What does methane do? What is the job of methane and how is it made? I mean what kind of role does it play in every day life? There there any educated person who can educate this ignorant one? Please! Thanks.
@sirajrizvi it's normally produced as a byproduct of respiration in microbial organisms. Basically germ farts lol, the amount probably increases in spring and summer because rising temperatures would give any microbes enough energy to flourish and respire and belch out methane!
mars is a organism it is what it is cos of the way it live
?"the big question is extra terrestrial being"???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
do we as a species have the right to invade other celestial organism , without making sour that we don't skroow are solar system or even the galaxy like we do on are hone organism....
im pretty young but i get the hang of this stuff easily wat i dont get is y do we need methine all we need is water and carbon and plants on a plantet then we go there and colonize it methine... methine is useless in the process of photosythesis/respiration and thats all we need for life right?
There is life there, and there is possibilities for us to live there if we utilized atomic technology, nuclear ionic propulsion, to GET there, and sped up the gaia theory to at least give it a shot and seed that planet. I'm just not sure it's close enough to the sun to keep the water in liquid form on it's own. We do have the technology to keep it that way using nuclear heat... The only barrier is no atmosphere. We would have to create it by synthesizing the heat.
they found clouds on mars aswell and the temp is rising thats because the sun its in its getting hotter is it possable that as earth becomes uninhabitable mars will come to life?
The sun won't become a Red Giant for over five billions years, so, I think we have time to discover more things, possibly get a man over there, and possibly live there. Just a theoretical statement.
Mars has a many mag fields very small because the core stoped long ago...That info came from a mission...
Also Methane, and mix of gasses are being blowed away by the solar wind...
Mars heart some how needs to jump started and and mars needs a good size moon to pull on the core...So it does not stop later on...Yes Mars has two small moons, If they can be move to make one big moon this will do... So the math your self.
@micheals1992 No. Not unless you're talking about billions of years from now when the sun may become a red giant. But humans probably won't even see the year 2300 so don't hold your breath lol.
@gmanzeroalpha Even if we did manage to put the earths atmosphere on mars (which i no isnt possible) solar winds would just blast all the gas back into space. The only way we could terraform it is if we also created an artifical magnetic feild which i suppose wouldnt be very hard with almost unlimited resources.
is that methane production related to temperature? (spring and summer), if that's the case then we should be considering biological origin as the most likely source... amazing!!!

Not really, you can produce methine BUT, our planet before clonization already had methine , it makes part of the planet circle of life =D

methane is Hydrogen and Carbon. Also Methane = big part of the mix of gasses that farts are -> evidence of life.

very nice to be informed about whats going on with mars.
thanks very much. ^^

there's water in mars. but they haven't found any bacteries or something

Yay finally NASA found life on Mars!

So, its either water or life. Either way, its interesting and we win!

Also presumably means we can terraform Mars?

We are sloooowwly being let into the knowledge that the universe is teeming with life.
next thing to be revealed will be ruins of an ancient civilization

Mars will never be like Earth, Mars core died long ago unless some thing can be done to cange that like the movie "The core"
Darkfoster22 2 years ago
How do you know that?
underworld026 2 years ago
Says who? Mars also could simply have no ferro-metals in its core -> no mag. field.

@micheals1992 No.
The Martian atmosphere is 1% the density of earth.
We would have to be bring our own atmosphere. ... and no that is not possible.
