  • Same thing on my 1999 beetle. Im getting new battery today.. Great video I hear its a pain in the a@$ to get battery out though

  • ugh I'm having the same problem with my bug right now getting a new battery tommorrow

  • is the car on?

  • It's the battery my 2001 did that.

  • when ever the starter makes that clicking noise... its the battery or the starter isnt getting any juice from the battery

  • My 2000 Beetle is doing the same thing. Shoot me if I buy anouther VW.

  • ur car is FULL of dust!

  • FUEL!!!!!!!!!!

  • My 2001 beetle was doing the something, come to find out the fan was killing my battery. That's really the only problem I had with the beetle.

  • Hey i was looking into buying a new beetle and i was wondering other than this vid did you have any other major problems? how bad were they?

  • @heatherwilleatyou dont do it!!! get something else, dont even get a VW. These cars are the absolute worst. My sister and brother in law got mine for my college graduation and it has been problem after problem and most people i talk to that have this car all have had issues. ive changed, the thermostat, water pump, timing belt, had 4 battery's, brakes, 3 headlights (same one) 4 tail lights (same one), catalytic converter, O2 sensors, window motor, glove compartment broke and the list goes on

  • lol you need a new $150 battery

  • My VW Bug is doing the same thing! For the second time! I had to buy a new battery about five months ago because it did this, and now today it's doing it again!

  • THE BATTERY OR BATTERY CONNECTIONS FOR SURE.

  • Either body control module or battery thing

  • The computer is completely dead.

  • yeahhh discolights ;)

  • get a charger rthen try 2 start it

  • battery my civic was doing the same but found out it was the positive wire loose from the battery terminal

  • yep, thats the battery putting out close to no power. happened to me when the battery died, but i guess the short would work as well.

  • This exact thing just happened to me!!!!! What is it????

  • low battery dumbass

  • @Wanzongo lmao

  • Ur Alternator is Bad

  • Basically there are two computers that control everything in a car, the ECU (for the engine) and one for all the electric stuff that has nothing to do with the engine. When this computer takes a dump all the electronics in the car go off the deep end.. If these two computers are in any way reliant on each other (newer cars) it could make it not start.

  • I would say somethin in the key switch maybe? Sounds like a short there to me. GHOSTS!

  • seems like it is an electrical problem

  • another faulty car brought to you from the people at VW

  • just push put it into second and with luck it should start

  • 140mph???? LOL!!!!!!

  • @Corey497 hahahha i just notice that too 140 mph

  • I have a 2001 Beetle. I've got a similar problem right now. I've had so many problems with it. I'm never buying another Volkswagen as long as I live.

  • CHRISTMAS CAR :D

  • do u gotta jump start it like i do ever few months???

  • clean the terminals, and recharge battery..

  • these newer cars.. so much electronics! =(

  • The battery.....100%

  • Dead battery

  • Comment removed

  • Dead battery, for some reason VWs do this when their battery goes out. I had the exact same thing happen to me in my beetle. The Bosch ignition system requires pretty high voltage to work, so if it gets low this is what happens.

  • maybe the cylinder of the start switch is broken

  • I had the same problem with my car. there was corrison on the upper battery post and that little compartment above the battery has to be cleaned to it had corrison on it to. and that whould fix the problem also that safe on your radio happens when u disconnect your battery and i have to enter the radio code , usally found in your service manual. good luckj

  • battery

  • VW... is that German for CRAP?!

  • pos

  • battery, alternator or the board computer

  • i was told by a AA man on mine tonight it was a loose connection from the battry to the Solenoid? where the wire exits to the motor... if that helps?

  • There's an extremely high chance that it's the MAIN RELAY.

  • mine does the same and its a 2005 cabro.

  • I have the same problem on my Audi A3 when i turn the key the doors close the windows dont open i even cant close the car because of that i found out the problem was not the battery but the alternator that generates power was broken!!!

  • bad relay

  • Heres the problem-you probably have had it fixed but im willing to bet this is it:

    Bad piston slappings.

No, just kidding. Actually alot of times a car will act like that. People instantly think oh-my battery is dead or my starter is bad. It might not be actually! Alot of times you just might have alot of corrosion on your battery terminals, causing it not to start. Clean those terminals off and you should be good to go.

  • clean the battery

  • STARTERRRR!!!

  • check for a bad ground to the motor

  • Starter.

  • battery my audi tt did the same thing because we left it in the garage over the winter or just jump the old one

  • Put a new battery in your remote make shore you you get the right battery

  • I was gonna say... definitely a short.

  • the battery it's junk

  • i know you fixed the problem already, but i just wanna say this. my sister had this same exact problem on her 1999 Jetta VR6. whenever it happened, she would always wait at least 10 seconds. and then try again, and it would work.

  • check all fuses above battery and on driver side of dash

  • Is there the number 53 on the side of the car? That could be your problem

  • haha your problem was that its a "new" beetle hahah

  • PROBLEM SOLVED. There was a short inside the battery.

  • I was about to say... I had that same problem on my '01. The battery-top fuse block shorted out, and killed my battery. I had to replace both to the tune of $500.

  • @idquinn this exact thing happened to me five minutes ago. I wonder if this is always caused by a short in the battery?

  • its either a starter or a bad battery i think a bad battery cuz u can hear it trying but if the battery is fine its ur starter mine got stuck a while ago what u do is get under the car and hit the starter with a hammer not really hard just tap it and try to start it and it will work if thats the problem cuz sumtimes a starter will get stuck by dirt or dust no joke look it up lol

  • I used to do that also.

  • 1 of three things, some one short sercited the whole car,bad battery,or you have a serious case of Herbie on your hand.

  • Dead Battery 00.14-01.43

  • ja istdoch klar das er nicht an geht du hast ja den tank vool mit klber(wixxe ) voll machen so dummm echt

  • Ahh, mine is doing that too..

About to take it to the shop, again...

  • Apparently these things are one of 2005's most unreliable cars i saw somewhere

  • battery

  • low battery
