@lester5192 'da hell? Evanescence doesn't count, it's not metal. If anything you should be arguing that this band is similar to Nightwish, not Evanescence. And it is. But Epica is anything but Gothic. The lead singer prefers a balance between operatic and discernible vocals. And where do you see the Celtic in this? It's largely power metal with huge symphonic and death metal influences.

Try listening to Fools of Damnation and Kingdom of Heaven. Those are this band's best IMHO.

You miss my point. Evanescence is rock. Epica is metal. Evanescence is focused on the female vocals with straightforward riffs. Epica is focused on both female and growled vocals, which scares off most rock fans, with very complex orchestral arrangements and choppy guitar lines (another staple of death metal).

Epica was also formed in 2002, about a year before Evanescence became big. So your bandwagon argument is absurd.

@lester5192 No band is alike, but different genres hold different sentiments and different appeals, so crossing genres in comparisons is a slippery slope.

Actually Simone's style didn't significantly change till the Divine Conspiracy album was released in 2007, long after Evanescence rose and fell. For reference, they had three prior albums in that duration, two with singing, and on both Simone was waaaay more operatic. But why listen to me? Check out this band yourself before badmouthing them.

@TheEarthforge i did listen to a couple other songs. i'm not gonna listen to every video and song, it's not that important. all i know is many female singers have copied amy lee's style after she made it, her vocal style was considered new and different then for a female vocalist . of course not one of them followers will admit that. of course. they all the say they started this style or that there is no such thing as styles. lol.

@D3c1m80r i never said she was the pioneer. putting words in peoples mouth is a desperate approach when people lost a debate. amy lee didn't invent this style, a very few european ROCK bands had this going on with female vocalists in the 90's but they were unheard of cuz girls are usually into pop and r&b. only recently have some women grown some balls. but after amy lee there has been an explosion of goths opera style female singers in METALl, but not before.

@lester5192 Do your bloody research. There wasn't really an explosion. Evanescence released their first full length album and got big in 2003. This band(epica) was formed in 2002 under the name sahara dust. Nightwish released their first full album in 1997, Within Temptation released their first in 1997. Lacuna Coil released their first in 1999. After Forever released theirs in 2000. These are just a few of many metal bands around BEFORE her album. So, people are coping her? Your logic hurts.

Nightwish, Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil, The Gathering, Doro, this next one gose way back. Girlschool that gose all the way back to 1978. But let's stay in the 90's Opera IX, Inkubus Sukkubus, Switchblade Symphony, Tristania, Theatres des Vampires, Flowing Tears, and the list keeps going.

I never really was into their stuff, but since they've gotten heavier with design your universe I started to really like them. This one, Burn to a cinder, Deconstruct and kingdom of heaven are great tracks! I hope they'll continue this road and make more songs like those!

No doubt this is Epica reloaded with tons of metal power! I'm sure their music is one of the most epic I've ever heard and think this album honors the band's name by far. And headbangs for ludiqbg, changing from hip-hop to metal is like spiritual Initiation and enlightenment, therefore abandoning the darkness of the profane world. Well done man!
