  • the tricky lady as she is called is something i have always wanted to see from norway not scotland.has to be really very cold and i think norway is much colder.just to see the curtain of colours would be a fantastic.how lucky some countrys are to have witnessed the aurora borealis.

  • amcık ya su güzelim doga olayını daha da sikkeşlestiremezdin yani göt !!!

  • The marvels of the ceeation speak of God and glorify him, and no music, except the absolute music of angels and prophets, can correspond perfectly to God`s glorious works.

  • it was special night 23th n 24th of oct 09.. there was northernlights full of sky n many stars fall..

  • This is one of my biggest dreams, to see the aurora just once in my lifetime. This is truly amazing and so relaxing to watch and listen to. For all the people who saw this, you are a lucky human being.

  • if you want to see it, you should come to norway during the winter :-]

  • which part of Norway is best? I would love to see the Northern Lights, it's my dream

  • you cant se them in the south, so in the north: Finnmark or Troms county. Some citys might be from Trømsø, Hammerfest, to Alta, Karasjok and Kirkenes. It can appear anrywere, or you might not see it at all. But i think it's mostly in the winter when it's cold, dry and good weather (a clear sky)

  • thank you for your very quick reply. I live in the UK and have always wanted to go to Norway and see them. Thank you for your great advice!

  • you can see the northern lights in northern scotland.I have seen them regularly in north east England on the moors.

A very amusing storey took place a few years ago on a home midweek match between sunderland and chelsea. The n lights were giving a big show-flashing red and white-the sunderland fans were chanting that god is a mackem The lights range lowers on the earths lat lines to 50' north in mid winter-so on an ideal clear night with all city lights off you could see them in london

  • Perhaps I'll venture up to Scotland to see them. I bet it was great to watch them during the game too lol

  • the flood lights drowned the n lights in the ground-but you could see them clearly around the ground-even the chelsea fans were impressed.

  • ehm, what ?

  • nevermind

  • heart touching... feels like sittin' with her on the icy nature... watching amazingly the greenish aurora sky... with love and romance....

  • For those of you who have seen the northern lights, how fast do they move in person?

  • It varies, sometimes quite quickly like a slow motion display of fireworks, or sometimes it's almost impossible to tell they are moving as they slowly overtake the sky

  • I will be able to see these again in about 3 weeks. It doesnt get dark at night til then

  • You are a lucky person!

  • Remind me how lucky I am in January when its 60 below.LOL. Thats Fahrenheit. 52 below is centigrade

  • its winderfull

  • I saw this in Northern Connecticut, although not as blatant. I seem to remember the weather was warmer when I saw it. I'll describe. It was like a giant spider web of light was in the sky and between the strands of light were vague shimmering sheets of light all traveling to the core of the emanation. It was glorious. I saw it one other time though it was still it was as if someone took a red paint brush and streaked it across the sky above my friends house.

  • i live in Norway and have seen this often in the winter when the sky is clear and cold outside.. i just stare as long it is going, i dont mind if there is -25 outside... i just love it :o)

  • NO idea wat ur sayin

  • I saw 2:14 . I swear I did, I was in Helsinki at the time, and I sat outside for i don't even know how long. You think it's beautiful on video, seeing this in real life is truly a wonderful experience.

  • I can't even imagine how indescribable it would be to see this phenomena in person, must be something so incredible that all you could do was stare in the heavens for hours, I know I would be mesmerized by this!

  • me too

  • i just saw the same thing yesterday in my garden it was awesome

  • 1:38 looks like a bird o_0

  • thats one of those i need to see before i die, ferreals

  • me to

  • This is a beautiful presentation of one of the loveliest of all atmospheric phenomena. What is the music that accompanies it? Wondrous blend of photography and music.

  • Read the closing credits -- the music was written for an Aurora Borealis theme-music contest by Michael Sekuloff, and won that contest's "sliver metal." (Apparently, he can write music better than he can type or spell.)

  • LOl thats right!

  • I wrote the MUSIC! the pictures were to accompany the music, but it seems the music has become secondary to the wonders of nature.

