Is it just me or do all Capoeira fighter fight like their drunk or something XD. Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating, I love the sport but its just a general observation
The drunken-style your refering to is more typical of capoeira angola. The ginga in regional is firm and rooted even though it's goal is to be elusive and always in movement, dance-like. The concept is quite simple.. the whole philosophy of capoeira lies in deception.
sem relacho,na hora que eu entrei tava 130 negativos e129 positivos eu dei positivo só pra egualar, mas depois de ver o vidio eu iria dar positivo mesmo!
there's a series of videos on youtube called Man Up Stand Up, they are like what I think UFC should look like. Instead of always being MT and BJJ, they have taekwondo vs kung fu, tai chi vs jeet kune do, etc.! :-)
why is this video hated? Both martial artist are experienced and they're simply just sparring. Were half of these people that disliked this expecting a high budget choreographed fight scene?....
@rur0un1x Pois é cara... esse pessoal ai não entende que o vídeo foi uma simples brincadeira, ninguém aqui quer entrar para o UFC, ou muito menos virar artista de cinema!!! Obrigado pelo seu comentário!!! \o
Let's simply put that a big part of the viewers are amateurs used to movie fights, and believe that real fights can last 10min before one fighter falls as well...
Interesting show of moves and skills in my opinion
@dekipantelija right? Whether this was choreographed or just sparring, it looked good. If I could learn to do what they just did, I'll be set. I'm one of those people that learn from watching realistic fights. Watching movie fights are hard. They are often fast and flashy. Some moves(not saying they are fake but they) are exaggerated and are edited by wires and CGI sometimes.
@rur0un1x Plus, it gives a glimps of how a move could be set as well as how effectively. I don't know many martial arts that would give consciously a back kick like that last one in the vid. And hit the back of the head definitely is nasty for the receiver.
thats the problem with mixed martial arts, you have no foundation no real experiance with any of them and it just turns into a street brawl. I am a big believer to not limit your self to just one style but come on, you cant do six month or even a year of three or four different styles and think your gonna be the next UFC champion.
pretty good match=) FYI real Martial Arts matches arent lyk in the movies where they know every single move the other persons gonna make.thats for u ppl comming here expecting there to be fire and lound punch sounds a whooshing.
@MrArrogoth yeah but UFC is usually a BJJ guy vs a BJJ guy. You don't see TKD vs Capoeira on UFC. And I think if the guy who does one art is a complete master and has an excellent record of defeating people, and the guy doing "a mix of everything" is a beginner, then the complete master would win. It is the artist, not the art. There's no superior art, not even a mix of different arts.
@MrArrogoth I agree, UFC is nothing like what a real fight would be ether. BJJ owns in there because there is nowhere to run. In a street fight its much less effective.
@MrArrogoth not true...most pure martial arts have deeper techniques after intermediate levels that one cant prepare for. Still, what you said would be true if MMA was actually a mix of everything. Its only a mix of intermediate levels of boxing, kickboxing, muay thai, jujitsu and greco-roman. These are all powerful fighting arts but they all have a small amount of techniques compared to many other fighting arts.
@neutrino78x why do they even call it mma why dont they just call it the muy thai and jui jitsu leage, not that both of them aren't dangerous martial arts its just that I'd like to see some deversity
@j0shred1 exactly!!!!!! I mean I would like to see, you know, Jeet Kune Do vs. Praying Mantis or something...but like you said it is always MT/BJJ vs MT/BJJ.... they should just call it that if that is what it is going to be! argh.
the reason why most fighters choose MT and BJJ as their base is that they are both really effective techniques. MT uses kick and punches knees elbows(eight limbs). instead of two like most MA's. BJJ is one of the most effective ground/grappling arts in the world. judo relies mostly on throws and take down. but i agree i wish fighters used other techniques and martial arts. take Lyoto Machida for example. he relies mostly on his Karate. Cung Le uses TKD most of the time. both work.
@samjs721 ironic, there is this user called scarred10 or something, he claims to have a black belt in TKD, but claims he got it in only three years (it normally should take 5)...and he claims the Cung Le does not use TKD. Personally I agree with you that cung le uses TKD. :-)
all of his kicks are TKD style kicks. the reason why it looks different than traditional TKD is because hes using a modified version to his liking where he incorporates wrestling to prevent takedowns and keep fights on his feet. in mma you gotta have both a striking(standing) and a ground game(grappling). Using purely one fighting style never has worked in mma. Bruce Lee once said “Adapt what is useful, reject what is useless, and add what is specifically your own.” which works.
@samjs721 hey you should go to this vid /watch?v=38XAx3zUKAA (add that to the youtube url), I would be interested in your comments on that thread! the user scarred10 on there says he got a "black belt" in TKD in 3 years (mcdojo if you ask me) and claims that TKD does not teach boxing/hand strikes or elbow strikes, and that Cung Le doesn't use TKD!
@samjs721 I see your point of view about cung le and i agree :) the thing is, since some time now, mma has becomea style in itself more than a championship concept, and it'll just push more and more people to mix simply MT and BJJ...
Cung Le and Machida are to me real mma fighters, because they adapt their knowledge to their body, and that's when things get interesting: when you adapt your techniques to suit you, rather than adapting one's self to make a textbook move.
glad to see another fellow mma fan that is aware of whats going on. and the way things are going now im sure that in the future fighters will really mix it up with other martial arts. thats the best way to really be the best not only MT and BJJ. its not fully "Mixed" marital arts. just partial.

if this is boring, then make one with ur own, people...
not all martial arts is for street fights (although they are applicable)
if one is sufficiently trained in anything (and u face them) u'll get beaten down in a fight
now get out there and see if u can do even a quarter of what they do, and learn something.
