It was very interesting watching this as no african person i have met has ever acknowledged slavery in my presence, they have only spoken about caribbeans in an ill manner. Its as if they do not acknowledge carribeans as being the africans that were captured.
that woman was quite something. she was a Christian and she had so much trouble dealing with the fact that the officers in charge used christianity to re-inforce the notion that slavery was good. after visiting the castle so many times. I think in the begining the officers used christianity to convince the guards that there was nothing wrong with the trade in humans
When the lady says, well what if he loved her, why does it have to be rape...OMLord the denial continues, no African ever wants to think ill of another person when faced with the truth of slavery its too bombastic for us at times... all reason goes out the door it seems, "why would a girl chained after walking 2months want to romance with her capture"
This is whats missing in the history of American slavery. For instance what David Yaw Mensa says about his parents not discussing it, so true in my Ghanaian family too.
Matter of fact this video has potential, keep up the research, I have seen the walking routes used from Northern Ghana, I tell ya its heart wrenching
I bet it is, I was in Ghana making another doc and I really want to go back and do a proper film about the route. My parents grew up being told slaves were the unwanted, which is such a lie. there is still so much of the story untold.
thank you so much, the shots aren't great but I just turned with the camera and asked the question and just loved his answer so cut it together when i got back
