vince Sr. fired Hulk Hogan and told him "your never gonna work here again" when Hogan did that part in the Rocky movie. It had to be Vince Jr. that brought Hogan back and the rest is history with Hulkamania and all the marketing stunts that surrounded it, Wrestlemania 1 etc. Vince Sr. wasn't in the picture by then was he?
@buttercremehonda Ah those were the days. "Rodney the Piper" and Paul Orndorff were great heels. Guys like Big John Studd, King Kong Bundy, Andre the Giant & Hulk Hogan made WWF the land of Giants. Junk Yard Dog and Ricky the Dragon Steamboat, George the Animal Steele were awsome and ya loved to hate Nikoli Volkoff and the Iron Sheik. I grew up in NWA country (Charlotte NC): the 4 Horsemen, Dusty Rhodes, Magnum TA, Midnight Express, R&R Express, LOD. Good times to be a "rasslin" fan no doubt.
@buttercremehonda I don't remember New Breed? But you are oh so right, how could I forget Nikita?! Man that was a bad mother fucker! I'd put Nikita Koloff up against Stone Cold Steve Austin or Goldberg any day! I don't know if he was the origional bad ass with a shaved head and a goat-tee but nobody has been a badder bad ass with a shaved head and a goat-tee.
@BradNC11175 Nikita, formerly "Nelson", is even more impressive in person, believe me. He's also a pretty friendly guy and awesome to have a drink with. Met him at a bar in Tampa. The New Breed were the short-lived and talented tag team of Sean Royal and Chris Champion, who later went on to be Yoshi Kwan in WCW.
@buttercremehonda Isn't Nikita a preacher now? I know he is a deeply religious guy. Yeah I bet if you met him it would be hard to imagine him as "the Russian Nightmare" of old. Ah sometimes you see these guys in charicter and you have a hard time imagining them being any other way. I heard the other day when Ric Flair's plane went down (in 1979?) and word broke of that at the event they were going to people cheered. They were all heels and some folks acted like "they got what they deserved!".
@BradNC11175 Knowing the Carolina marks I'm not surprised. The plane crash happened in '75. And yeah, Nikita is a born-again Christian. But if you call him Nelson or Scott, don't be surprised if he gives you a classic icy Russian stare, just for kicks. The Sickle was the REAL Lariot, not like that clusterfuck that Stan Hansen would deliver to a bunch of stiff Japs. Nikita and JBL's are my favorites.
@buttercremehonda I always kinda liked Hansen... hell of a heel... knew how to get the folks pissed off as good as any. Crazy bastard too lol. Yeah JBL & Nikita had some devastating looking lariots. Ya thought somebody would get decapitated with those guys. Nikita and the LOD were the most intimidating guys the NWA had back in the 1980s. When the Koloffs were formed ya had tag team magic between them and the LOD. I have always been a freaking huge LOD fan.
@stevedrums French Canadian lol? Damned! I saw some recent interview with "Unkle" Ivan on here not long ago and he seems liked a really nice guy. Sometimes it's hard to believe it when you see these guys out of charicter like that. Like Stonecold, he seems like a real nice guy and well spoken, as laid back as could be too. But some guys are who they are and what you see is what you get, Ric Flair is like that. You see him on the streets and he is dressed to the nines just like on TV.
@BradNC11175 Ivan Koloff's real name is Oreal Perras, born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He initially played an Irish heel B4 becoming "Russian" 4 the rest of his career. Pat Patterson was also born in Montreal, a year apart.
@Tarantulisimo I guess Patterson's career was kinda before my time. For me I'll always associate him as one of McMahon's Stooges during Vince & Shane's many fueds with the Rock, Stonecold and etc. But I'll never forget Ivan Koloff in the NWA back in the early- mid 80s and especially the Russian's feud with the Road Warriors and Dusty Rhodes/ Magnum TA and Ric Flair. How could ya not hate the Russian heel in pro wrestling during the Cold War years? Ivan was the best of that bunch I believe.
lol Look at 2:04. He's chasing Ivan, and Ivan is running away like a little girl, IVAN stops & does NOTHING. And DAMN that slap didn't do shit, Paterson got right up and proclaimed his PWNAGE of the Russian sissy. LOL
Patterson was a great heel himself, but overall a great wrestler. I remember him in the AWA when he teamed with Ray "The Crippler" Stevens. They were very nasty, but winners.
Wow, I didn't even remember a Patterson-Koloff feud in the WWF. I know they held the Florida tag title together and then feuded. Thanks for posting this!
@yardlet6 And if it hadn't been for a knee injury, he would have been a 2-time WWF champion...that is if the rumors of him being the original choice as the transitional champion between Backlund and Hogan are/were true.
"They just know me as the Greek...........and of course I'm not even Greek"
funnies thing about the clip , other than PP getting earth wind and fire slapped out of him..is that..................PP isn't even American...he's Canadian.
