  • How can she slap?!!

  • does this world have an human King, or a democratie?

  • Lee Scoresby FTW! He's the best character in the books and movie XD

  • hey how can she slap it and not react like she slapped herself?

  • NOOOOO! I have almost readed the book and I took random part from the movie (this vid). I didn't have to watch this longer than 2 minutes and I felt that golden compass became dust!

  • i want a bear like that.

  • mrs.coulter has some serious issues i mean she just slapped her own daemon nd a second after that she says sorry?! i mean seriously WTF

  • my uncle actually names his baby girl Lyra ... after this movie.

  • How come Mrs. Coulter's daemon does not talk like the others?

  • I feel bad for her daemon. The monkey may be a little chit but its still an animal.

  • ok when i saw the word compass in the description all i saw was the word ass i kno i have issues lol

  • Kind of an odd thing to say, I would never hurt you

    after youve just done it.

  • that polar bear's sooo cute despite that "angry" look... with a perpetual puppy-face :) i change my mind, i wish i had a polar bear as my deamon if i ever had one.. hehehe...

  • @ 5:33

OUT OF THE WAY, OUT OF THE WAY, OUT OF THE WAAY!

  • @mariannevinas123 same here its called a deamon not a demon

  • @The2323full Actually it's spelt "daemon" but I can see why you went wrong there.

  • The more this film goes on, the more Lyra becomes annoying. The Lyra in the book is obviously meant to be rough around the edges (despite her parentage), but the actress is obviously a posh girl trying to do a non-posh accent and failing miserably.

  • it is a great movie i'd like to got a daimon as well

  • 9:24 she was indirectly slapping her own face LAWL

  • I love this movie idc what haters say

  • I Love This Bear <3 !

  • in 06:29 they are talking icelandic

  • Did Mrs. Coulter just spank her monkey??? I didn't think women could do that.

  • lyra would make a good renesmee in twilight breaking down

  • Iornek killed the bear ... he wasn't fricking defeated.

  • MOTHERFUCKING WARBEAR!

    BEASTLY

  • they are talking swedish in this movie o.o

  • @lolloftemma I thought it was norweigan?

  • @BabyScarecrow no, they say; kom och köp

    it means; come and buy,(purchase)

  • WHAT???? IOREK WAS NOT FORCED INTO EXILE BECAUSE HE LOST!!!! HE FRICKING KILLED THE OTHER BEAR! FOLLOW THE DAMN BOOK DIRECTOR! >:@

  • rofl she slapped herself in the face........ and apparently felt no pain

  • watched this how many times and it never gets old. :)

  • Lee Scoresby is well casted in this movie. He's the only perfect 10, in my opinion.

  • @mariannevinas123 yeh ha it would have hurt her too

  • book is way better

  • @beautyandnobeast give me a movie that IS better than the book.

  • the books are better

  • That bear is soo sexy. Just saying. looool.

  • THAT GUY WAS THE MASTER IN DOCTOR WHO!!!!! Or at least I think he is.

  • @fobitbswo YES! He is!!

  • @scholarlyseeker WOOHOO! GO DW FANS! *High five*

  • @fobitbswo I'm DW fan!!! :D

  • @xXFlorence4everXx WOOT! We shall take over the internet!!

  • @fobitbswo YES we shall!!! :D

  • @xXFlorence4everXx *Goes off to plan*

  • @mariannevinas123 she started to doubt her bad soul, and slapped herself into being a B.A. again. Like when football players pound their heads. haha

  • Poor monkey, he was probably just a little sad his soul was starting to

care more about Lyra. Any way, people have been saying that it would

have been like she had slapped herself, but maybe it doesn't count if

it is your own daemon. Still no excuse for how she treated the poor thing.

  • @redribbonkaya Naw that monkey deserved a but whoopin. Should have hit the little bugger more. It's a bad deamon/DEMON. It choked a kid, and tried to mug/rob a chick/Lyra. If I have a bad inhibition, I wish I could physically slap it out of my life. It would hurt, But it beats getting a spanking. haha

  • @k2blue7 I have to say I don't agree. That monkey probably didn't even want to do those bad things (even if it did,it was getting bad influence from Ms.Culter.) Anyway, I bet Ms.Culter threatens to hurt her daemon if he doesn't carry out her every wish and command.

  • @redribbonkaya haha Agree to disagree. You control your soul... not the other way around. Your soul/Deamon choked your son/daughter that's inexcusable. Both their actions are reprehensible and self motivated.

  • Poor daemon! She just slapped it! How can she do that?

  • this girl is such a shit actress

  • why did they make iorek sound like a retard? (they took my arrrrmouuuur!!) what is he...forrest gump?

  • The lady is at conflict with herself, that's what they are trying to show.

  • "I would never hurt you... that's why I just smacked you across the freaking blimp." Can we say hypocrite?

  • She can spank my monkey anyday! lol : )

  • Iorek, Lee, and Serefina are three of my favorite characters! XD

  • I love the bear, he's awesome :D

  • the only thing i like about the dam youtube update is that i can comment without not watching

  • She just slapped her own demon... a masochist?

