I think the difference between Preemo and Pete Rock is that... Preemo chops his samples up into 2-second pieces while Pete Rock will use the whole loop. And the sample base is different. This is DEFINITELY a Pete Rock type sample... He prefers to sample jazz, while Preemo tends to sample a lot of soul and soundtrack music. Both are dope though... And they both got them DRUMS! Good drums don't exist in rap anymore.

In my opinion, it doesn't sound much like Preemo. Preemo uses '2-second' samples and puts a ton of them together for the most part, although there's exceptions. Pete Rock uses the regular type of loop but most of his samples consist of jazzier samples and less cuts than a Preemo song...

Actually if anyone is interested in a little hip-hop history, Pete Rock, Dj Premier, and Large Professor collaborated together to produce Nas's first album "illmatic".Anyway, while making the album, Pete Rock, Premier and Large Prof. had a little inside competition to sort of trying to out do each other in track making. Someone would make a beat, the others would hear it and try and make a better beat. It was all in good fun of course,so I'm not surprised their beat styles sound simular at times
