  • actually this movie could have been a lot more emotional cuz in the book he rapes her first:P

  • Saw this yesterday. The film was very emotional and powerful; perhaps the most powerful I ever saw; the heart and soul was there but a few things did bother me such as the murderer at the end apparently being able to move the very heavy safe to the car on his own. It just seems weird because once he got the safe out to near a sink hole he needed another man to help push it down; it's just very odd if you ask me

  • i really wanan see this film and i think it is so sad because this happens in real life. the girl who plays suzie is really preety

  • This guy i really like told me i looked like the girl from the movie

    :)

  • I've fallen in love with this movie.. moving.. touching.. thrilling...

Thank you~ I'm now curious of the book and I'd like to read it.

  • My name is Salmon. Sushi Salmon.

  • Just imagine how many innocent kids are murded by people like him...I cried watching the movie..So emotional and unfortunately so true....

  • 5 people who murdered susie

  • oooooohh I had no idea they made a movie out of this!! Loved the book!

  • I love this movie and yes, I've read the book but I think Peter Jackson did justice to the novel... I just wonder why the critiques are so bad... I wonder if they just did not get it lol :D

  • such an amazing actress saoirse is!

and also, i love rachel weisz! lol.

anyway, i love this film so much!

  • It's just sad that Harvey didn't die hurtingly like all the girls he raped and killed. When he fell off the cliff a branch should have gone up his ass.

  • man i like the actor that plays mr.harvey but i fucking hate harveys guts

  • Mr harvey's cool! he did well killing all those young girls!!!

  • @Filmbuff580

You're a sick piece of crap, you know that?

  • @Filmbuff580 ur a ass hole!!!!!!!

  • this movie is just so sad i cried apart from at the end when the evil mr harvey dies :D thumbs up if your the same!

  • I'm in the middle of the book right now. :]

  • @TheViolenceMan II's not meant to be a thriller it's a drama. It's based off a book by Alice Sebold. So if you thought it would be scary/ thriller it would be disappointing to you.

I loved it though because after you read the book you see the detail they put into it. I watched the movie then read the book, and the heaven they created for the movie is amazing and helps you visualize it more when you read the book.

I loved both book and movie.

  • @sailorilu sorry, i discovered something after writing my comment that made me realize that i watched the movie in a wrong way:

in Italy they marketed the movie as a "horror", because it is a genre that sells well in this country.

So when i watched it, i expected a horror movie, so after the screening i was disappointed. but further research pointed me to the fact that the movie was never intended as a horror and it was based on a book

  • @TheViolenceMan LOL you don't have to be sorry I would get why you would be disappointed I was at first when I thought it to be a scary thriller. Then I as thought about it . I saw it beautiful and comforting instead of horrifying for the murder victim how she could watch over her family I loved the concept. .

Anyways... I was just trying to explain why you might be disappointing for you if you're a horror buff. :)

  • Yea, the book is a lot more graphic then the movie. So if you can't stomach the movie defanitely don't read the book.

  • I refuse to read the book because the movie made me sick to my stomach.

  • This movie was sad, but beautiful.

  • don't be afrad!

  • The ending would be better if they find her body in the end and her father finds him and beats him brutally until hes unconscious. Then he would pure gasoline all over him. Lightning up the matches. And before he sets him on fire he will say " You are gonna pay your price" "This is what you get for doing this to my daughter and your other victims" He throws the matches, and then he is set on fire. Then he screams " aaaaaaah!!!!!!!! to death. Then he goes to hell, and everyone cheers. The end

  • This was one emotional fim, she looks like my 7 year old nephew so that doesn't help at all. the innocence in her eyes when she followed Mr Harvey just breaks your heart. All the actors were great in this and really made you see how devestating and life changing death can be. This is the best film I've seen of this genre, although I'm glad to say that in the book Mr Harvey died a more horrible death than just falling, icecles impaled him. Bugs me that they changed it.

  • That movie is one of the best I've ever seen!!!

I wish someone would make a fandub version, where we got to speak in it, that would be fun, thumbs up if you agree! :D

  • Karma caught up with that son of a....I'll just say gun to be safe.

  • i'm soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sad

  • lei el libro despues que la pelicula y los detalles fueron muy cuidados, me encanto como resumieron en la pelicula algunas cosas, esta la esencia del libro me encantaron los dos

  • She did a good job with the American accent; Had no idea she wasn't American

  • This movie tells a story of its own, you know this really happens. Right now, some girl is getting raped & killed. By who? Our stupid men on our earth, who can't control them selfs. It really makes me feel ashamed to call this earth, my home..

  • @twizzlers9 I agree..its sad and this is what happens in the real world..

  • @GoodOldAnime I know, I just wish our fellow man wasn't so weak to urges of pleasure. This world, would be such a happy place.

  • @GoodOldAnime Do you know how many women would be alive to thid day, if men weren't such pigs? Millions of helpless women.

  • @twizzlers9 It's a shame, and it takes Detectives SO long to catch the suspect! I know it takes time to solve a kidnap/rape case, but unfortunately even if they think they know who did it, they need evidence...i cannot wait till i become a investigator one day, I have good logical skills/ thinker & great insights..i want to catch as many sons of bitches as possible one day!

  • @GoodOldAnime I wouldn't last as a detective, because if I caught the suspect, I'd kill them myself. Jails heaven to them.

  • @twizzlers9 lol, yeah, i can understand that, well a detective & a investigator are two different careers, two different jobs. Similar, but also different.

  • @GoodOldAnime Either way, some one would end up dead lol.

  • This movie made me cry... Thumbs up if you did!

  • i seen this its sad :(

  • love the creepiest of it

  • Best movie! Love it! Excellent work!!!

