  • her story so amazing and I didnt even live in that decade

    haha

  • NO. EXCUSES.

  • I wonder if she even could feel any of that..

  • Does anyone else tear up when they see these ads?

  • @darkkitsune haha yep!

  • @darkkitsune Yuuup crying right now... :')

  • I remember watching this happen. I cried my eyes out.

  • @heymrk Same here. I think it was the last time I actually teared up. She was epic.

  • She used to teach at my school, and I hung out with her.

    She's a cool person.

  • @yobuttin how is an athlete with a broken foot who still continued to do an unbelieveable stunt "gay?"

  • wait...why the hell am i crying right now? replay

  • This is a powerful commercial.

  • I just CANNOT watch this without getting tears in my eyes!

  • @Gymnasticsluver2001 Her first fault attempt she fell and sprained her ankle with a grade 3 sprain and tendon damage. she was limping bad but her first vault only scored a 9.1 and usa needed a 9.4 or better to secure the gold, so she limped back to the line, and gave it one more go, and landed with one foot the second time.

  • @mattbackvass what did she end up getting?

  • @IWillRunAlways 9.712.

  • @Gymnasticsluver2001 That's not a cast.

  • I was like 6 during the 1996 Olymipics ( best US gymnastics team right there). And I still get chills from seeing this fault done and Dominic Muchiano's (prob spelling that terribly wrong) beam :)

Oh those were the great days!

  • When your a warrior you ignore pain and set your eyes on the gold

  • Oh my gosh. I am a gymnast. This isnt fake. She landed on 2 feet but she didnt use her left foot. Her left foot was there just incase she needed to use it. So if you dont appreciate what she did for our country, go F off and move to a diff country. You guys are stupid. I love her she is my hero. She did this with a freakin broken foot. I bet you guys cant do this with 2 good feet so shutup and leave. Stop bein ignorant.

  • I remember watching this live as a kid, I was so stoked when she won, we went crazy at my house

  • how did she run that fast if she couldnt use her leg?

  • @Thebrowntown1234 adrenaline?

  • @USCHoodman uh..that wasnt my point..she ran like hell up towards the spring/pad thing, then when she lands her foot is hurt again..pretty fishy if you ask me

  • WHAT MUSIC IS THIS?????????????????

  • she faked it. notice she didn't show pain during running. even adrenaline wouldn't help you.

  • dats america right ther

  • Morgan Freeman is god.

  • thats one badass chick

  • everything i see this i cry

  • i love this :) my idol.

  • This video is incredible, even better than the original because you can see the grimace on her face the moment she lands, not to mention if you pause it, you can clearly see she lands on the side of her left foot.

  • @lwst82 I was thinking the same exact thing. I have watched the original footage many times again and couldnt see just how perfect of a landing it was from her side. I was 11 years old when I saw her on TV and it brought tears to my eyes then and now. How a girl at her age pushed through the pain...to run on a twisted ankle for one...and nail a balanced landing on the twisted ankle for two. EPIC.

  • i got chills just now...wow!!!!

  • Holy crap she is tough!

  • Haha wow! And we think we are tough! I could of never of done that! Holy crap!

  • This is the only Visa Olympic commercial where Morgan Freeman doesn't say the athlete's name.

  • love the Visa Olympic ads <3 =)

  • Oh my gosh. This is amazing.

  • I was rocked to the core by her strength and spirit, we all need a bit of Kerri Strug in us. It's not how many times you get knocked down, it's how many times you get back up again! She went for the vault again, she ran to her destiny with passion and total confidence as if there is no one around watching.

  • Okay why is everyone saying she stuck the landing on one foot. she landed on both

  • @leeny11 Yes, she did land on both. They are saying she competed the vault on what was effectively one foot (she couldn't put weight on the other), not that she landed on one.

  • @leeny11 this was her second fault. on her first she fell and twisted her ankle and was stumbling afterward. so, she did it "one footed"

  • damn Visa could really not have found a better voive for these commercials <33 Kerri Strug=LEGEND

  • just so you know what happened to Morgan Freeman I am planning to man -nap Him and make him narirate my life.

