That was about the most irresponsible way to handle a stone with a potential worth of thousands of dollars.. I have been setting diamonds for 20 years and this is not how it's done.. this guy should never be allowed to set or even handle diamonds...
I'm A Diamond Setter Since 1977 in Tel-Aviv Israel.for 31 years. what is shown in the video is Un professional work,to hold A Ring with A Vice-Grip leave Marks on the ring and the finish on the prongs it's A wrong process.
if fingers are considered a vice grip then thats new to me ive never heard of such things.....What he did do was use a pair of needle nosed non-ridged pliers to close the prongs. Im curious as to how else this is done.
um to tell you the truth this sounds like a diversion from the question at hand. I dont need a detailed analysis on the process. All i wanted was for you to simply explain what tools should be used. and besides even if it is amateur. From the videos ive watched thats what alot of Etsy is. Amateurs attempting to share some semi useful and quite interesting knowledge.
Interesting.