  • I went 2 c the lovely bones at the pictures, i was really looking forward 2 c it and i fell in love with it when i saw it. It's an absolutely brilliant film, it wasn't what i expected 2 find in a Peter Jackson film. Stanley Tucci is extraordinary in it in my opinion. Loved the movie!

  • THE ONLY THING I HATE ABOUT THIS MOOVIE .IS THAT YY DIDENT SHE TELL HER PARENTS WHERE HER BODY WAS INSTED OF GETTEN HER FIRST KISS I JUST DONT UNDERSTANDD

  • @13netnet i think its bc she ants to live again, but she has to accept shes ded.. and she wants to experience life, so she want the opportunity to live properley, even for just a moment??

  • @13netnet I think she had gotten to the point were it didn't matter anymore to her if her body were found or not. Sort of like how when you get older dreams that you really and truly wanted fall to the wayside but you don't mind as much because you have new things that are important to you.

  • @amiddlet1986 still, it was a shitty ending. it was cute that she got her first kiss before moving on, but it would've given her parents much more peace if they had found her, cause they couldn't be 100% sure she was even dead, cause they never found her. she could've been kidnapped and trapped somewhere. i also think it sucks that no one knew that the killer died, cause that would also give them peace, that he's not out there, doing this again to someone else, like their other daughter ect

  • Exciting...

  • I love that movie..........

  • Saoirse Ronan is a celtic babygirl

  • I read a lot of the book and I dislike how some people are saying that the movie sucked because Peter Jackson said in an interview that he wanted to put all the important parts of the book in the movie there is only so much you can put in the movie if you put everything from the book then it would be a very long movie Lord Of The Rings was long but there also had to be stuff cut out because they were such long books it's the same with this movie I love this movie it is beautiful

  • @Parfaitcupcake Put some goddamned comma in your paragraph, how the hell are we suppose to read?!

  • shes so cute

  • I think the film did the best job it possibly could with making the book come to life.

I read the book when I first saw the trailer, though, so I'm hoping that doesn't draw people away from my opinion.

Overall, great movie, and won't let down fans of the novel.

  • i hat ethis movie the ending suck and its too sensitive.

  • @residentevil808 WOW, grow a heart you stupid cunt.

  • i just watched this movie and cried so much! It's so incredibly sad but uplifting too. it keeps you on edge in every scene! wonderfully made and written!

  • Okay now I NEED TO SEE IT.

    It looks EPIC.

  • Does anyone else think Mark Wahlberg is kind of gorgeous?

  • @FranBMan uh, heck yeah!!

  • @FranBMan Yeah he is gorgeous

  • this film is sad @ gd...

  • the best movie ever!

    love it soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much

  • That's so ironic :| it says "don't be afraid" but it sounds really creepy.

  • i love this movie

  • This is such a good movie, and it has a great moral and plot. I saw it alone though so it made me sad. But one thing I don't get is that when people here the line 'Don't be afraid' they think that it's Susie, it isn't, it's Holly. I know I saw the movie, so when people make the trailers they put they character they have for Susie saying that when they should have a different character who embodies Holly to say it. You know what I'm saying?

  • i read the first chapter of the book is the movie anything like that chapter like exact with the tunnel and all that stuff?

  • wow... Peter Jackson is looking so different to when he directed LOTR. Older, thinner, totally different.

  • i cried just watching the trailor

  • @catherine1853 same

  • This movie was disturbing in the extreme. I had nightmares for a long, long time.

The movie was a big flop and I am glad. Too disturbing.

The author of the book Alice Sebold was in fact raped (attacked) but lived to tell the story. Look her up on line, check it out for yourself. It is true.

  • @cyntarala

Disturbing? Really? You found this wannabe Twilight shit actually disturbing? Well, as a matter of fact, I did. It's disturbing because Peter Jackson managed to butcher the story so much that it's like a barely recognizable charred body. He didn't bother reading the book, I'm sure. He cut pretty much everything out of it and dishonors Sebold, who wasn't afraid to tackle reality.

  • @TheCanadianPrairies I understand that the book was fantastic.

I used to be a library tech, and I saw this book go out thousands of times.

Peter Jackson did a great job with the Lord of the Rings. I read the books, mlany times, and the only thing he left out was Tom Bombadil and Goldberry (these were important, too...representing nature archetypes.)

  • Stanley Tucci is so creepy in this movie

  • What is it with women and stories that involve dead, dying, raped, battered, or butchered children?

    Yeesh!

  • @werewatsh well I watched it alone, so it made it more depressive..."sobing"

  • OMG! this movie is soo amaziinngg! i love the lovely bones!:D

  • dont read books but this movie was so amazing im thinking of buying the book.

  • I LIKE THIS MOVIE

  • This movie made me cry. D:

    So sad. But I loved every minute of it. Suzie's amazing(;

  • yeah i noticed that too and i was like "what the fuck?!" i love that guy

  • Cool:)

  • Mr. Harvey looks so different from the movie (yeah i do understand that he was wearing a wig and a fake mustache but still he does look differt!) Susie Salmon also looks very differnt now because she was 14 when she was working on this film and now she is 16, basically everyone looks differnt now!

  • @ShonnoGruun

Amazing to see a movie that focuses on the victim as a person, and the effect of the murder on her family, instead of showing the murder of the young woman as a kind of "let's go out and hunt female film". So many movies focus on the pain of the female, voyeuristic and intended to arouse. The latter promotes violence against women; this film does not, instead showing the young woman as human.

  • the movie didnt stay in the theaters long enough for me to see it, i have read the book and i want to see it sooo bad

  • Check my song for this movie... The Lovely Bones Yannis Mpilalis
