thats not a satelite. thats when the monster lands on earth. in the movie super 8 the monster crashes on earth and then it goes back to space at the end. but then in cloverfield i crashes again years later in new york and that is the clip of when it lands in the ocean. because remember when they filmed over another tape, and it cuts back and forth every now and then? there is my proof. its kinda like star wars. sw 6 was made first but sw 1 is set before. same with cloverfield and super 8 :)

This movie was stupid. All they needed was a few helicopters with rail guns and that thing would have been mince meat in no time. But I guess they had to drag it out for theatrical purposes didn't they ;).
Well look at Transformers. An AC130 can kill an alien made of pure metal but they didn't even use one in Cloverfield. If they didn't care about letting the city go they should have just brought that thing in, would have saved them some of the city. Keeping goin with theories I think there are 2 monsters the initial "attack" isnt an attack but the "baby" being afraid and just panicking which explains why initially the monster is running and attacking everything and it's parent is seen later defending it which explains why later it seems much more calm but still aggressive

Ok first off there are not two monster's good guess though...I would of thought the same thing, But if you buy the movie in a exclusive intereview explaining the movie the man said there is only one monster ONE, exept for the little parasite's that seem to be falling off the monster. Yes it is a satellite, Once it struck the water it awoke the baby. The baby than woke up the MOTHER(Yes it is a girl monster hehe) And yes there is going to be a Cloverfield 2.

ok heres my theory. I think this is one big cover up by the guy filming it, i think he got drunk the night before had a wild threesome with two Korean chicks and missed his flight to japan, so rather tell his boss in japan he was sleeping with their rivals the koreans he made this crazy excuse of a monster attack (somthing the japanese know quite alot about) he most likely made this from some cheap B-movie he found, his large porn collection, and reruns of barney.

Keeping goin with theories I think there are 2 monsters the initial "attack" isnt an attack but the "baby" being afraid and just panicking which explains why initially the monster is running and attacking everything and it's parent is seen later defending it which explains why later it seems much more calm but still aggressive

@Arsenal8Life when i watched the movie i did see the sattelite fall from the sky..but think...if i could see that from a bad camera for a long distance how come the people on the boat not notice it with their own eyes...were they looking all at the wrong way, that wouldnt happen+ no one saw it from the coast...bullshit...not the idea just the way the show you what happens...!!

@illfightyou4money um no if a satellite is damaged by another satellite, which there are thousands and thousands of, it could by newtons law be sent out of orbit and earths gravity could eventually pull it to the ground where it would crash. Haven't you heard of the US navy having to send missiles up into space to destroy damaged ones?