His voice sounds like God !!!!!

    and

One of the best moments in the olympics kerri strug was incredible on her broken anckle goes to show you how determined olympick athletes are ( only Once every 4 years)

  • i love the olypics for reasons like this

  • gave me tears...

  • you can do it kerri!!!!

  • I'll never forget seeing this live, probably one of the best Olympic moments as a kid, I've seen a lot, but I remember everyone going absolutely wild that she pulled that off, I was stunned

  • i don't know about you but i would be screaming in pain as i ran towards the springboard. kerri ur awesome and badass.

  • I saw this too, on my tv, we even were recording it. We still have the tape somewhere, but I don't need it. It's sort of burned in my memory x3

  • i watched this on tv with my mom when i was in elementary school, and the memory is still fresh in my head. It was the most amazing thing i've ever seen.

  • ive always wondered... but is the person yelling something in the background (right before she hits the springboard) saying "One foot"?

  • I've wondered for years what is yelled right as she is vaulting. I always think I hear "It's Good!" Who knows.

  • if u listen carefully, its not "one foot" its "come on! come on!"

  • I don't care what anyone says- that is a bad bitch.

  • well in my anatomy class they say that after an injury your brain send these indrophines (if im saying it right or if im correct) that its like a pain killer for a like 15 minos so maybe thats how she could but im just saying i do love keri strugg though and she could pull that off regardless of my little science theory

  • @alextacy21: Next time you get a serious injury, please go right ahead and start exercising it as hard as you possibly can - preferably in exactly the same way that you injured it in the first place - then please tell us all about how your brain automatically killed the pain.

  • The fact is that there is a statistical bell curve for endurance, and Kerri Strug is what is called an "outlier" - someone that is way, way outside of the norm.

In terms of intentionally inflicting pain and damage on herself, what she accomplished in that little video is literally probably roughly equivalent to you chewing-off both of your pinky fingers, one at a time.

  • @alextacy21

Endorphins* is the term you're talking about. The level of endorphins sent to her brain wouldn't be NEARLY enough to make the pain subside.

Endorphins are our body's natural defense to pain...but it in no way *eliminates* pain. I can imagine she went through the worst pain of her life. Pain that would've crippled any other gymnast...or grown man for that matter.

  • yeah. gymnasts are usually short. like kids. but they're so strong and tough. they have my utmost respect. i think gymnasts are the epitome of being an athlete.

  • Last year I was taking a walk and I stepped into a pot hole and my ankle folded. Ok, I cried like a little GIRL. My mom had to help me walk the 4 yards to my car!

I have no idea how this girl managed to do what she did with her injury but good gravy, she has my respect. x.x

  • her first fault she sliped and broke two ligaments in her left ankle, they didnt even know how could she walk after that!

i cant believe how much power it took to even overcome that!!!!!!!!!1

  • When the legend becomes fact print the legend.

  • I'm going to be Kerri for Halloween. Too many people have forgotten about this.

  • seen better...... jk very nice moment

  • Beautiful commercial. She's a hero.

  • Kerri Strug is epic. She did one of the most beastly thing ever.

  • @ANDYLOOM how? give me a trampoline and i can do that

  • can someone tell me why she was on one leg in the first place pls?

  • the first vault keri did she slipped and that ankle buckled and she landed badly right away everyone could tell keri was hurt as she approached the 2nd vault

  • she tore ligiments in her ankle on her first vault (which she fell on) and she needed to do a good vault for usa to win their first olympic gold in gymnastics

  • OUCH!

  • I remember watching this thinking that she was going to snap her leg into. I can't imagine the will power it took to overcome that.

  • this gives me goosebumps.

  • morgan freeman has a really cool sounding voice and it goes perfect with kerri strug. oh and to top it off the music is phaenomenal

  • Love ya Kerri! :D ^_^

  • Can anyone tell me who wrote this song? or the title. please someone help me out.

