Well, since talking about anything other than stock vehicles is pointless, stock D90 or Jeep, probably not, H1, well, it won't fit -in- the hole so you can rule it out on that, but if you let it ride one side in, it has the weight to push through. My Suburban with 1 size larger than stock tire(2 if I count load range D), high probabilty of success, at over 3 tons, traction is RARELY a problem. My CJ with my friend's ice racing bolts...lawl...2wd easy.

I'm not sure why I'm even commenting because since I'm not saying "zomg land rovers rock lololol" I'm going to get negative votes. Land Rovers here, in the US, are expensive. Finding one for ~$6250 (roughly) USD like you've said in decent condition rarely happens. Plus, maintenance on them is more pricey than a Jeep or 'Yota. Land Rovers aren't bad machines at all, I'm not saying that. But when comparing them to a Jeep (which I wheel, here come the flames) or 'Yota doesn't make sense money wise.

Oh, and to the comment about "wicked expensive suspension"... what? My lift was right around $600USD for quality springs and shocks. That's not bad. Stock Rovers have a decent suspension at best, but it's still stock. And slightly modified 4x4 could outwheel a Rover. They just don't have enough flex or ground clearance. Toyotas have much more ground clearance in their stock form, and Jeeps and Rovers are close, but I'd still side with a Jeep just because of the price difference.

yeah apparently if you replace the cables going to the ABS sensors in the wheels it rectifies the problem (because the old series two's used two short cables with a link between them, and the newer ones use one long one) it seems to work, but now we've just blown a starter solenoid ahah.

Never take it to the dealor they are hacks. Find the little guy and then be weiry. I, not knowing much about cars, have done most of the work needed on my 02 disco 2. I changed the drive shaft easy. And changed the breaks shoes. The tree amigos i had to. Once for mass air flow sensor. And once for traction control sensor. The dealor told me I needed a new hub. If you just clean the hole where the sensor skrews into the hub it works fine. No more Amigs but I have a O2 sensor out so check engine.

well, dont you have to do that with all vehicles? jeeps with 5+ inch lifts? new rear axles, engines, then they're incredible offroad machines? what about trucks? lift em and put new tires on them too. the thing about land rovers that sets them out from the pack is their technology. the electronics is so advanced, where as others may just rely on suspension or axles or transmissions, drivers can just sit back and worry less.

Why do people think freelanders are crap? We went round the off-road course at the LRO show at driffeild in it and overtook a disco that got stuck in deep mud. The weakest part of the drivetrain is the rear diff but as it is mainly front wheel drive you could get it home. The most common parts that wear out are the IRD and the Viscous Coupling. Thats what people think break on them. You have no idea how strong these things are, do you?
