  • If you want to see a video of what Ronnie doing what he did best, copy and paste the following text into YouTube's search engine:

RONNIE SOX - ULTIMATE RACE HEMI 1968

  • Nice car, and call me "snotty" if you like, but it really should have a manual tranny to look and sound the way pro stock cars did back then.

  • @Clawedbackster Amen brother. Ronnie Sox's Cuda with an automatic transmission is sacrilegious.

  • Great to see that old car run again. Obviously the guy driving was not driving it as hard as the car could go. Wouldn't want to blow up an old classic race car. When the car was brand new I saw it run in the 9's on that very same track where this video was shot.

  • SS/BA looks to me....?

  • The car was amazing, but the guy behind the wheel was the real deal. Ronny could really run the gears I heard

  • just saw the converter flash

  • Nothing like seeing a manual 4 speed mopar still able to pull 10 seconds after all these years. Thing looked like it was set on rails as it went down the track!

  • 10.76?

  • 4 speed! shift drive! shift! nothing better. most of the cars that are sox cars are replica's wich is fine. thought that counts

  • You don't sound harsh, just misinformed.

Let me see if I have this straight; You post a "historical" video of a S & M car that never existed in it's present form and then start to kick and scream about appreciating history when I point out that the Cuda Ronnie drove was a 4 speed.

Was the Cuda he drove a 4 speed or not ? Is the Cuda in the video anything like watching Ronnie row a 4 speed ? Of course it's not. Nice paint job though.

  • @mloboda All of Ronnie Sox's race cars prior to the Lenco transmissions (which still used a clutch assembly) were FOUR SPEEDS! To recreate his car and put an automatic transmission in it is a travesty.

  • they are all great cars! enjoy them. I restore them and its amazing how far they came and safety was a serious concern. IF Ronnie Sox were still running his car would be auto and SAFE! The idea is to preserve the history and not thrash what is left. they are all here for us to enjoy. remember we are on the same team. I have a sox car and all my friends do also, the 024 is running a 383 hemi with auto it is for sale its a great car safe and updated.

  • @ronkirkpatrick "IF Ronnie Sox were still running his car would be auto?" Ha! I seriously doubt it.

  • Take it easy, Sparky. Didn't mean to make you cry. Except for the Motown Missle (which still had a 3rd pedal), early pro stock cars were all 4 speeds.

THAT"S what made them exciting. Sorry your video doesn't did it for me.

  • @mloboda The fact of the matter here is that you were called out for being one of those "people" who just have to have something snotty to say and can't appreciate history for what it is. The car hobby would be far better off without people like you in it. Sorry to sound harsh but I have no sympathy for pathetic whiners.

  • Sox drove 4 speeds NOT automatics.

  • @mloboda And your point is? It's a shame that people like you can't watch these videos and appreciate them for what they are. Who really cares that the trans got changed out for something more consistent over the years? AND just so you know, the last true Sox & Martin car, a 1979 Dodge o24 Charger ran an automatic trans.

  • @OneBadSuperbird So they experimented with a Powerglide in their Pro Stock. I guess it didn't work out too well, did it?. Irregardless, Ronnie Sox became a legend driving 4-speed cars--not automatics.
