  • what was you descent rate???

  • I've always wondered wat airline is this

  • @Soccer18188 American, 767-300 going into Paris from Boston.

  • I love this vid!! next time i want it longer and dash mounted cam so just clouds

  • hii what airliner do you fly? and for which airline :) i wanna be a airline pilot some day :D

  • Love how the pilot is wearing a cap. Great vid.

  • how can you dislike this vid? it's awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • O i am glad thats enjoyable for the pilots to watch cause I always dread going anywhere near the clouds when Im on a plane!! Not the best flyer! :(

  • The world was meant to be seen from above 10,000 ft.

  • I'm waiting to go to a class date for a regional, and am really looking forward to having views like this at my new "work".

  • No lightsabers in the cockpit

  • This is so beautiful, is the best job in the whole world.

  • Reminds me of my IFR in a 182 that was just BELOW clouds about half the way; about a half hour. It was smooth on the bottoms. Like a knife had smoothed the clouds. I did a pirep and told the controller "my exhaust pipe is out of it, but my wing is in it". I asked for higher as it was making my wife ill.

  • that's when you realize... "omg i'm going pretty fast.".. nice sensation

  • Where did you guys go to school at? Where do most people in the industry come from?

  • I LOVE PILOTS ! :-)

    Kirk..Montreal, Canada

  • First time i've ever seen a pilot with a baseball cap :P

  • I thought you had to have 20/20 vision to become a pilot. That guy was wearing glasses. Can someone please explain?

  • @MaxPayne19146 Perhaps in the fighter pilot world. But flying for an airline (at least in the U.S.) only requires vision correctable to 20/20.

  • @fly4fun Well, in Canada, it has to be correctable to 20/30

  • @fly4fun what do you do when the sun directly hits the cockpit? aren't you guys distracted by the glare?

  • @MaxPayne19146 you have to have 20/20 vision with or without glasses

  • @MaxPayne19146 Wouldn't glasses GIVE you 20/20 vision?

  • @MaxPayne19146 In the RAAF's case you need to have atleast 6/12 (or 20/40) vision uncorrected to be accepted as a pilot, the rest can be corrected with glasses. In all other fields if its corrected to 6/6 its fine.

  • @MaxPayne19146 You act like someone that wears glasses is less intelligent or capable than someone with good vision naturally.. Care to elaborate?

  • If it ain't Boeing, we ain't going!!

  • @captainmorgan757 This made me laugh! :D Now as much as I love Boeing, it doesn't matter which aircraft it is, as long as it gets me to my destination safely, i'm always happy!

  • Better turn on the cloud deflector shields !!!...lol

  • Awesomeness

  • And they pay you to do that?? O.o

  • are you allowed to film underneath 10.000 feet with a static camera?

  • Amazing

  • @royalg13 In my opinion yes ! That is heaven!

    If it don't say Boeing I ain't going !!

    Blue skies to all !

  • i love it

  • Oh the joys of flying........

  • isnt there any turbulence because of the closeness to clouds? otherwise fabulous sight!

  • Thats 1 reason why i want to become a pilot!

  • 0:19 ur just like, shiiit this as easy as riding a bus llol!

  • That is so beautiful. I wish i was on that flight :D. Nice footage though.

  • my friends dad just moved on from a flying NWA 757's to Delta/NWA 767's

  • So thats heaven?

  • why u have soo good videos ? ^^

  • A huge layer of cotton candy!

    :)

  • Whaaah, looks cool and must feeling fun like sliding with an aircraft at snow!

  • I love doing this in a Cessna.

  • i love cloud skimming. it is beautiful, and lets you see really just how fast you are going

  • I do Tandem skydives. Every once in a while the altitude for the canopy has clouds just below....

So it looks like a your going to slam into 1000 acres of cotton balls...but then the chute opens and you stop right above....toe kicking distance.lol.

    I love the clouds...

  • Fly4fun isn't this at the period you were doing the same flight over and over again at St thomas so you didn't bring your camera and you used the flip-video?

  • he said 767 at the start duh

  • 777?

  • love the video!! are you the pilot? I subbed

  • Thank you. Relief pilot on that flight. (Flights over 8 hours require a third pilot).

  • your welcome, cool, what type of plane was it? Keep it up!

  • Comment removed

  • .......did I insult you or something? I didn't see that at first. Geeze it was only a question.

