The call isn't for jumping, they made the backflip escape from a single illegal cuz if a kid holds on to your leg your knee can get torn up, a few kids landed on their heads or tore acls/mcls and the like, so they decided not to allow it in high school wrestling anymore, it's still perfectly legal in college tho

In high school wrestling, the wrestlers are not allowed to jump upwards. It is a fairly new rule. I think they did it to prevent serious injuries. But the back flip sure looks cool.