  • i just love these things

evry time i see the clip of bela carrying her up to the podium i get goosebumps

  • she is the reason i love gymnastics

  • She is a serious legend for doing that.

    They should make a movie.

  • that voice sounds like Morgan Freeman...

  • It IS Morgan Freeman

  • oh trust me it is lol

  • man.. he has a very wise voice.. :D

  • this girl is awesome!!! i am soooo proud of her for doing this. she was sseriously injured but i watched the other clips and she actually did stick the landing AND won the gold! good for her

  • she is trully a hero. she stands for those dreamers who knows that people sees them as "he/she's not that good at it!". she stands for those dreamers that never gives up and strong in their goals. she's a hero for those people who have that bid/huge passion in their heart. she a strong woman. she's tough.

    Go Kerri

  • gives me chills!

  • All of these commericals friggin rock my socks!!! Who ever came up with these commericals should be very pround because they truly are amazing!!!

  • seen better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just joking very amazing what she did

  • she is trully a hero. she stands for those dreamers who knows that people sees them as "he/she's not that good at it!". she stands for those dreamers that never gives up and strong in their goals. she's a hero for those people who have that bid/huge passion in their heart. she stands as an inspiration to us. her injury has a message of, "do whatever it takes, if that is what you want to do. if that is what you are DYING to do." she a strong woman. she's tough. i adore her.

    Go Kerri

  • she is trully a hero. she stands for those dreamers who knows that people sees them as "he/she's not that good at it!". she stands for those dreamers that never gives up and strong in their goals. she's a hero for those people who have that bid/huge passion in their heart. she a strong woman. she's tough. i adore her.

    Go Kerri

  • First of all even if she didnt break her foot she still tore ligements and i did that when i was 12 and it hurt like hell . I did it while i was at gymnastics and i couldnt imagine going back out there and trying to do another vault. I think what she did was really cool and im not even american .

  • its amazing that she ran that hard for the second vault. the run is the most important part of the vault.

    incredible though!

  • One of the few who scored straight tens.

  • ya like nadia comeneci

  • No, makeyellowsnow is not gay, he is stating the facts. Her foot wasn't broken. Broken bones send incredibly painful signals to the brain and she would have collapsed as soon as she touched the mat. Trust me, I tore my hamstring playing football and the first thing I did was pull my knee up in order to prevent my foot from touching the ground. Basically, Broken bones = you lose control, collapse and writhe in pain. Torn muscles/ligaments = you maintain control; instinctively preventing movement.

  • duh you idiots thats morgan freeman the awesomest old man besides my papa

  • man is that morgan freeman speaking??? man you betta say that ish morgan!!

  • is that the bella guy?

  • Yep, that definitely looks like Bela Karolyi

  • thats because it is Bela Karolyi

  • i love these commericals.

  • pure guts

  • I don't get it, how could she run and jump off the thing if her leg is bad???

  • it was good enough for the second run, but probably not good enough for the landing..i mean, look at the landing, that's like jumping from a second floor!

  • well she had to run on two feet, and if you watch her whole performance, you can see she falls to the ground after she sticks the landing in pain.

  • she tore some ligaments, not break a bone, meaning she could still run, but it would be incredible pain.

  • that was amazing

  • sry never mind

  • was that mary lou retton?

  • No... there's a reason why it says Strug in the title of the video. meaning it's Kerri Strug from the 1996 Olympics.

  • I absolutely love this commercial! God bless the USA! Awesome country with amazing ppl!

  • Hell no! Well, I should've said some. I'm a die hard democrat. Go team USA!!!

  • Go World? Fuck that. Go USA!

  • i dont get it howd she do it on 1 foot if she was running at the beginning?

  • well that is true...but running doesn't cause that much pressure compared to jumping couple feet in the air so she had to stick the landing with 1 foot

  • she just sucked it up and ran.

  • there's a lot more pressure put on the foot when you jump and land (especially considering the height they get from jumping off the vault) than running does.

plus she probably had a rush of adrenaline, which would lessen the pain and adrenaline acts as a drug in your system.

