I have the homespun tapes too. Any chance you would ever write out the correct sheet music for the first 8 bars? It might help get me on the right path to figuring out this song.
Well played! VERY well played. Question: what was the most useful resource for you in learning "Frank and Johnny"? Was it the Homespun CDs and sheet music?
I own all the Homespun instructional stuff. I benefited greatly from those products, HOWEVER, the sheet music was mostly inaccurate. Didn't correspond to what Dr John's performance. I found this difficult to overcome.
This song is off Homespun tape 1 of Dr. John. I didn't get much help from the sheet music or the slowed down explanation, however, learning it inaccurately first, allowed me to fake it (jog before run). If you want to learn a part, listen to it until you can play it back in your head exactly as it sounds in the recording. Then go through and match up what you play with what you hear/imagine. In this manner you can learn any song through persistence alone. TY and Good Luck!!