  • hey, can anyone tell me what the whole issue this movie had with the catholic church?

  • @mariannevinas123

She was self-harming 'coz she was angry at herself for letting Lyra escape.

  • I always thought Iorek's armor was a bit more covering.

  • who voices Iorek? it sounds like Ian Mckellan....

  • @GrapestheHero8181 it is ian mckellan! when i was watching this i was like "WOAH GANDALF"

  • Maybe it shows that she is in a conflict with herself - after all, Lyra is her daughter.

  • is it just me or do they keep calling it Ballbanger?

  • I liked Iorek's voice in the audiobook better!

  • they scream "kom å kjøp" kom å kjøp! that's norwegian for, come and buy, like a seller would, i dont know, i love this part of the film, I have read the two books, im on the third, halfway in it!

  • Getting an error on this part...

  • @cjfreymann that error sometimes happens to me too, but i just rfresh the page unti l it works

  • just finished first book and wow never expeced bears voice to be like that

  • Does this drawling creature have to gob up all the time like some disgusting young Premier League footballer.

  • I thought Iorek killed another bear... oh well, I'm more likely to be wrong.

LOL. She slapped the golden monkey, she basically slapped herself xD

It's terrible to think in Bolvangar (or however its spelt) they touch your daemons...

Mine would be a wolf or an eagle, named Hikaru

  • he did fight the other bear in fair combat, but instead of admitting defeat the other bear who was weaker let iorek kill him

  • Mine would be a black bear named Riku. :)

  • no disrespect for the bear but it's for that

"accessory"'s lack he was wasting his life away ??

  • The book has alot of refrences to Finland for example: Lapland is mentioned, the name of Serafina Pekkala and his daimon Kaisa are finnish names.

  • the fact that she slapped "herself" shows how sick she is and that she is not in touch with her own spirit. so in that sense it would make sense.

  • haha he said panser bjørn.

bjørn=bear ps im from norway :D

    Norway rule!

  • Considering that the monkey is a part of herself, Mrs Coulter is one crazy broad.

     Shmexy but crazy.

  • That monkey is so evil and scary

  • Iorek has been the most disapointing thing in this filmn so far. And it's been pretty disapointing so far.

jinkywantsyou - you are right, that armour is truely apauling.

How dare they turn Iorek from someone who killed out of rage and feels bad for what he's done (moral fibre, depth) in to a shallow character in the form of a basic failure with. I've seen better looking armour in cheap, shitty scifi films.

    Fucking retards.

....still gonna watch the end of the film though.:D

  • Wait. I thought Iorek was exiled because he killed another bear, not because he lost in combat.

  • they probally changed it because it made more sense. considering that bears are known for war and fighting it wouldn't make sense that he was exiled for killing another bear

  • how can she slap her own demon?

  • yea i know wouldn't she feel the slap herself? lol that would be funny it would be like "TAKE THA-OUCH!"

  • @Kevnijoelvr92 goes to show her character... almost like she doesn't love herself. I'm sure she felt it which is why she apologized

  • @Kevnijoelvr92 i dont know about a demon in this movie but i know about a deamon

  • in the book the bear was exiled for killing not being defeated :(

  • Right I refuse to watch any more of this film. They cut 90% of the good bits out the film. As if they made the bears in wusses.. my imagination produces tougher bears than that when thinking of little pink bear cubs. Plus what the hell is all this stuff about daemonising drinking, Plus where on earth did the witch pop out of. She didn't visit the ship. It was supposed to be her familiar. I'm guessing the church has it's pockets in hollywood now eh?& ffs yuriks armour is pathetic. Shall I go on?

  • Well, there's a crapload more inconsistencies with the movie, so you COULD :P

  • Rodger dies. They messed the movie up

  • 0:30 it looks like a gaint X-acto knife behind him

  • Reaching out for a fellow Swede now..

At 1:02 there is a boy shouting in the background, Is he saying "kom och köp" anyone knows if there supposed to be in Sweden? :)

  • They are supposed to be in norway, way up in finnmarka. And he is saying "kom og kjøp" wich means the same in swedish. You may not have found a fellow swede, but you found a norwegian ;)

  • jeg skjønner forresten ikke hvorfor jeg svarte på engelsk :)

  • 02:56

  • I missed this whole scene in the cinema because the fire alarm went off and we had to evacuate! D-:<

Shame, it was a pretty epic scene as well.

  • is the guy who voiced Iorek Magneto from x-men?

  • yeah

  • Why can't the monkey talk like the other daemons?

  • kinda think it did later if i hvn't remembered wrong

  • That is so wrong but still kinda of funny.

  • i think he/she can, but it doesnt alot... im guessing ~to xSplatterPaintx~

  • He can talk, he does in the book. I think he only talks to Ms. Coulter so you never hear him.

  • whos the picture of?

  • Lyra.

  • Stop spanking the monkey Nicole.

  • great movie thx for posting

I´m wondering why Mrs Coulter´s daemon doesn´t talk?