  • I remember watching this as a 6 yr old with my sisters, I didn't quite understand it, but I knew it was amazing! I wanted to be just like her.

  • lol i was six at the time too and i also knew something amazing just happened

  • oh wow......she had one leg in a cast! AMAZING!!

    i love these commercials! xD

  • no, the cast was put on AFTER the vault...she had her ankle just taped i believe during the vault.

  • wow really amazing

noone can tell her nothin after doin this

next to the derek redmon commericial

    this is my favorite

  • really brings a tear to your eye :)

  • They cheapen the epicness by making it a visa commercial.

  • I am crying, true... very touching...

  • I freaking love these commercials!

  • SO DO I!!!

  • Me too!! lol

Morgan Freeman makes these commercials EXTRA touching

  • so inspiring

  • Inspirational to the MAX!

  • omfg...1 foot.......o m g

  • you couldn't do it with 2 feet lol

  • I was 8 when I watched this and I fell in love with her when she did this. Hopefully team USA girls bring home the gold for us again this year.

  • These commercials are inspiring.

This one and the Derek Redmond one are probably the most inspiring.

  • These ads are awesome.

  • I remember sitting in my living room and watching her do this vault... God, that was incredible. I love the Visa commercials!

  • still looking for this song,,... anyone?

  • SICKNESS...I think the most incredible moment ever in the olympics

  • She didn't even need to do it, but her coach didn't know that at the time. They already had enough points to assure gold

    But its still pretty cool.

  • so sad the risk all for the usa what have they done for her... look at her face when she lands... you can see the pain she is going thru...

  • she is smiling and waving...I mean he probably has pain you make it sound like she was begging for mercy.

  • What? She is there to represent her country, and I bet she was proud to do so. What have they done for her? Same thing America has done for you and me.

  • omigod, i love this commerical. me and my friend had like a 3 hour long convo about this and the redmond one

  • As corny as it sounds, that was really inspiring.

  • It is a wonderful moment, and it makes me cry, but she was NOT Americas last or only chance to win the gold. Had she not done this vault, they would have still gotten gold. The only reason she did it was to assure gold, she had to get a certain score on the vault to assure it and she didn't get that with her first vault.

  • the scores were so close at that point in the competition that they couldn't wait to see what the other teams score would be. once your name is called you either go, or you don't. you can't wait, if you do, you're disqualified. so while looking back now they know she didn't have to go, they didn't at the time.

  • So her foot was broken before the vault or after.

  • she injured her ankle or something after her 1st vault... because she fell.. the pressure was on because she was America's last hope for the gold...and the commercial shows her 2nd and FINAL vault that she did... so basically it's an amazing olympic story.. because she only had 1 final chance to do it perfect and she did

  • she didn't break her foot, she tore ligaments in her foot. and she it's unclear if she tore them during the first vault or during the second. most likely a combination of both, as she was definitely limping when she got up from the first vault.

  • no her name is kerri

  • I use to love Dominique... (thats her name right?) lol... its been so long...

  • beautiful... love the song -

DOES ANYONE KNOW THE COMPOSER AND TITLE

  • dude ive been trying to find that out for like a week now, i usually dont like orchestrial pieces because the violins and violas piss me off but i like bass and chello stuff

  • these visa commercial give me the chills but there highlights of every nations greatness and there players.

  • Morgan Freeman likes narrorating things.

Keri Srug really was amazing in that.

  • He has a good narrator voice =O

  • he doesn't have a good narrating voice

he has the best narrating voice

I challenge someone to find someone that has a better one

  • I read the first line of your comment and was about to fight you via comment page. I agree, best voice ever!

  • They say in everything you do there will always be someone better than you. But in this case it's an acception to the rule

  • I totally agree.

  • How about that dude that anounces movies?

    Well..

    He's kind of creepy,

    but just as effective.

  • I wish I could hire Morgan Freeman to narrate my life for a week. That would be badass.

  • rofl!!!!!!!!!!!!!
