  • "What happened then? Well that's the play, and he wouldn't want us to give it away!"

  • When the chorus first sang it gave me goosebumps!

  • To me, George Hearn is my Sweeney Todd...

  • @spotoftrouble Aye, and NPH is my Tobby~

  • Thank you so much for uploading this. I used to watch it day and night when I was really little, literally replaying it over and over, but it wasn't our copy so I haven't been able to watch it in years. :) My childhood has returned to me!

  • What does it say on that drape at the start?

  • @Espeonpwnsuall Never mind.

  • @Espeonpwnsuall It just says sweeney tood over and over again

  • Most important moment of this video.

    NPH.

    <3

  • I wonder if it is possible that you can put the rest of the concert up? My University is about to have auditions for this show, and your videos are the best quality that I have heard in a long time

  • @Mr333Revan I will upload the rest of them in a couple of days.I have the first 20 min uploaded already in my profile :) If you wish you can come and see it :)

  • I don't like the costumes, too fancy for my taste

  • I don't know. i like Lupone, but just never enough. I prefer, Bernadette Peters in Gypsy (and Bette Midler for that matter) I prefer Angela Landsbury in this, and I prefer Glen Close in sunset Blvd. Taking nothing away from Patti... I just feel flat from her performances

  • I love this concert! Gah! I think the basses and/or tenors were lacking a bit in this opening and I think the chorus could have used a bit scarier makeup or something, and their facial expressions are slacking a bit, I like how in 1982 their faces, especially in City On Fire were a bit over-the-top in a good way and scary, but great concert still! =D

  • Amazeing performens

  • I swear no matter what version of this song i hear i all ways get chills

  • Ow... Looks like george has an extra chin in the past years XD

  • @TheSuperheldo He's pushing 70. He can still knock it out of the proverbial park as Sweeney!!!

  • @jws1272 Now h'e pushing 70. He was atleast 60 then

  • @shanmer391 Still love George as Sweeney!!! Lonny Price picked him personally when Bryn Terfel couldn't make it because of a back injury. Of all the actors I've heard sing the role, George brings the most sheer FURY to the role!!

  • 2:44 EPIC CHOIR!

I love this musical. I would love to see it live.

  • @iAMaKIDhearMEroar NEIL LEGEND... HARRIS

  • @Bomberzone1745

Do you have a picture of one? I'd love to see an organ that big! ....Erm...Did I say what I thought I just said? Lol, you know what I mean. Just send me an URL or post a little slideshow clip.

  • I LOVE Davis Gaines, but he is WAY too old to playing Anthony!

  • 2:35! Man that is a deep bass...

  • Never seen an organ with 4 manuals before...weird.

  • NPH!!!! NEIL! PATRICK! HARRIS!!! OH MY GOD!!! So, I was watching this because I love Sweeney, and I needed a different perspective, and I heard NPH. Recognized by his voice. LOVE IT!!!

  • am i the only one who thinks neil patrick harris is the only reason to watch this?

  • @WeSparkAndFade No, but there are many reasons to watch this. Patti LuPone is a Broadway legend (like Angela Lansbury who originated Mrs. Lovett) and George Hearn (I believe) orginated the role of Sweeney Todd. There are so many great actors in this production, including Harris.

  • @MUSpecialK Len Cariou originated the role of Sweeney Todd on Broadway. George Hearn was the first replacement and was touring the show with Lansbury when it was filmed in 1982.

  • This is one of my all time favorite versions of Sweeney. I want to own this so bad!!!

  • There is just something about this score with a full orchestra....*sigh*

  • I love George Hearn! He is soooo amazing! I love his voice! He rocks! :D Thanks for posting!

  • Amazing! Please post Green Finch and Linnet Bird, Ah Miss, and Kiss Me. PLEASE. <3

  • At 2:43 my heart skipped a beat, It's like.... well, words cannot do it justice.

That part always gives me chills, but this version just AMAZED me.

  • You know, if you think about it, the real monster in this play is not Todd, but Mrs. Lovett.... she uses Sweeney for her own satisfaction... really creepy character

  • where can I download this verson of sweeney todd? either the concert itself of just the soundtrack is fine, but i've been looking for years and i cannot find it anywhere

  • @americanpikachu You can find the dvd on ebay.

  • whoah! Neil pattrick harris! hes too good.

  • he still looks as scary like he was in the play! love it! :D

  • The best Sweeny Todd that I've seen.

  • CAN YOU PLEASE POST THE ENTIRE CONCERT

  • wheres the other parts? did youtube take them down?

  • Anyone else reckon George is even better in this version than back in the 80's one, or is that just me?

  • @BernardtheBeanpole He should've matured his character :)

  • graaaah! why cant this come to Florida!?

  • Neil Patrick Harris is win. and I LOVE George Hearn.

  • George Hearn still rocks sweeney like nobody elso, even though he isn't as young as he was the first time around!

  • This gives me chills... every time...

  • Thank you so so so much for posting this!

  • do you know where i could buy the whole dvd from?

  • In musical theatre we are always told "don't start big, you'll have nowhere to go." That's what's so amazing about George Hearn. He can always start HUGE and he always seems to have MORE.

  • Sweeney Todd is so freaking amazing. Plus George Hearn is God.

    That is all.

  • George Hearn is the best Sweeney Todd! I love Sweeney Todd! I even named my Hampster Sweeney Todd! lol :)

  • @broadwaybaby24k I hope you keep that hamster caged! lol ;-)

  • @broadwaybaby24k do not give you hamster a razor.

  • @broadwaybaby24k you should get another hamster and name it lucy... and another and name it mrs lovett... actually, just keep getting hamsters and name them after the characters :D

  • @broadwaybaby24k I know, but i never knew him until i heard his name in Wicked

  • I love how evil the judge looks at 2:35.

Also at 4:00, when he's like

"He served a dark and a vengeful god"- pure awesomeness. it's so dark and evil, yet such a genius musical. By far the best one.

  • @VIOLASftw Davis Gaines (the judge) has experience looking evil and creepy, he played the Phantom in Phantom of the Opera in L.A. for a while

  • @dht23 Well, if Davis Gaines was the judge in this video, I'd be inclined to agree. But he's Anthony, not the judge.

  • @mastachen lol. read descritption wrong. thanks for correction! i thought he looked different.

  • Oh man. 2:44 gives me chills everytime!

  • love this part!

  • Thank you for putting this up, I've been looking everywhere for it!