  • Flightkid9, sorry for my last post. I was just upset about something and I took it out on you. That was wrong and I am sorry

  • it's ok

  • What altitude are you here?

  • It was a while ago, but I seem to remember we were descending through the 20 something. I only film above 10,000 feet, so I know we were higher than that.

  • Great stuff, thanks!

  • @fly4fun Why do you only film above 10,00 ft?

  • @AirlinePilotZJ Google "FAA looks at videos taken in cockpits" to read an article that certainly got my attention.

  • Subscribed, love your Vids!

  • I love snowmobiling in the tops of the clouds like that. It's rare to get at just the right altitude but when on top like that it's a lot of fun.

  • wow the clouds kinda put the speed of the plane into perspective!

  • Occasionally there my be some turbulence associated with the clouds. We'd then request a different altitude. But if it's smooth we'd just enjoy the view.

  • This is a cool video, never seen one like this before.

  • Why´s the captain whearing a ridiculous cap. sunlight maybe.

  • i looks great but to FO tries to cover the window though

  • i think it would make more sense that he was taking it off

  • why the captain are wearing a ridiculous cap?

  • So cool... Riding the clouds.

  • Fantastic video, thanks, what aircraft are you flying?

  • boeing 767

  • boeing 767

  • Isn't that just grand? I had a helicopter pilot take me and my dad up to 12,500 feet to watch the sunset above the clouds, and on the way back, we got to cloud skim. It is just awesome...

  • It's always sunny above the clouds.

    ^Great line

  • Not at night its not ..!!

  • How Beautiful!! I would Love to Cloud Skim!

  • how many feets was that

  • Yeah they do cornskid, but an airliner like I said is designed for this. This is what they call IFR flying. INSTRUMENT Flight Rules.

  • I used to be ifr rated (lost my medical 25 years ago) still you never choose poor visibility when there's an option, it's an ifr flight rule.

  • airliners are different though, they are going to do an ILS wherever they are going anyway

  • Nearly all of them do

  • cool

  • I wouldn't think it's dangerous. Maybe for a Cessna 172 but not for an airliner. Their designed to handle the weather as well as harmless clouds.

  • it's a little dangerous, clouds restrict visibility

  • does that matter on 30,000 feet.

even when there are a lot of aircrafts in the sky the pilots can see them on their TCAS.

  • matters a little to a lot, visibility is allways importent

  • ATC knows where everyone is at the altitude, its required by regulations

  • Not all clouds are harmless, i have flown threw the tiniest of clouds and there bumpy as hell.

  • isnt it bad for the engines to intake the moisture?

  • I dont think there is enough moisture in the clouds to actually do any harm to the engines. Think about all the flights that have gone out and came in during thunderstorms. Its dangerous but it can be done.

  • that makes sense

  • arent you the cutest thing ! the clouds wont hurt the airplane !!!!!!!

  • LMAO....that's funny

  • haha

  • no not at all

  • Ready mark...ya.........fast guys do kewl shit..

  • now this is cool!!!!

  • that is sooooooooooo cool

  • 757!! i never realized how fast jets really are 0_0

  • ja...its amazing

  • lol, i just saw the bottom where it says 767, my bad rofl

  • where were you guy's flying too ???

my dad was a pilot for Eastern Airlines ...

    He flew md-11's

  • That was awesome!

  • I'm taking a guess but it looks like a Fokker 100? Nice Clip : )

  • i would say b767

  • It's a B767

  • no way bra, definitely a 172

  • NO! its a b 747! jk

  • Otter deffinatly.

  • nope its a flying cow.....people ride on the back of it!

  • This is the coolest thing I have ever seen.

  • soooooo beautiful and magnificent

  • Beautiful. I saw something similar on a Delta MD88 flight to BOS. We were cruising a few thousand feet above cloud cover, but it felt like we were flying 50 feet above a some frozen landscape, as if the clouds were snow.

  • what do pilots do when they're not taking off or landing? (this is not a smartass question, i'm really wondering)

  • make sure the A/P doesnt mess something up. other than that just monitor systems and wait for the approach call

  • Awesome video..you guys are great. Subscribing...

  • Why do they have an ad for cumulus clouds on here? lol.

  • oh damn that was gorgeous...

  • I'd like to skim the clouds like that with a UAV and a video linkup. Screw the commercial industry.

  • my dreamjob!

