  • do you feal the beauty of this song

  • Ma quant'è bella questa canzone!

  • finlaly found the song. i haven't watch the highlander movie but just finished watching all the seasons in the youtube !! ,xD. and yes this is the fitting song for depatuer of Duncan from this era. didnt like the abrupt ending of the series but thats how the show business is i guess. if you like to watch all the sesons or any particular episode, search as "highlander episodes" and then click the one with the user id "NewVideoDigital".

  • OH HOW I LOVE THIS SONG...BUT ONLY WHEN SHE SINGS IT

  • This song is adequate dedication to Duncan McLeod.

The persons who saw all the episodes of the serie know, that Duncan is a very good person and an idol for every human being in this world.

There can only be one......and the one is Duncan.

  • @martinithalmann no Conor Mcleod is the one and the only one he is the first main man and the other films just didnt come close

  • @Henolegangsta

First it's spelled "Connor" and second, a person who only saw the movies should be quiet!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • if this song does`nt move yer soul then you don`t have one scotland for ever

  • Rest in Peace - Steve Jobs

  • @ga41Five

Was hat dieses Lied mit Steve Jobs zu tun?

  • does anyone know of any songs similiar to this one ?

  • @samrep1 Try "Ysolt Y'nn Gweinten" or "Crucan Na bPiste". or even "The last rose of summer" by Clanad.

  • Anyone who dislikes this song needs professional help.

  • great voice and song.

ppl who dislike this song should be put to sleep!!!

  • ceva de pretuit

  • My name is ******* McRae and i am proud to say i am Scottish/Celtic and that i am learning the bagpipes GO Celts!!

  • I am Connor MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod. I was born in 1518 in the village of Glenfinnan on the shores of Loch Shiel. And I am immortal.

  • @appleseedmachina

I love the original Highlander movie and the series, but two little comments I would make. 1) Bonny Portmore is an Irish song lamenting the demise of Ireland's old Oak Forests, and 2) The MacLeod's land was in the Western Isles, nowhere near Glenfinnan... Ironically, Eilaen Donnan Castle, which was used as the setting for Glenfinnan in the film, is much nearer to the Western Isles than Glenfinnan.

Still a great song and a great fim / TV series though.

  • How can 8 people dislike this beautiful song? Strange world.

  • 8 immortals were beheaded by Jacob Kell!

  • I first heard a version of this in the last episode of Highlander: The Series, and fell in love with the song. Then I heard this version in Highlander 3, and fell in love with this version. Such a beautiful song.

  • What I wouldn't give to find an Irish bird who can sing, likes a beer and is half decent on the eye.

  • God !! what a beautiful song..

  • Celtic forever !!!!

  • It's the most beautiful song I've ever heard.

  • @thetrueprometheus Honestly it is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Sometimes I think it is the best song ever but then I think Mummers Dance is, then I think Lady of Shallott is, then I think The Old Ways is ......

  • @TristanandIsolt I'm seeing a pattern and the pattern is Loreena McKennitt. And I agree.

  • @OgreProgrammer So you noticed the pattern. I thought I was being real subtle and nobody would notice :-)

  • @TristanandIsolt I too am in awe of this Lady McKennitt.

  • For anyone who is wondering. This is what angels sound like. <3

  • Great tune Lads brings a scottish man to tears. As tough as we may be. God I miss the highlands. Bring me home Loreena.

  • Great tune Lads brings an Irish man to tears. As tough as we may be. God I miss the highlands. Bring me home Loreena

  • Songs like this really make me proud of my Scottish and Irish heritage, and damn glad I have that Celtic blood flowing through my veins.

  • i am a celt and this is just to put it simply AMAZING!!!!! her voice and all is simply beautiful and before somebody says something celt is NOT JUST IRELAND its both the EMERALD ISLE and BONNY SCOTLAND...

  • @Pbrock67 Actually the Celtic lineage can be traced to several countries of the European mainland as well as the Celts originate from an area between the Alps and the Schwarz Walt in Germany. Ireland and Scotland are the only countries (sadly) where the Celtic influence has maintained a strong presence.

  • @Pbrock67 im from liverpool but my ancestors are from scotland i proudly tell anyone who will listen i have celtic blood in me

  • She is a little annunciation of light

  • I'm planning out a tour as we speak - From England up to Scotland then from there to Northern Ireland down to Southern.

I'm planning on doing it on a Motorbike (if good weather holds while I go from England to Scotland). I am going to video the whole experience as much as I can as well.

  • A beautiful Celtic song to dream ...

  • Although I'm not Irish, I AM of the highlands. I've never been to lands of my clan, music takes me there where I may, at the very least, dream of what may be there.

