"It gives you an appreciation of life"- If that's what it takes to appreciate life, then I never wanna know what it feels like. I practically piss my pants every time I go on an airplane.
I hate to sound cynical but for some of these survivors it has been a very profitable experience. Today they spend their time on the lecture circuit and tv telling eveyone how guilty they felt knowing that they lost so many of their passengers - all for a nice big speaking fee of course. I'll pick the check up on the way out thanks !!
@TheAmazingCreative Why don't I put you in a metal cell and throw you around a a few hundred miles an hour, you can brace and keep your head down, you'll be fine!!
I am not denying these survivors' feelings, but I really don't understand how one can feel "guilty" after surving such horrible circumstances. You would think one would feel blessed and extremely lucky and in God's hands, but "guilty"?? I just don't understand.
@ThomasAUSTRALIA1 "Survivor's Guilt" is a very common and well documented experience from air crash survivors, for the reasons outlined in the video. This can be even more so the case for the aircrew, as they often feel at least in part responsible for the crash, whether justified or not. There have in fact been cases where aircraft have crashed in freezing temperatures and the pilot has given away his clothes to his surviving passengers, only to die of hypothermia while the others survive.
@ThomasAUSTRALIA1 You don't understand how someone could feel guilty because several hundred people around them and involved in the same accident as them, died, while they survived? You can't understand why someone would question why everyone didn't make it out okay? Why those who perished weren't lucky enough to survive? Wow. Talk about one-dimensional thinking.
@Neno8403 ..No, I still don't understand, and unfortunately you have not made it any clearer with your rhetorical questions. I would expect one to feel "guilty" if one contributed to the demise of another person, but how can you feel "guilty" if the tragedy is beyond your control? If I survived a plane crash I would thank God every day and feel extremely lucky to have survived. I would feel sadness and great pity for those who died, but why should I feel any "guilt". I didn't cause their deaths.
you need hydrolics to move the crucial parts of the a/c. for the rudder, ailerons, flaps, finally for the landing gear, basically, without hydrolics you just glide, you cannot operate the a/c with no hydrolic power.. as far as I know, very laic explanation. you can do stuff, but that is very hard and depends on the experience and skills of the pilots
