They all get personal and talk dirty about opposition player's wives and girlfriends to get under the skin. Only need to google 'cricket sledges' to see that.
im a wicket keeper and have dealt out my fair share of sledging and there is nothing wrong with it as long as its not a blatant insult what happens on the field stays on the field. say what you want about flintoff but he is a sportsmen with good nature and gives it as good as he gets and thats the way it should be. and im an aussie not a pom
collingwood tried to sledge warnie in his last test. warnie just laughed at him and bagged him for getting an mbe for only scoring 7 runs. it was piss funny
@IndiaRshit Uhmm. So, you are basically saying that the white nations, the Anglo nations can hack it but those of darker skin can't?
You also have "IndiaRshit" for a name, loads of anti Indian stuff in your profile, something about imperialism and you come from Barbados. Let me guess, a white colonial with a family tree in Barbados since pre-1900.
Excuse me for thinking you may just have an agenda here in your antiquated mindset.
Sledging is a part of the game at all levels - I've had plenty in club cricket. You just have to ignore it and do your talking with the bat - the oppo can say all they like, what matters is how you play the ball. Freddie is right, sledging is okay if it's not personal. From what I've heard, hi sledging is always about the target's playing abilities and not personal.
Over-rated. At his best he was very good. His best didn't happen often though. Too injured all the time....his bowling average is higher than his batting average, which means he was well, average. Good personality for the game though.
Freddie....Dont ever think of sledging anybody else now...Broad is yet to recover..dont want the same to happen to Anderson/ Onions/ Sidebottom....LOL..
I sledge all the time for my club team, but it NEVER gets personal (i.e calling the batsmen a black cunt or something like that) I put thought into my sledges
hmm.. i posted that last comment like a month ago.. n i have to eat my words now, n i will man up n say it.. 'Aussies are still f-in good!'.. not as good as they used to be.. but just good enough to win the important tournaments (a la the champions trophy!)..
Like em or hate em, u ahfta admit, they are a bunch of thorough professionals.. they might lack the superstars they used to have.. but they are still up there.. thats more than i can say for the other two teams aspiring to be number one (SA n Ind).
SA crashed out.. (again!) n India looked mediocre at best! n the were missin just 3 players!..
n aussies lost about 5-6 in the last 3-4 years.. but they are still the number one (think they are .. i need to check the latest rankings).
so, davenavarroforpm .. i concur with ur commenst.. although as a cricket enthusiast, am not used to aussies having chances to win, n lettin em slip by..
i like it because although australia win more, it means so much more to us when we win so we fucking appreciate the moment so much more, and thats why winning an ashes series will always mean more to england even though we win it less
aight fellas.. being a neutral here, leme tell you summin.. aussies were absolutely outplayed in the ashes.. much like they have been lately by a lot of other teams (india, SA.).. but i wouldn't write em just yet.. at least not in the the one days..they might drop to 2 or 3 in the ratings.. but they r still a very very good team.. they just lack the consistency they used to have.. much like england used to, n still does.. the only difference is they are at two very different levels..
Seriously, you would be a brave person to back them to win against Bangladesh on their soil. It's time for other cricketing nations to shine and Australia will just have to be content with sinking or stagnating, they wont be a force in test cricket for quite some time. Oh, and as for the 'cheating umpire comments', look at the way India was sawn off playing in Aussie last year, it happens and better umpires and more technology is possibly the answer.
Good game England and congrats on a deserved series win! Australia now slipped to 4th on the Test table and deservedly so, they were outplayed by a weakened English line up and choked in the first innings of the final test. The era of a strong Australian cricket team with good depth has gone for the meantime as they struggle to find a half decent 'consistent' fast bowler and a spinner of worth.
no, innings and 100 runs is thrashed. btw- shane warne was undeserving of his talent. he endorses fake hair products and is always trying to dismantle players.
Being Aussie I love watching Flintoff play. He is an incredible player and even more so an incredible character on and off the field. I've always wondered how the English felt watching Shane Warne play. Probably similar
I'm a fervant English cricket fan and am currently rather depressed - but Shane Warne is my favourite cricketer of all time and it was an honour to be at the MCG to see him get number 700 in 2006.
This is brilliant, nice to see a bit of passion from Freddie, we'll need all the support we can get now he's out of the 4th test... guys let's all support the team...check out 'The Fans Jerusalem' on youtube ... it's hilarious!
But not good enough for England to win a game on Australian soil. 5 nil. damn!
And we didn't even need to use chewing mints, substitute fielders or dodgy physio's. Get some real class England, win without punching below the belt!
That is a nice call...........but England you must admit are becoming a bit of an embarrassment. Win clean...........or lose with grace. Check out Ponting's speech after the 2nd test. We lose by 100 runs but the umpire gives out 3 of our top five batsmen that the replay showed were not out. You got the luck. See how it ends.
its fair to say england have had more luck so far. but at edgbaston swann also had ponting lbw which wasnt given out. what did he do? bowled him out in the same over.
Oh yeah? well check out how many bad calls England have had. 3 in this test. It's nothing to do with the team when an umpire gets it wrong. They just appeal. win clean? Australia got thrashed at lords as did the poms in the 4th test. Give the teams a little more credit pal, and don't be so one eyed.
100 runs isn't thrashed? OK. Freddie thrashed you. Whichever way you want to spin it, Australia were well beaten, as England were this last test. The bad calls are about even, and even without them in this last test, we would still have lost. Rudi is a good friend of no team mister. you need to grow a sense of fair play. May the best team win at the Oval. Fair enough?
axiom50. Sour grapes. You are THE classic example of a fucked up, graceless loser. You wouldn't know if you were shell shocked, shampoed, or arse fucked. Freddie is the perfect example of how juniors should go about their cricket. See edgebaston 2005 you PRAT.
Who gives a shit if he isn't captaincy material? He has a huge heart, amazing panache and flair, a personality to die for, and he's a GREAT all rounder. The aussies would kill to have someone like him, then they wouldn't be in such a fucked up state in this series.
ha ha - fuck off! thats why the first thing he did when we australia lost that test in 2005 was go and console brett lee then was it? a true sportsman who made up for his shortcomings with pure effort.

Don't get us Aussies wrong.
Ever cricket match is important to us, every series we win is great, perhaps as great to us as it is to other countries.
But losing isn't that bad.
If we won the Ashes, I don't think we'd dismiss that like you think we would.
We probably would celebrate much MORE than you...