  • It's lovely, and, yes, it is part of the astonishingly beautiful works of natural beauty that has been set in place by the Creator. Observe, and murmur a prayer of thanksgiving.

  • BEAUTIFUL WORK OF GOD!!!

  • Yup, but if you live in the southern hemisphere, you can see them too. They're called aurora australis then

  • Awesome!!!

I wanna see these in person before I die.

  • I hear you.

  • great masterwork

  • I would love to see an actual aurora borealis before I die. Unfortunately, I won't.

  • yes you will just look northward and the end of summer

  • So Amazing,it's Awesome!!

  • so beautiful

  • The Northern lights are soo cool!

  • Though the ones in this video are some of the most extreme I have seen. They're not as magnificent as you would think, unless you are actually on the Pole.

  • One question though: do they come only in certain times of the year or are they random?

  • Only in the winter. The darker it is, the better you see them. And in summer, we don't have night. Also, powerful solar winds create better lights, so really good ones are quite rare.

  • No wonder. Land of the Midnight sun. Of course!

It's funny how you can see them on different planets.

  • i saw one, it was a red constant glow in the cloudless sky that shifted in pennyslvania one year onhalloween it was the weirdes tthing i was trick-or-treating wiht my best friends kid sisters and we were walking and there it was. i always thought that they could only happen in alaska or around the arctic circle where conditions were right but i have never heard it happening in pennsylvania. does anyone know how that is even possible or has experienced one in any other state

  • A couple years ago, there was Aurora here in Los Angeles if you can believe. An extremely rare event. It wasn't visible in the city due to light pollution, but in the clear mountain sky, it a faint red looking north. Nothing like the curtains of light they see in Arctic Circle. Still amazing nonetheless that they made in any form this far south.

  • What year? i'm living in LA !!!!

  • What year was it?There was a solar storm on Holloween,a very large one.The northern lights well..they could be seen farther south during that storm.

  • Its beautiful....My father named me Aurora..

  • wow...

  • Yes i agree it's beautiful... but when you guys say not of this world and supernatural I just laugh... It's technically seen in this world, so.. *cough* it is of this world... and it's not supernatural... it's electromagnetic energy not God playing tricks on you -.-

  • ..Ho come now , thats like telling little kids there is no santa... ;P

  • THERE'S NO SANTA D= Nuuuuuuuuu

  • LOL

  • thats amazing how it happens on other planets as well!!

  • wow vanefreja you are so lucky i would love to see this

  • i'l never forget when i walked on a snow-covered lake in Greenland....the night where crystal clear...and suddenly it came!!.....

    not of this world................

  • OMG! What a beautiful song! What the title of it?

  • Aurora Borealis

  • beatifull

  • ive seen it in south dakota and wyoming...i was born in wyoming and i was born during it...thats why my name is aurora.

  • oook

  • Its a pity that we just can see this phenomens in north and south poul.

  • I've been seeing some of the green variety in Northern Scotland recently, H2R25, but you need a bit of luck.

  • where and how is it most likely to see these things in earth?..

  • Although I can't give you a definitive answer, I will tell you this: One lovely, dark night in Florida (!!), when I was a little girl, my father awakened my brother and myself to see marvelous colors weaving across the sky. Yes, it was the famous Northern Lights, Aurora Borealis! Apparently, the atmospheric conditions were perfect just at that time, for it to be visible in central Florida.

  • Oh wow, florida!?! That's awesome!

  • Es un fenomeno demasiado bello, ojala pudiera verlo algún día personalmente¡¡¡¡¡Saludos desde Maracaibo, Venezuela¡¡¡¡

  • It is a phenomenon too beautiful, I wish I could see him someday personally ¡¡¡¡¡ Greetings from Maracaibo, Venezuela

  • I love the photo at 2:50. Is that the Aurora Borealis as well or an outer-space photo??

  • both, sort of... its an aurora on jupiter :P

    (seen it on wikimedia)

  • these lights are so beautiful!

  • basically its an enormous neon light

  • Very cool indeed, thanks for posting.

  • It's ok to boast about your accolades, but you have to spell things right or you look like an idiot..

    @ 3:34 it's Silver "Medal" not METAL.... =(