  • thanks dude! it helped with my summer reading!

  • my favorite part of the movie!!!

  • Armored bear, FTW!

  • this movie makes me wanna have a daimon :P

  • I want an armoured bear!!

  • eh? i thought Iroek got exiled because he KILLED a bear not DEFEATED.

  • hahaha *slap* i'd never hurt you..

  • ravenheartt, I'm afraid you are mistaken, it was called the Golden Compass long before the Northern light.

  • if your from america then it was but it was called northern light first in england

  • cnt wait till the subtle knife (the 2nd book) comes out on film, wonder wether the americans will be dumb again and call it smething like the sharp knife, cnt believe they changed it frm northern light to the golden compass :z

  • ha, i wouldn't be surprised!

i believe the reason this film failed was cos they marketed a quite mature story to children and the title is a prime example!

though i wonder if the orange telescope will be made into a film aswell :S

  • its cute how she held her monkey though

  • how did he get his armour sooo fast!?

    lmao

  • I think it's supposed to represent being self-destructive.

  • 9:38 looks like shes making out w/ the monkey

  • hahahahaha... making out with the monkey! great comment!

  • That poor monkey...

  • "i would never hurt you" after she spank him LMAO hahahaha

  • but didnt it hurt her?

  • hahaa thats true!! it must have hurt her too!!

  • Yah you can see the slap marks on her own cheek. (Better on DVD version)

  • really? thas cul

  • if u look on her cheek its sorta shaped funny

  • i know that part was stupid

  • yeah it did.

  • she hurt her deamon how dare she do that

  • some people take movies way to serious.

  • isnt that one guy from Ghost Rider?

  • yeah he is

  • He is in the Blade movies too

  • his name is sam elliot

  • I absolutely love polar bears!!!

  • Derek Jacobi (aka Clavdivs).

    History, Robert Graves (the only other fellow to have apparently come back from the dead), and Derek, have given me one of my favourtie characters;

    Clau, clau, Claudius.

I recommend you view "I Claudius".

    Thanks heaps for this posting.

  • CUTE MONKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEH

  • Yup.

  • Iorek is probably the best portrayed character in this movie. He actually fits his personality in the books. Too bad they changed his story so much, though I guess I understand why.

  • what happened to him in the book?

  • Well, it's been a while since I last read it, but as I remember, he didn't lose to his opponent, he killed him, and under the circumstances killing was grounds for banishment. And some other stuff I don't quite remember... I think Mrs. Coulter was involved.

I need to read those books again. XP

  • well thanks for telling me ;D

  • why did mrs coulter hurt her own deamon, if she knew it would also hurt her? Maybe it's like pinching orself. Anyway, When Ioerk Byrnison said that I have a contract with the child, he had armour on his head unlike in the preveiws

  • There is a certain amount of self-loathing going on with Mrs Coulter.

  • Because it is Ian McKellan. Duh.

  • What's Magneto doin as a bear?

  • yum whiskey :D

  • I love Ioerk, he's sucha badass

dear lion, why are you such a BADASS?

    XD haha

    (ask swifty, look it up)

  • can someone tell me why the man who tries to poison lord asriel is different from the man who gives lyra the golden compass? in the book they're supposed to be the same person... right? the master.

  • The director found better to have a Magisterium officer trying to poison Asriel instead of the Master, in order to simplify and not to puzzle the audience. Otherwise people could think the Mastes is a villain, he tried to avoid that.

  • If she slapped the monkey, wouldn't she feel the pain too?

  • why did she slap the monkey?

  • yes she felt the pain, i never got that part, i read the book, and if i remember rite, that didnt happen.

  • spank the monkey

  • ba ha

  • I think the point of the adults having demons that dont change is part of the cops and there dogs. Society defines us and we become that if we choose it or not. The children are free of that curruption and define themselves based on there truth which is why there demons dont change. So, if your a young man who wants to be a cop in this world then it makes sence that your demon would stick to being a dog.

  • Lee Scoresby's daemon is funny. :)

And I would NEVER slap my daemon like Mrs. Coulter did.

  • Lyra's like telling the bear off like he's a peice of shit. lol

  • why did she slap damn monkey???????...its good she slap it....

  • I guess to become a cop in this world, the main objective is to have a really big dog as your daemon. << I guess if you don't, sucks to be you, however skilled you are! No dog, no deal.

  • How in the world did he get the armor on so fast.

  • How in the world does a bear put on armour in the first place?

  • Good point

  • wow the book was soooooo much better

  • Another thing Iroik Burnison was exciled not because he lost a fight but instead he killed another bear. GET IT RIGHT (Im reli sorry but I hate films dat dont follow the books!)

  • i hate that damn monkey!

  • Yeah and wuts up with it not talking like all the other demons.

  • kidman spanked the monkey, but was regretful...

btw armored bears are soooo boss. @_@

  • GREAT effects. So real. Stunning:-)

  • a lot of stuff was chagned...i don't really like that, but the books are amazing
