  • don't know about any other ladies. but i would have had them cut a few slits a wee bit lower so i could grab our midge's butt. love thsi song. it's killer played live.

  • Their music videos could form a veiled analogy that they are OK Go of the early 80s.

  • the beat to this song is similar to visages the damned dont cry.

  • Its like a mini movie. With interesting camera angles. A lot went into this video for its time, for sure.

  • They did an instrumental version of this as the B-Side Vienna, didn't they?

  • Great Masonic vid.

  • Love it.

  • This video was directed by Russell Mulcahy of HIGHLANDER fame.

  • I haven't seen this one since the early 80's. Thanks for posting!

  • Billy Currie was an absolute Star, Loved his work with Ultravox, Visage and Numan. . . He could really make a moog sing . . . .

  • @toshredornottoshred - Billy actually preferred ARPs.

  • Amzing Video to a kick ass song!!

Very artistic, unique, surealistic, innovative, strage, differentm, New Romantic, New Wave...

They just don't make 'em anymore.

That's why this music and its visuals are still relevant, after 30 years.

    - so who da f*** is Lady Gaga?

  • Art and resistance!

Wish you the best in your new tour!

    Five fire ball stars******. Amazing!!!

  • one of my favs from the "Rage in Eden" album ☺

  • Okay, anybody care to explain what the song and the video is about ? There doesnt have to be reason of course. Just curious.

  • cullyvan, message me and I'll link you to an analytical article I wrote about this song and video.

  • Metaphoric video, i think so..They have made almost all of their vids on high level ! I'd say the one :today's artist could have learnt so much... Just my opinion.

  • a metaphor for what ? Does Midge Ure live in a cheap house with shit walls ?

  • Lets get VIENNA by ULTRAVOX to number 1 on 4/4/10 - join our campaign and help us achieve this goal

  • This song was absolutely dynamite . So many pics of past are back to me;)

  • the best album from the midge ure-years n a t u r a l l y really...since the producer of the album was no less than the Genius Conny Planck!!!! Good ElectroKrautfeeling Though I H a v e A Softspot About "Vienna" t h i s I s the True Shit! influencal still sounding almost contemporary

  • can't stop playing this song today.

  • Love the line of swimmers in the sand!!! Now that's an image that stays with you!!! I want one of those shiny balls...whatever it is...

  • why do people get on here and talk about things that have nothimg to do with the videos argue about ultravox the type of music they do something thats related to the vid omg get a life youtube fighters

  • Jebus. Go have a lie down.

  • VERY PRESENT FOR THE YEARS '80

  • @AreadiBroca1 really it wasnt its just videos now have no creative people or directors back then directors and artist loved freakin poeple out and the vids had a always had a clever or really deep message in it not so much now

  • Immaculate.

  • i doubt you have the money to make it all the way to south london and, its my youtube account, on my computer

  • do you need to know, what are you? a stalker?

  • your some overweight american init? its sound like your crying mate

  • omg your cusses are as dry as you mums pussy

  • omg... soooo hardcore, why you startin stuff anyway, i merly said it wasnt hip hop, didnt say anything about the song, because i thought it was quite good

  • lol someones happy, im not gunna retaliate to you, oh what the hell, shut your mouth, dickhead, go die in a hole

  • hip hop? what song were you listening to?

  • Ultravox never date, Midge Ure's vocals are of a quaity difficult to find these days.

  • I get on well with you! Their songs are timeless! Great Group!

  • Midge Ure's voice - what a legend. Don't think anyone's got a voice like that these days. To me the whole sound + video just hasn't dated.

  • The Fantastic + Brilliant Voice of Midge Ure and also ULTRAVOX ....

    Timeless ...

  • yes, those are very thin walls

  • Fantastic Rhythm, piano, voice...

  • A superb Video. and song...

  • This is surreal sounding electro- rock (is there such a music genre?) Ps been a fan of uvox since 79'

  • Strangely this does never seem to date - always sounds ahead of the game. Brilliant song

  • They borrowed the opening scene with the hands from Polanski's "Repulsion" - it's in Laura Branigan's "Srelf Control" video too. But the track is epic, sooo tight, it doesn't need no video.

  • One of my all-time Ultravox favorites! 'Rage In Eden' and 'Vienna' still are great albums, too.

  • This is long overdue for a remix. Or better still, a cover by NIN :)

  • MAGIC! Thanks for sharing.

  • wow! Amazing drum beat that suddenly shifts a gear in the last bit too!

  • If you want to hear this song on a cool 1981 dance party from Montreal enter 1981 Blitz Special Dance Party

  • he looks like a farmer with that hat on.

    hello, farmer midge. :]

  • I think the intention was to look like he stepped out of a 1930s film. I don't know many farmers who wear trilbies.

  • Drink up thee coider, you Devon farmer...

  • still nothing better in music today...its crazy, but i feel like by being a huge fan of ultravox that im in on some sort of awesome secret...but i will never understand why they didnt rule the charts!

  • They were alternative rather than popular and they were ahead of there time and the music hasn't really aged because they were better than that ....Does that make sense lol

  • They were brilliant, but nothing is ahead of its time, things come along when they do, then we better them, and always think what was first, was "ahead of its time" there always has to be a beginning

  • Well said. People these days always say that anything they like from the past was "ahead of its time." It's an overused phrase. Anything produced was by definition of its time.

  • @robmac20062006 Yes, you have hit the nail on the head there. Along with OMD, Ultravox produced superior 80s music. Muse owe their entire career to 'We stand alone' They are a wonderful band with many beautiful songs. Melody withing rock music is rare these days

  • @robmac20062006

shhhhh fibertsvox, they are a huge secret and aren't us voxheads pleased about that. they were the superior men of style in the 80s, we are so glad to have and still witness ultravox. midge in his gorgeousness and ultravox, their just the best :)

  • It's no secret mate, they're a terrific band, with choons that'll last forever.

I'm glad they never ruled the charts, it means I still get to annoy people today with tracks like this that they somehow missed!

  • @filbertsvox But they did!

  • @filbertsvox - I dont know, they had such great Hits. Only Vienna and Dancing with tears in my eyes were hits.

  • nice masonic vid

  • the best.............

  • I can remember back in high school when MTV first started watching for hours on end hoping for a chance to catch this video. This is still my favorite video ever after all these years.

  • so electro!

  • I love this song n Vid!

  • Midge looks like a Pimp in this ;)

  • Not a pimp, but a wimp...no fan of his 1930's film director phase...

  • Fantastic song and video (check out the special effects!!!)

Remember listening to this as a shy 17 year old.

  • ok that´s good
