  • That's a TERRIBLE horn!!!

  • also there was the Buick that came to a stop....

  • I could be wrong but I notice that BNSF always has SD60M locomotives on coal trains. Is there a reason for that?

  • I am not very good with identifying diesel locomotives. What type of locomotives are these?

  • damn fine power

  • I've seen enough coal trains up here, and not too many coal cars have that logo anymore, they seem to have the swoosh logo or perhaps old BN ones

  • My grandfather is a BNSF train driver and he drives that very kind of train way cool. I always think of him when I see stuff like that.

  • dude the good ole route 10- crossings! i love them soooo much! dude im going to be railfanning that one like crazy!

  • umm dude THE GREAT PUMPKIN!!

  • I have that engine in HO scale, its the only one that I have seen, it is awesome! There have been modifications to it from BNSF, they originally painted the walkways ATSF red, but everyone hated it and they repainted the walkways, Dark Green, they also renumbered it to 8197, they re-numbered all of the SD60M's to start with 8.

  • nice video!

  • whats with the lights on the one side

  • The dotted LEDs in those rear lights are working, but barely visible.

It's due to the angle they are at in relation to the camera.

Incandescent & ball-type LEDs don't have that problem.

  • Actual number of freight cars is 114.

There are three locomotives, each of them have 6 axles.

Then starting to count the freight cars, each of them have 4 axles.

And by listening to the defector, you can hear the total axle number: 474.

    So, 6 axles * 3 = 18 axles for the locomotives.

474 - 18 leaves 456 axles for the freight cars.

    456 / 4 = 114.

Feel free to correct me if I made a mistake.

  • 118

  • i counted 116 cars

  • i counted 116 cars

  • The lead unit is now bnsf 8177

  • thats alot of cars i counted atleat 113 of them

  • Nice Video.

  • Lol There are so many different terms for the same things when talking about railroads. Eg in Australia, we call them railways, freight cars we either call Trucks, Hoppers, or vans. The wheelsets under the wagons are called "bogies" (i think they're called trucks in the US of A) and also i counted a grand total of 114 Coal Wagons

  • i counted 100+ cars

  • sweet Video

  • Pukeo, the vomit bonnet!

  • hehe long train

  • love your video i have your video on my playlist :)

  • Nice video!

For those that think this is MSTS. This is a real life video. It is too clear and realistic to be MSTS or any other rail simulator.

There were 3 locomotives and 114 cars (wagons).

Typical number of cars on coal trains number around 120~130. So this train was just about typical sized.

The "silver" cars are made of aluminum (aluminium) to keep car tare weight down and thus allow increase in coal load carried to make up to maximum gross car load of 286,000 lbs.

  • WOW!!! that train was hauling ass. great video man keep up da good work:)

  • IT'S THE GREAT PUMPKIN. The second engine is the one of a kind great pumpkin.

  • ya i have to agree soo4812 AWESOME !

  • AWESOME! U caught 2 of BNSFs coolist SD60Ms together on a coal train before they were renumbered! if only the SD75M was in heritage 2 paint!

  • ur lucky u caught that one SD60M with two paint jobs thats sweet

  • it was sooo long train!

  • Nice catch, buddy!

  • if only the first SD60M was green.

  • this train is long

  • OMG!!!! That train looked sooooo good and new, if you will, I thought it was a model railroad at first until the car dorve up to the crossing! :P

  • Nice car, turn that into a slab...

  • what was that guy talkin about on the radio at the end??

and 114 wagons! That is a lot of haulage... impressive for 3 locos i have to say... you do not see that kind of work going on in the UK...

  • that's the hot box detector otherwise known as the Train Defect Detector (TDD). It transmits over the radio to the train letting them know if the train is okay. Like hot wheel bearings or dragging equipment, shifted loads, and such.

  • But that depends on the detector not all do those functions. it just depends on the detector

  • Was that a heritage I SD60M on the point?

  • Dude, look at the description

  • COOL VID

  • man....that experimental...dont see themtoo often

  • 2:03 flat spot on a wheel. hehe

Now that is a long train, HOT RAIL!

  • Hot Rail? - If you are referring to the rail becoming physically hot after a train passing you are incorrect. The rail may actually be slightly cooler after a train passes due to the rail being shadowed by the cars (unless the wheels are hot from prior braking).

  • True, the rails don't get hot.

  • COOL! a BNSF HI, Experimental and an ex-SF. What a great find!!!

  • Nice video. Too bad you're catching a lot of wind in the microphone. Try turning out of the wind or use a windcap.

  • IS this MSTS ?

  • Was that a joke?

  • are you serious

  • Its not msts because It does not look as vurtual.

  • Awesome!!!!!!

  • excellent

  • the second loco with the paintsceme, AWSOME:)

  • one question

Does BNSF carry trash by any chance, or is that just csx that carries trash? Just a random question

  • Yea they got a deal w/ the city of seattle to carry trash outta the city. I was on the amtrak cascades and got stopped by a trash train once. it smelled. A lot

  • Not exactly trash, but I've seen scrap iron trains in Springfield, MO.

  • oh man, same here!!! it smelled sooooooo bad. happened summer of 2006.

  • 3 unit

    104 cars traveling.......fast

  • Yep, and with 'one bell gone silent' :)

  • nice vidéo =)

  • i have kno idea why but i live in michigan just north of toledo and i saw a bnsf engine

  • Living in Albuquerque I definately love seeing those red and white Santa Fe engines they're the best.

  • wow 115 cars and 3 Locomotives

  • READ THIS, PLEASE. It's the worst thing of all comments. You will die in well before your birthday and if your poor you will die in 5 DAYS!!! D= Unless you poste this on 60 videos. Your parents will be sad, sad, sad. So you better hurry!!! D=

  • have you ever seen an SD90MAC before. I saw one for Union Pacific. Is it rare? The other train watcher that was with me siad that is was. One coal train i saw was 131 cars long. I live in baltimore and sometimes see bnsf locos. NICE VIDEO. I gave it 5 stars.

  • See my video with 4 Union Pacific SD90MACs!

  • See my video with 4 Union Pacific SD90MACs!

  • THE LEFT ONE WENT DOWN FIRST.they gotta go at the same time

  • actually, they go at firs time but the motor on the left must me a litle quick than that on the right

  • Just commenting on some of these things. Usually 115 car train into Cohasset, mainly because thats all the loop can hold. DP is run on many coal trains, although those go through Dilworth/Mandan. Cohasset is not set up for dumping like that.

  • You should see how the UPs take off after they cross the river at Clinton, Iowa (not saying that they slow down anyway) getting upwards of 70 MPH on the flat straight track of Northern Illinois...

  • Sorry to the last person that left a comment on this video. I mean to hit "reply" when in fact I hit remove. Please re-post y our comment. In my reply I was going to ask where you run.

  • Great video, was a bit surprised that there was no "shoving" loco on the end.

  • Very rare in this area to have a DPU unit on a train. A close friend of mine has seen DPU in action a number of times though I never have.

  • I like the loco and the silver coal cars.

  • Strange to see a BNSF coal train without at least one AC unit.

  • 114 cars is not that short, at most it's 6 or 7 cars off. It's about average for this sub to this particular plant.

  • Nice to see the "Pumkin". Last year the 9297 was making frequent appearances through Billings, MT.

  • wow thats a long train for Bemidji...though it is coal

  • Normal length.
