Good luck. The visa process is a long road, as you know. Took us 18 months to get the green card, after marriage, altho it is not supposed to take that long, and often doesn't. An advanced warning: stay on top of it. We just realized last month that her Permanent Resident status is 'Conditional', and has to be reconfirmed after two years (for another large fee...) If we hadn't realized this in time, she would have lost her green card automatically. We apply in June. Sooo tired of this...

Me and my wife had to go through the whole process... It's a long ass process. We didn't use any lawyers or anything. You have to read a butt load of paper work.

Ok so yay on the visa! I feel so icky for you having yet to get through the permanent resident crap! It sucks, but you'll get there! We went through it all and started a life here but now want to go back to London. So balls. We'll get to do it all over again. If you have any not-too-personal reasons for deciding to live here can you share? I'm so confused about what I want so any input is awesome :) It is still so bizarre for me to watch your vids about this since my situation was so similar!

Melody, I was thinking of something that might help you guys. When you have a chance, why don't you go on Craigslist and search your local housing section for a Studio Cottage. Some of those places are hella cheap. The rent is generally quite a bit less then an apartment. If you can find one that will let two people be on the lease, it might be a good place to live until you can both work. Plus a cottage would give you quite a bit of privacy. Which I would think would be a good thing.
