@maciverandy triggers are an electronic device used in various types of music. Metal drummers use triggers too get a more clear sound. And so guitar players can hear the kick. So you can hear each hit when you fly. They plug into a module. Basically put. Triggers and module makes your acoustic drum set or whatever into an electronic kit. Or kick.lol
@BrownBoyRosh sure you can just read the title, but his doing slide, for he isn't hitting the board with his heel, he just does very quick slides. His got the heel-toe technique but his doing slide.
i'm not knocking this guy or his drumming. i just usually notice that the guys with great foot speed/technique usually lack in hand speed and skill. (i have not seen this guy play im not saying that applies to him) just in most cases that seems to be the case.
Your right though. I've been a progressive drummer for years and one time I said something about doing a para-rythem and the kid had no idea what that even was. he actually said (typed) "Para what? yeah thats great but how fast can you blast speed?" When did speed become talent? LOL
Are you just trying to sound tough or do you really want to know? If you do, I'll send you a clip of me doing a couple different patterns, or some sheet 'TAB'. If ya take a minute to understand a 'P-R's basic's, you will have opened a whole new door for yourself. There's nothing like coming up with your first unique pattern.....! So...do you really want to know?
no seriously explain it to me. i was thinking you might have just seriously fucked up in saying polyrhythm but it seems thats not the case. so please go on
LOL No NO...you got it! Same thing. I'm just used to PARA because the J.C. tutors would teach a polyrhythm by combining two seperate pararythm's. Anyway! What do you think of the drum pattern in the first two verses of "Push it" by "TOOL"?
oh right. well it could have been a confusion in the dialect then. i havent heard pushit by tool even though i do actually quite like them. il have to give it a listen. and i think you should listen to just about any meshuggah song. their packed full of polyrhythms and polymetres
No! I drilled this guy pretty good so let me tell ya what I got......! First, no, heels are not touching pedal board. Second, Ya can't really tell in the vid but he's not going 'south-north' like he shows in the beginning, he's doing a 'swivel' which 'south/west to north/east or 8 oclock to 2 oclock. (8 being slightly down the board and 2 being the movement up the board) Hope that helped!
then why is it called heel toe exercise? can you answer that for me? and inside voices dude :) and i think he has his left doin swivle and right slide, idk i could be wrong :/
Okay...good question. This actually isn't heel toe. (HT) Why he calls it HT...I don't know. HT is literally the heel at the base of the pedal then the toe at the top. What this guy is doing is called a dbl stroke or 'Continuous Stroke'. (bcuz you can do a beat both ways)
This guy is crazy fast. I'm gonna put up some vids of some DBL Bass stuff that is pretty quick but as far as the DBL Stroke...this guy is the fastest I've seen. I'm pretty fast but I can't touch this guy. Don't feel left out.
This is what I have been looking for!!!!Guys unless you can play shit like this dont put up videos please, this a beautiful example of amazing foot work that takes for ever to develop, thank you for sharing this amazing techique with us brother!!!!!!Hail
I could be wrong, but to me that sounds like marching rudiments.. I heard tap drag and 5 drag with a check.. Hand practices, only with the feet.. Thats the only way i can think of learning his technique.. Most metal drummers do single roles but i almost like his better..
That doesn't look like Heel-Toe at all. Looks more like Toe-Toe double strokes to me. It's probably just the video causing that effect, but what you're doing has more flow to it, so if it's not Toe-Toe, you've done a great job at practicing Heel-Toe.
its more of a constant release technique!!! watch jojo mayer's modern drummer performance!! and during his song. pleasure control, there he is doing a heel toe!!!
good jobs, can u watch my video i want to have a comment 4 u cos your so great, arjee the hinete is the file name, dont lougth im just a beginner tanks alot, and good paying..god bless!!!!!
haha well im only just getting to 210 and i got my first double pedal like 4 months ago so it gets there fast if you practice. id do gallops first cos there really good for building ankle endurance and speed
pretty cool!!!!!!!! anyway i think that once u get to that point u can try out different ostinatos.. ure really in your blood with doubles man... nice!
hey i notice you have a trigger i was thinking of buying one and was wondering....do you have to get anything speacial for a tigger or just plug it straight into the amp?
You need a module(brain) to give it the kick sound. If you go straight into an amp it will sound pretty bad. I'm using an Alesis D4 module, and a Roland RT-10K trigger. The whole setup cost me just under $150. Just check out eBay.
fukin awsome , just wondering , what kik do u have and do u think the DW 4002P is any good for a starter,, also how long have u been practicing ur foot work on the double??
The kick I'm using is a 18" x 22" DW. But I'm using a trigger setup that includes a Roland RT-10K(trigger), Alesis D4(module), and a Samson 4 channel mixer. All you're actually hearing is the module. I'm not super familiar with the 4002 but it appears to be a solid pedal for the money. I've been playing the double pedal for roughly 3 years. I practice alot!
that is good...but it looks like doubles...like a heel toe type of motion or just plain o'l virgil donati or thomas lang style doubles....either way it sounds tight and thats awesome....i cant go that fast..yet lol
i play snare we do those as warm up excersizes with out hands, damn nice