'Tis the dream of this Scotsman to one day visit home. In the meantime, I let music take me there, to the highlands of Scotland, to let my soul run free.

  • snog me im Irish!

  • There can be only one....

  • @BobZaitooni i concur

  • this song is incredible !!!! have liked this song for many many years and will for many more love the sound the feeling and the history !!!! kudos =]

  • This song may be Irish, But I think of Scotland and the Highlands when I hear this.

  • @darkheart1776 i m am very very ok with you (sorry for my language!) this song IS FOR Highlander people

  • @darkheart1776 - If you've been there darkheart - as best as you can, tell me what it's like. I, too, think of Scotland and the Highlands when I hear the pipes tugging at my soul.

  • @Rainmaker65 - I've been to Scotland and Ireland, I'm from England myself but Scotland was amazing I went to an island called Rossie looking off the coast you just see mountains in the mist it's breath taking. I prefer Ireland though I've been around 7 times now and it's just beautiful and break taking. Every turn round the road you see lakes, streams, rivers, mountains, hills, fields, green, woodland. I'm a Horticulture landscaper maybe I just take more interest in countryside beauty.

  • ikeep coming back to this song, love it

  • intense

  • this is pretty much the anthem for everything long standing that gets destroyed. from the literal, to the figurative, to the emotional...even heart, and soul, and sanity itself.

makes me cry every time i hear it.

  • @Dahak753 Indeed,human stupidity doesn't know any boundaries.......

Why is humanity such an ass ?

  • I love this Music ! Beatiful song very very very nice ! Congratulations !

  • What 7 assholes disliked this song? Ridiculous.

  • @CarbonBasedAndroid Bieber fans

  • @Fureyn You, you just had to had to do it didn't you? You couldn't just say "pop fans" could you? No you had to bring that name in here. I suppose it's my fault really for asking the question, encouraging that kind of response. I'd just like to never see/hear that name or any of the others ever again. My attitude is, if we'd all just ignore them they'd all go away in some way or another.

  • @CarbonBasedAndroid sorry to upset you Android; unfortunately not enough people are ignoring these "pop singers"; they're not ignoring "reality tv" either; what does that say about the general level of intelligence in the world?

  • @Fureyn Ah I'm not upset. Just tired of hearing about them everywhere I go, from the haters and the fans. Your point is unfortunately true.

  • @Fureyn The scary part is that Loreena and unsaid "pop star" are from the same town!

  • @mrryencoke something in the water in Stratford ????

  • @Fureyn who else was born there?

  • @iAREanthonyyy The Biebs

  • Do you mean the oen who must not be named

  • @DragonofShu Uh Huh - the one with recent haircut; have you put in your bid on E-Bay for a lock of his hair?

  • I've always loved this song beacuse of the melody, but after I read the lyrics I love it even more. To stop deforestation is close to my heart. I hate when a single tree is cut down

  • we gave the trees away to sin............along with the animals............Jesus thank You for REDEEMING US, may we turn ti Him,the only one who bled for us,and let ho man come in between true love such as Him.

  • @LordMalice6d9 If you truly loves this music than your soul and heart are indeed Celtic :).

  • @LordMalice6d9 if you can feel this...you are :)

  • @LordMalice6d9 It makes me glad I AM Celtic!

  • @LordMalice6d9 Every culture and nation has a beautiful history :) be proud what your ancestors are and be also interested in your own culture and you will find that you have also tremendous tunes and beautiful flawless melodies:). and if I might ask where are you from?? remember that all of the northwestern, middle eastern and further southwestern Europe was inhabited by the Celts, so there is a chance that your blood does have a mixture of many cultures including that of Celts :). :)

  • @podlozka2007 Yesh, the celts were actually wide-spread, and welcoming... :)

  • @LordMalice6d9 You wish you were Celtic? Your either a nordish viking or a celtic warrior in some parts of your blood. They fought and raped with all nations of the world during their epoch of time.

  • @Mackarwell Or a Saxon.

  • Cut down the trees cut down your heritage. When will we ever learn?

  • Hauntingly beautiful.

  • After listening to this it feels like a long journey in search of self though lonely has come to an end. Beautiful.

  • It sounds so mystical and it touches ones soul.

  • This song means the world to me! My mother use to sing it to me as a kid. I lost her at age 14. She died giving birth to my baby brother.. So this song will allways be with me and the memorys of her wil never be forgotten.

  • Does anyone know the words? I'm polish and it's so hard for me to get the correct words..

    Cheers in advance!

  • I can listen to it over and over again. Love it!!