  • Cool vid! btw i f**king hate how youtube puts adds on vids now. ugh... anything to make a buck.

  • You'de do it too if you were the one making the hundreds of thousands of dollars by doing nothing.

  • I could understand where most get the idea that pilots do nothing. But... the people that say that (and no offense) are the ones that aren't very educated on what a pilot does, or has to do to become one, and so forth, and so on.

  • I agree rdiddie, but you need to read the comment itsanthonyhere was commenting on himself. It had NOTHING to do with the job of a pilot, but rather how Carterboyy hates the adds that YouTube has put on some of their videos. Jus sayinng to read before assuming its what someone is ranting about =)

  • Ive noticed reading, and then actually comprehending someone's comment, and the circumstances it was made under. Seems to be FAR beyond 99.99% of youtuber's mental capabilities.

  • Great video, I was working at ATA as a mechanic about 10 years ago and was deadheading on a 57 from Charleston SC to Midway in Chicago and we were cleared to 10,000 at virtually the same time of day. We were right at the cloud tops doing 300 kts for a good 3 or 4 minutes. Thanks for evoking the memory.

  • Wow thats a very nice view. Its cool how the pilots level it exactly with the clouds.

    very nice video.

  • GOOD VIDEO! IS A 757 CABIN?

  • o i didnt even notice it

  • wow what kind of plane is that looks like a boeing

  • a perfect job...

  • simply beautiful! I cant wait to get my wings!

  • cool job

  • Wow thats beautiful! You don't see that everyday. By the way, what's a good way to learn how to read and use IFR charts, such as SID and ILS? It's a bit of a learning curve, ;)

  • Download old ones, or buy jeppview for example. Depends on your learning style. I'm at my best figuring things out myself. Is it for Flight Sim? I try and find as much official material as I can to study for myself. Learned a lot in the past 4 weeks, barely "cheat" with gps in flight sim anymore. Didn't find navigation that hard, currently studying CAA's radio comm manual to improve my atc comms. KLM won't take me for sponsorship though, highschool was a bad time so I don't have correct diploma

  • Awesome!

  • Thats power!

  • fantastic!!!!!!!!!

  • Very cool video. I'd love too do that, seems really fun. I remember flying once when i was travelling home from Canada and the pilot decided too show us a few things as in two layers of cloud, we flew in between them and i must it was amazingly cool.

Hope for more videos in the future. I'm saving this one and i'll add you as a friend.

  • I love when that happens...shame my Cessna wont climb that high

  • I just take videos from time to time while at work. I also write about each trip at Cockpit Chronicles. Do a google search for that to come along with me!

  • He is a pilot!

  • you r so one of my heros lol wanna be a pilot that shit glides fast man

  • I don't think he was cloud skimming. I think he had to go through the clouds to land.

  • Thanks for letting him know. Yeah, you're right. We were on descent, IFR, of course.

  • Awesome!

  • i wanah be a pilot!!!

  • I think thats American.

  • Before TCAS, it was probably a bit risky, especially over New York or Chicago. Never knew when the fin of another shark may jump out of the water...LOL

  • I guess you've never heard of required IFR separation? The required VFR cloud separation requirements alone would keep the non participating aircraft away from skimming. TCAS is a realatively new tool. ATC has been around much longer

  • Not really..What is the IFR separation and/or VFR cloud separation? Know a bit about aviation but not this part. thanks

  • If operating on an IFR clearance, in controlled airspace, and under ATC control... ATC provides aircraft separation, whether or not you're in the clouds.

For the complete regulations concerning basic VFR minimums, look-up FAR 91.155. So you don't go home empty handed, here's a sample. Aren't I a nice guy?

  • Class E: Below 10,000' MSL (Mean Sea Level(not as in cruel)), 3 statute miles of visibility, 500' below clouds, or 1,000' above, or 2,000' horizontal.

Class E: Above 10,000' MSL, 5 statute miles of visibility, 1,000' below clouds, or 1,000' above, or 1 mile horizontal.

  • Amazing

  • brillant are you an american airlines pilot ?

  • Yes ! Thank you for this clip - In a smaller plane and slower speed, you can 'fly the white sand' of cloud cover. When conditions are perfect, the boundary between the cloud and clear air is so solid, it looks like you are flying a dune buggy on perfect white sand.....a must see.

  • wow, nice clip

  • thats awsome, looks really cool.
