To me this ol' gems (which can't deny some partial resemblance to one another) sound much more modern than many others from the Roaring 20's...
Moreover Baby Rose Marie sure doesn't sound that Baby-like at all... at least when listening to her voice transposed/lowered by 4 or 5 semitones (I tried it)... amazing young lady!
(Adam, I wonder what gear you're actually using to bring those old shellacs over to the digital era...?)
@Mac2Bee Well, the style had changed a bit from the '20s when these were written in 1932. Of course, the way she sings each is similar, too. I'm using a new turntable with a Crosley 78 needle which transfers the records directly to CD. That's all I do -- I prefer to leave audio restoration to the professionals.
Of course the sound of the 30's differs already... Oops, my bad, I had B.R.M's year of birth (1923) in my head when I wrote my comment :/
I checked the Crosley turntable line... those vintage-looking devices with state-of-the-art electronics inside... Still, I'm impressed of the sound quality after transferring it to YouTube :0
I'm glad you leave those 78's untampered with any restoration attempts ... Me too, I prefer pure for sure!