I heard it first as a 14 years old (now I'm 30) while watching to the Highlander III and still it's my best track used in the movie.

I've been looking for it so long..

  • I first herd this song when i was 12 and i instantly liked it, and i liked lots of songs from many artists till then(im 24 now) but this song still remained my nr.1, theres just something about it, i think if i where a song i would be this one.

  • que belleza de melodia y esa voz wow como quisiera viajar a Escocia y a Irlanda, que Dios me lo permita.

  • wow wow wow it gives me the chills

  • @kadatom2525 yes is so precious

  • Verry special song,

All the birds in the forest, they bitterly weep

    Sighing,...

"Where shall we shelter, where shall we sleep?"

  • This is beautiful.

  • I don't know if any more can be said about how lovely and beautiful this old traditional song is presented by Ms McKennitt. It brings my heart and soul to the friends I lost serving with the marines in Vietnam. They were only 19 and 20 when they died. Brutal deaths. They were kind and good young men. Tears come to my heart. This song is so powerful. I'm glad I have lots of Irish blood in me. The Celtic people are a strong and beautiful people. Warriors.

  • awesomeness

  • Thank you for sharing this video with us.

  • Such a beautiful song, and very timely!!

  • @pres921, you are reading exactly into the song what is there.....sure, the subject may be trees, but the object is the loss of a thing once beloved. When I listen to this song, I use it to test and strengthen myself, like you, against the mistakes I have made or those that were made against me. The test: if I can make it through this song with no tears, then I know I have recovered from whatever the particular sadness is.

  • I know this song is about the destruction of an oak forest...and is associated with highlander...but to be honest...this song has always made me think of all the people whom I have known over the years and have passed...the things I've said...the mistakes I've made...this is one of the few songs that makes me stop and think about where I've been and what I've done..maybe I am reading more into this song then what's there...but it's what I feel

  • Ich bin froh das ich damals herausbekam, wer dieses tolle Lied gesungen hat (Serie Highlander). Tolle Stimme, sehr einfühlsam und beeindruckend. Habe sie 2x in Hamburg erlebt. :o)

  • I love this song.

  • You know, my dad was Scottish and i am not, but lets not argue, thats how wars continue, because people can't understand how to live for today, our children and children's children don't need to fight, because we couldn't find it in our hearts to forgive for something that was such a long time ago in the past, yes the past that part of our life that is well behind us. Live for today, life is too short

  • guys this song her voice arguments be damned its amazing

  • magnifique

  • Love this song and she sings it beautifully. I had my childhood woodland paradise thorn up and burned down to make room for a factory. I feel the pain of the song writer as he laments the death of something with such meaning. "For the oak and the ash, they are all cutted down."

  • Music beyond time is what she has made. forever wil we listen to the magical Sounds of this music

  • beautiful song and beautiful voice

  • The original environmentalist/logging protest song.

  • out of thousand voices loreena´s is unique... i love this music :-)

  • wonderful song!

  • This is a beuatiful song...so haunting...and so full of ghosts of the past....but one I love to listen to over and over bcause of them...the images feelings....so wonderful.

  • Beautiful song... why are we humans like that???

I cant understand how can be so terrible between us and destroy everything, and at the same time write and sing songs like this one....

Is for this people that life worth it...

    thank you

  • Mankind yearns for it own destruction...But it's his spirit that pulls him back from the brink

  • Ever thought that it is the Death and Destruction around us that allows Songs like this to be Sung and Defy Time.........

  • @leoncio41 People are a lot like diamonds. We have so many different sides, we are complex. Which side is strongest? Only time can tell.

  • @leoncio41:

Sorry friend, but IF that tree was not destroyed, this song would never been written. And same goes from everything: destruction, war, death, crimes are all necessary. Without them there would be no civilization, no art, no sad stories, no songs. Just monkeys having fun under big old trees. Because monkeys don't wage wars. Would you like that? I prefer the way it is :)

  • @darddalgard Monkeys don't wage war? The so-called lower primates attack each other with the same relish as humans do each other! ;)

  • @barnstormer66

Attacking each other is not same thing as war. The war is a highly social, coooperative and an extremely intelligent activity.

  • @darddalgard when you have seen kids limping about the place missing legs or hands then come back and say that war is necessary.

  • @leoncio41 ... blame humanitys stupidity on the those who are greedy and selfish and no longer understand the meaning of life and who cant fathom unity among all nations ....its sad to see such history and music befall todays modern carelessness!! ! songs like this open up ones mind and how can u not love everything =]

  • Is this song Irish or Scottish or Welsh or... what?
