I love those bands too, Oasis coming along was like a religious experience and don't get me wrong, they've probably got better back catalogues in terms of popular music and what they've done in the studio, but they don't hold a candle to the Verve when it comes to playing live, mainly due to the fact McCabe is an absolutely prodigious guitarist. Go be in a covers band, play Wonderwall and Creep, then try playing Come On or The Rolling People, you'll see what I mean.

When this came on that evening the hairs on the back of my neck stood on end like never before. It was complete darkness behind the stage when the song began but as McCabe played his haunting, reverberating riffs Wigan was lighting up in the behind them.

One of my greatest gig moments *sigh* ah the memories lol, that & stumbling through the forest falling all over the place in pitch dark pished out of our tiny minds trying to find a short-cut back to the train station! :o/ lol
