25 years versus a couple months of stupid assholery. NO!! I say don't give up Martijn. If you have to spend the next 25 years convincing her that you are sorry and you love only her and you are devoted to her and your kids. DO IT!. Why are folks so impatient?! It took a long time to make this mess, it's gonna take a long time to clean it up.

I have yet to hear Irene say she doesn't want Martijn back. Her pride is hurt (with good reason) but she still loves him I can tell!
