This guy is trying really hard to disguise his South African accent. But I can spot it a mile away, I'd bet cash money he was either born in SA, grew up there or at least spent a long time there. That accent is unmistakable...
Mine just died after about 2 years of service. I am debating to have it fixed, refurbished, or just get a new one. It is a phenomenal piece of equipment and I don't think I used more than 25% of what it can do. Totally worth it.
Thanks a million!!! You saved me a good $30-$40. I hope you get your cut from Best Buy. I went tonight but they were closed so tomorrow I'll be back. Thanks again.
I just got the forerunner 310xt Im finding it impossible to figure out how to actually set it up and use it. I think I'll return it. Im getting frustrated now.
I wish I could say that this watch works so far I had 3 of them all with the same problem! I bought this watch in Best Buy and had them replace the first one only to find out that the new one had the same problem with the heart rate monitor, it didnt work! I believe it's software related it doesnt know how to handle heart rates that are near or in Zone 5.
As you heart rate starts to climb through the Zone ranges and gets near Zone 5, your heart rate reading starts to fall and becomes eratic!
Could this not be because this is the heart rate your body needs to run? Heart rate doesn't continually go up forever, once it reachs what's needed to get oxygen to the muscles quickly enough it won't rise any more.
Unless you mean it actually records a steady fall while you still can physically feel your working at the same rate.
I have owned one for 18 months and although the battery life could be better I have been extremely happy with it. It has many, great functions and being able to see at a glance detailed information on each training session as well as export data to Google Earth has improved my training no end. I also bought the foot pod for treadmill running and it works seamlessly. My motivation and enthusiasm for running has improved greatly and I would recommend the 305 to anyone!
I own one. I like it except for a couple of issues. One: the elevation reading once loaded to motion based / garmin training center is fiction. I'll hike a hill with 1200 foot elevation and the elevation showing on the website once uploaded will show 9,000 feet. And no, I don't climb the hill multiple times so its NOT a cumulative effect. I DO like the sensitive attenae. Just like he says, it works even inside the house or under heavy tree cover.

10 hours of battery life? That might not be enough for some of my bike rides, which have been over 12 hours. This is barely enough for a one-way trip to Hollister, and would be dead before I get to Downtown Oakland.
this should get more views

BayAreaBiker, We are impressed that you do 12 hour bike rides. Why post it? Simply don't buy the watch since it does not fit your need.

I'm thinking of getting a refurbished model, do you think it will have the same problem that you are experiencing?
